3、ence: 15.6, 7.1 Exception No. 2Subject: MC-PCS cables with non Class 2 power conductors.DECISION:15.6 Class 2 or 3 powered conductors shall not be run in AC, MC cables, flexible metal conduit or cordswith non Class 2 or 3 powered conductors. Class 2 or 3 powered conductors may be run in MC-PCScables

4、 with non Class 2 or 3 powered conductors.7.1 Exception No. 2: Conductors for use in remote control, signaling, or communications circuits may besmaller than 12 AWG. Class 2 or 3 powered conductors may be run in MC-PCS cables with non Class 2or 3 powered conductors.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:The rationa

5、le for the revision included with the December 5, 2014 Subject 183 proposal to add a newClause 15.6 was as follows:“To address the issue of Class 2 and 3 circuit conductors being placed within the same raceway (AC, MC,FMC or S cord) as the electric light and power conductors clause 15.6 is proposed.

6、 Refer to NEC Article725.136(A) of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.”At the time that the Subject 183 proposal was issued, there was a Subject 1569 (MC Cable) CRD in affectthat permitted Class 2 and 3 circuit conductors to be placed within the same cable as the electric light andpower conductor

7、s. The cable complies with NEC Article 725.136(I) which permits Class 2 and 3 circuitconductors to be placed within the same cable as the electric light and power conductors where the Class2 and Class 3 conductors are separated from electric light and power conductors within the cable by ajacket ove

8、r the Class 2 and 3 conductors. The Cable is designated by UL 1569 as Type MC-PCS cable.The rationale for the CRD and eventual proposal is that Type MC-PCS cable is listed and complies withNEC Article 725.136(I) which permits Class 2 and 3 circuit conductors to be placed within the same cableas the

9、electric light and power conductors where the Class 2 and Class 3 conductors are separated fromelectric light and power conductors within the cable by a jacket over the Class 2 and 3 conductors.Copyright 2015 Underwriters Laboratories Inc.UL, in performing its functions in accordance with its object
