See Appendix A for a list of standards covering components generallyused in the products covered by this Standard.2.2 A component is not required to comp

35、eferences4.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this standard shall beinterpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.5 Glossary5.1 GASKETED JOINTS WITH SELF-RESTRAINING FEATURE Joints that use a device to preventseparation under pres

36、sure. These devices include, and are not limited to, mechanical joint retainerglands, flange adapters, special gaskets with locking segments, and retainer weldments.5.2 GASKETED JOINTS WITHOUT SELF-RESTRAINING FEATURE Joints consisting of a pipe orfitting bell and a spigot end with a gasket and with

37、out a feature for joint restraint.5.3 THICKNESS CLASS OF PIPE An identification for standardized thickness of pipe in accordancewith the Standard for Ductile-Iron Pipe, Centrifugally Cast, for Water or Other Liquids, AWWA C151/A21.51.CONSTRUCTION6 Materials6.1 The acceptability of materials shall be

38、 judged by their known characteristics, by the conditions of useto which the parts are subjected, and by tests intended to evaluate their capabilities.6.2 Castings shall be smooth, free from scale, lumps, cracks, blisters, sand holes, and defects of anynature that are capable of making them unfit fo

39、r the use for which they are intended. A casting shall notbe plugged or filled; however, impregnation to remove porosity is permitted.PERFORMANCE7 General7.1 Representative sample joints shall be subjected to the tests described in these requirements. Testbars of metal used in castings, steel bolts,

40、 and samples of parts constructed of nonmetallic materials, suchas rubber gaskets, shall be subjected to the tests specified.NOVEMBER 30, 2005UL 1946UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL8 Metallic Materials Test8.1 Specimen bars of

41、metals used shall be prepared from the same heat or run of metal used in the fittingsamples submitted for investigation and test. The specimen bars shall conform to the minimum physicalproperty requirements of the latest edition of the applicable ASTM or nationally recognized specification.Samples o

42、f bolts shall be tested without special machining.9 Elastomeric Gasket Materials Test9.1 An elastomeric gasket used to provide a seal shall have the following properties when tested asspecified in the Standard for Gaskets and Seals, UL 157:a) Gaskets for mechanical joint types:1) A minimum tensile s

43、trength of 1500 psi (10.3 MPa) and minimum ultimate elongationof 150 percent.2) Those properties relating to maximum tensile set; minimum tensile strength andelongation after oven aging; hardness after oven aging: and compression set, all asspecified in UL 157. The maximum service temperature used t

44、o determine the oventime and temperature for oven aging is 60C (140F).b) Gaskets for push-on joint types.1) For single material and sealing (soft) portion of dual material gaskets:i) A minimum tensile strength of 2000 psi (10.3 MPa) and minimum ultimateelongation of 300 percent.ii) Those properties

45、relating to maximum tensile set; minimum tensile strengthand elongation after oven aging; hardness after oven aging: and compressionset, all as specified in UL 157. The maximum service temperature used todetermine the oven time and temperature for oven aging is 60C (140F).2) For retaining (hard) por

46、tion of dual material gaskets:i) A minimum tensile strength of 1200 psi (8.3 MPa) and minimum ultimateelongation of 125 percent.ii) Those properties relating to minimum tensile strength and elongation afteroven aging as specified in UL 157. The maximum service temperature used todetermine the oven t

47、ime and temperature for oven aging is 60C (140F).9.2 The Standard for Gaskets and Seals, UL 157, provides for the testing of either finished elastomericparts or sheet or slab material. Sheet or slab material is to be tested when the elastomeric parts areO-rings having diameters of less than 1 inch (

48、25.4 mm). 49、Damage Test10.1 Joints having a self-restraining feature and incorporating setscrews or other restraining componentsthat are capable of adversely affecting the integrity of ductile-iron pipe shall not result in pipe puncture,pipe cracking or chipping, spalling, or removal of the pipe lining when tested in accordance with 10.2 and10.3.10.2 For this test, the portion of the pipe samples contacted by the setscrews or other restrainingcomponents shall:a) Represent the minimum thickness class specif
