、OUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover Halon 1211 recovery/recharge equipment rated 600 volts or less, andintended to be used in ordinary locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.2 Halon 1211 recovery/recharge equipment covered by these requ

、irements is intended for commercialuse to recover/recharge Halon 1211 in fire equipment, including but not limited to portable, wheeled andautomatic units and extinguishing systems.1.3 These requirements apply to equipment intended for indoor or outdoor use, or both and to batteryoperated equipment.

、1.4 These requirements include an evaluation to determine that the equipment recovers/recharges Halon1211 to an adequate fire extinguishing performance level for reuse.1.5 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those covered by the r

If incorporated in the equipment, a product that is otherwisetypically field installed (e.g. luminaire) is considered to be a component. Unless otherwise specified

、,materials that compose a device or fabricated part, such as aluminum or copper, are not consideredcomponents. Generally, components are incomplete in construction features or restricted inperformance capabilities. Such components are intended for use only under specific, limited conditions, such as

、certain temperatures not exceeding specified limits.5.6 CONTROL, OPERATING A device or assembly of devices, the operation of which starts orregulates the end product during normal operation. For example, a thermostat, the failure of which athermal cutout/limiter or another layer of protection would

、mitigate the potential hazard, is considered anoperating control. Operating controls are also referred to as “regulating controls”.5.7 CONTROL, PROTECTIVE A device or assembly of devices, the operation of which is intendedto reduce the risk of electric shock, fire or injury to persons during normal

、and reasonably anticipatedabnormal operation of the equipment. For example, a thermal cutout/limiter, or any other control/circuitrelied upon for normal and abnormal conditions, is considered a protective control. Protective controlsare also referred to as “limiting controls” or “safety controls” an
