3、agraph Reference: 31.2.1.2Subject:DECISION:31.2.1.2 A fire rated module or panel intended for stand-off or rack mounting in combination with roofcoverings shall be installed as shown in this Section and according the manufacturers installationinstructions for both the module and mounting system with

4、 respect to the fire performance requirementsfor Class A, B, or C when the module or panel is marked as being fire rated as specified in 47.11. Forinstallations that are wider than the 40 inch (1016 mm) standard test deck, supports may need to befabricated on which to mount the mounting system. Any

5、support system is to be developed to ensureconsistency with installation instructions and field conditions. The mounting system with installed PVmodule(s) or panel(s) shall be centered on the test deck and extend to the edges of the test deck. Themounted modules or panels shall be tested in combinat

6、ion with the following roof constructions:Steep-Sloped Systems - Spread of Flame: When designed for steep-sloped roofs for slopes greaterthan or equal to 2 in/ft (167 mm/m), a module or panel intended for stand-off or rack mounting incombination with a roof covering shall be tested in combination wi

7、th the following roof construction:a) Roofing substrate: 15/32 inch (12 mm) thick plywood;b) Underlayment: ASTM D226 Type 1 Roofing Underlayment (also known as 15 lb RoofingFelt); andc) Roof Covering: Listed Class A 3 tab asphalt shingle, ASTM D3462, Standard Specificationsfor Asphalt Shingles Made

8、from Glass Felt and Surfaced with Mineral Granules. As analternate roof construction it is permitted to use any Classified rolled asphalt membranemechanically secured over a noncombustible substrate.The roof covering system must demonstrate a flame extension of at least 48 inches (1219 mm) and notmo

9、re than 72 inches (1829 mm) in the average of three baseline tests.As an alternate to determining baseline results using the adjustment of flame temperature, it shallbe permitted to adjust gas flows consistent with the running average of gas flows from previoussuccessful baseline tests, in order to

10、attain the prescribed flame extension. The gas and air flowvalues determined from the baseline set of tests shall be used during the actual Spread of Flametests.Low-Sloped Mounting Systems - Spread of Flame: When designed for low-sloped roofs for slopes lessthan 2 in/ft (167 mm/m), a module or panel

12、ood;b) Insulation: 4 inch (102 mm) polyisocyanurate insulation; andc) Roof Covering: Single-ply, mechanically attached, membrane with the system havingdemonstrated a Class A fire rating. One roof covering system that has been found to comply isan EPDM rubber membrane, minimum thickness of 0.060 inch

13、 (1.5 mm).The roof covering system must demonstrate a flame extension of at least 48 inches (1219 mm) and notmore than 72 inches (1829 mm) in the average of three baseline tests.As an alternate to determining baseline results using the adjustment of flame temperature, it shallbe permitted to adjust

16、m) thick plywood;b) Underlayment: ASTM D226 Type 1 Roofing Underlayment (also known as 15 lb RoofingFelt); andc) Roof Covering: Listed Class A 3 tab asphalt shingle, ASTM D3462, Standard Specificationsfor Asphalt Shingles Made from Glass Felt and Surfaced with Mineral Granules.RATIONALE FOR DECISION

17、:An alternative method for determining baseline results shall be permitted.This alternate method of establishing compliant baseline tests will enhance the repeatability of PV systemfire tests. This method ensures compliance with the spread of flame distance of 4 to 6 feet, allows for moreflexibility
