4、guide, thatincludes the required warning instructions required by Sections 78 and 79.76.3.2 All other instructions may be provided in electronic read-only media format only, such as a DVD,website, flash drive or CD-ROM. If any electronic media instructions are provided, the instructions andwarning s
5、tatements required by Section 76.1 shall also be included within the electronic mediainstructions.76.3.3 The printed instructions material referenced in Section 76.3 shall contain detailed instructions ofhow to obtain a printed copy of the material contained in electronic format.RATIONALE FOR DECISI
6、ON:UL 1795 specifies that instructions (installation, operating, and user-maintenance) shall be provided withthe hydromassage bathtub. In the past, these instructions in their entirety have been provided in hard copyprinted format. Manufacturers have requested some of this information be provided by
7、 other means toreduce the amount of printed materials. Manufacturers have indicated use of a company website forinstallation and operating instructions would be effective for these types of products.UL considered the option of the use of electronic media for all of the installation, operating, andus
8、er-maintenance instructions. The Important Safety Instructions specified in Section 77 would still berequired to be provided with each unit in printed form.Installation Instructions - Hydromassage bathtubs are nearly always installed by professional installers.These installers are becoming more reli
9、ant on electronic forms of media to increase the level of detail aswell as provide convenient links to manufacturer catalogues and supplemental information. UL believes itlikely that the rare layperson that installs these products would also be conscious of the need to consultand follow the installa
10、tion instructions. 11、a would be effectivefor some but not all of the operating instructions. This proposal would authorize all the operatinginstructions except those warning instructions relating to water heaters and the risk of hyperthermia(clauses 78.4 and 78.5).User-Maintenance Instructions Most hydromassage bathtubs
12、 have little user maintenance other thanperiodic cleaning. If this is the case, UL believes it unlikely a risk of fire, electric shock or mechanicalhazard would result from an improperly maintained hydromassage bathtub. This proposal would thereforeauthorize the use of electronic media for the clean
13、ing instructions of clause 80.3.The Use of Electronic Media in General UL notes that although the use of electronic media as adistribution mechanism would be effective in many cases, a small percentage of the population has nocomputer access. This proposal therefore mandates that instructions be pro
