19、YRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL INTRODUCTION 1 Scope 1.1 These requirements cover primary, secondary, and coaxial types of exible connector pipes intended for short length transfer and containment of the specic liquid fuels (or vap

20、ors thereof) identied in this standard, at commercial (public) or eet (private) automotive motor vehicle fueling stations or similar fuel dispensing applications, and piping systems for fuel supply of generators, burners or similar equipment. 1.2 Connector pipes may be metallic, nonmetallic, or comp

21、osite, but are limited to maximum 12 ft (3.65 m) lengths in nominal sizes up to 4 inches (102 mm) as exible transition components within fuel dispensing and/or vapor recovery piping systems, typically intended for use in the following automotive fueling station applications: a) Underground use (belo

22、w surface but accessible such as within chase piping) when connected to underground tanks or underground pipes with expected exposures to soil, water, and soil uids; b) Sump use (enclosed tank, transition or dispenser types) when connected to pumps, valves, monitors, or dispensing devices with expec

23、ted exposures to soil, water, soil uids, and occasional sunlight; c) Aboveground use (above surface but with additional physical protection) when connected to aboveground tanks or aboveground pipes with expected exposures to soil, water, soil uids, and sunlight. 1.3 Connector pipes are intended for

24、containment of automotive fuels and similar fuels or liquids under the expected use conditions, and exposures that have similar chemical, physical and material compatibility properties as represented in these requirements based on fuels formulated in accordance with 40 CFR Part 80, Regulation of Fue

25、ls and Fuel Additives, and meeting the following ASTM Fuel Specications and blend limitations: a) ASTM D-975, Standard Specication for Diesel Fuel Oils, with biodiesel blends up to a maximum of 5 percent (B5); b) ASTM D-7467, Standard Specication for Low Blend Biodiesel, with biodiesel blends betwee

26、n 6 to 20 percent (B6 to B20). c) ASTM D-4814, Standard Specication for Automotive Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel, gasoline or oxygenated gasoline, with limited ethanol blends up to a maximum of 10 percent (E10). d) ASTM D-5798, Standard Specication for Ethanol Fuel Blends for Flexible-Fuel Automotive S

29、lled and used in accordance with: a) Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, NFPA 30, b) Code for Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities and Garages, NFPA 30A, c) Uniform Fire Code, NFPA 1, d) International Fire Code published by the International Fire Council, or e) Other applicable federal and state reg

30、ulations for piping. 1.5 These products are factory manufactured and intended for on-site eld assembly, inspection, and leak testing for the specied applications and use conditions by qualied persons in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and local requirements. 1.6 These products are int

31、ended to be periodically inspected and maintained for continued service, or taken out of service if necessary, by qualied persons in accordance with industry recommended practices and/or the manufacturers instructions. 1.7 These products have not been evaluated for use after natural disasters, res o

32、r exposures to chemicals not representative of the test liquids or excessive physical damage beyond the expected assembly, installation and uses as identied in these requirements. 1.8 These products have not been evaluated for special use piping applications where exposed to heavy or continuous phys

33、ical abuses, excessive mechanical stresses; or environments that are highly corrosive; or operate outside of the expected ambient use temperature range for signicant times. 1.9 These requirements do not cover underground piping products for liquid fuels, which are found in Nonmetallic Underground Pi

40、hysical damage and the environmental conditions noted. 4.3 COAXIAL CONNECTOR PIPE (Coaxial) A double wall connector pipe construction consisting of integral primary and secondary pipes with a dened interstitial space that provides uid communication and monitoring capabilities. 4.4 FLEXIBLE CONNECTOR

41、 PIPE (Connector Pipe or Flex Connectors) A maximum 12 ft (3.65 m) long cylindrical thin-walled structure with integral end ttings designed for exibility in containing and conveying ammable and combustible liquids in applications identied in the intended scope of use. Pipe types include primary, sec

42、ondary and coaxial constructions. 4.5 FUELS Typically those liquids identied in 40 CFR Part 80, Regulation of Fuels and Fuel Additives, and compliant with only the ASTM Fuel Specication below that are dispensed in commercial or eet motor vehicle fueling stations for use in automotive engines (intern

43、al combustion or compression ignition) a) ASTM D 975, Standard Specication for Diesel Fuel Oils: on off-road diesel, or low blend biodiesel (max B5); b) ASTM D7467, Standard Specication for Low Blend Biodiesel: mid blend biodiesel (B6 B20). c) ASTM D4814, Standard Specication for Automotive Spark-Ig

Primary pipe is in

47、tended for long term continuous contact with the liquid. 4.7 QUALIFIED PERSON A worker specically trained by the manufacturer to perform proper assembly and installation of its piping systems in the eld in accordance with the specied instructions. The qualied person is not required to be an employee

48、 of the manufacturer. 4.8 SECONDARY CONNECTOR PIPE (Secondary) A single wall connector pipe construction intended to surround the primary, contain the liquid under abnormal conditions (such as primary rupture), and provide uid communication and monitoring capabilities. 4.9 SIZE (Pipe Size or Fitting

49、 Size) Nominal or trade dimensions (inches or mm) of connector pipe and ttings based on inside diameters or thread. Note - Nominal or trade sizes may not be equivalent to the actual measurements. 4.10 SUMP Accessible atmospheric enclosure located underground, typically below a dispenser, above a tank, or at grade between tanks and dispensers, and designed to house pipe, connections, equipment and contain spills. 4.11 SWIVEL JOINT A connection or joint designed to all
