、arked as though they are listed for the location where requiredto be by the NEC.The Scope of UL 2225 Ed. 1 covered only explosionproof cable fittings for Class I Division 2 for thepurpose of terminating cables with fittings required to be listed for the location by Section 501.10(B) of theNEC. These
、 fittings are explosionproof. UL has been certifying explosionproof cable fittings for Class I,Division 2 in UL category CYMX for more than 30 years. In accordance with UL 2225 section 37.10 b) thefittings listed for the location are marked “Class I, Division 2.”Where general purpose enclosures are
、permitted by the NEC in Class I, Division 2, cable fittings (such asgeneral purpose, flameproof d, increased safety e, and protection by enclosure t) are also permitted bythe NEC to be connected to the general purpose enclosures. The NEC does not require further markingfor use in the location due to
、 the risk of confusion with an item that is required by the NEC to be listed forthe location. The wording of the NEC in Articles 501, 502, 503, 505 and 506 is very specific in this regardwith respect to the termination of cables and cords.Marking a general purpose (or others as shown above) cable fi
、tting or cord connector “Class I, Division2” is the exact same marking permitted by UL 2225 Section 37.10 b). This risks confusion with the fittingsthat are required by the NEC to be listed for the location as they are marked identically. This poses is arisk of explosion in a Classified location as
