These devices are solid-state switches thatlimit the output current to a safe level when the output loa

4、d exceeds the current-limit threshold or when aload-side short-circuit is present. Solid-state overcurrent protectors are intended to be used on theload-side of an isolating transformer, power supply or battery to provide a means of supplementaryprotection. See Tables 1.1 and 1.2 for limited power s

5、ource (LPS) limitations; see also Section 9B. 12、iding a Limited Power Source asdefined in the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70 shall limit the current and power to those levelsspecified either in Table 1.1 or Table 1.2.9B.2 Following each of the tests specified in this Standard, the device shall comply with the limits specifiedin the appro

13、priate Table noted in 9B.1.22.3 Those devices complying with the requirements of Section 9B are permitted to be marked:a) “ Limited Power Source Overcurrent Protection Not Required”, “LPS-OCP Not Required” orthe equivalent for those devices that comply with the limits specified in Table 1.1 orb) “Li

14、mited Power Source (Overcurrent Protection Required)”, “LPS-OCP Required” or theequivalent for those devices that comply with the limits specified in Table 1.2RATIONALE FOR DECISION:UL 60950-1 provides that:2.5 P.2 NAE Limited power sourcesA limited power source shall comply with one of the followin

If a positivetemperature coefficient device is used, it shall pass the tests specified in IEC 60730-1, Clauses15, 17, J.15 and J.17

17、ircuit or short-circuit); ord) an overcurrent protective device is used and the output is limited in compliance with Table2C.Where an overcurrent protective device is used, it shall be a fuse or a non-adjustable, non-autoreset,electromechanical device.This decision provides that special purpose soli

18、d-state overcurrent protectors may be evaluated to serveas a LPS limiter (in compliance with the NEC with UL 60950-1 and with other Standards requiring aLimited Power Source) where they are:a) Intended to be used on the load-side of an isolating transformer or power supply or a battery,b) Designed f
