16、TERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL INTRODUCTION 1 Scope 1.1 These requirements cover glass-tube fuses intended for the protection of automotive wire and automotive apparatus. 1.2 These requirements do not cover glass-tube fuses intended for use

17、in circuits rated above 32 volts. 1.3 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the standard was developed and that involves a risk of re, electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate

18、additional component and end-product requirements as determined necessary to maintain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard. 2 Units of Measurement 2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. Values in parentheses are

19、explanatory or approximate information. 3 Components 3.1 Except as indicated in 3.2, a component of a value covered by this standard shall comply with the requirements for that component. 3.2 A component need not comply with a specic requirement that: a) Involves a feature or characteristic not need

20、ed in the application of the component in the value covered by this standard, or b) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard. 3.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions of use. 3.4 Specic components are incomplete in construction featur

CONSTRUCTION 5

23、 Material 5.1 Fuse tubes shall be of clear glass. 5.2 Fuse caps shall be of brass or copper. Caps shall be plated with nickel, cadmium, or other material having equivalent electrical and protective properties. 6 Assembly 6.1 Fuse caps shall be tightly attached to the glass tube, and the ends shall b

24、e square and free of excess solder. The caps shall have an outside diameter of 0.25 0.003 inch (6.4 0.08 mm). 6.2 The fuses shall be capable of being passed through a tubular gauge at least as long as the fuse and having a uniform hole 0.258 inch (6.55 mm) in diameter. 6.3 Fuse dimensions shall be i

25、n accordance with Table 6.1 or may be 1-1/4 inch (31.8 mm) in length with the dimensions specied for a 20 ampere rated fuse. 28、eneral 7.1 The following tests are to be conducted in an ambient temperature of 65 90F (18.3 32.2C), and with the fuses in the horizontal position. 7.2 Fuses subjected to the Carrying Capacity Test, Section 8, may be used for the Overload, Section 9, and Cycling Test, Section 10. 8 Carrying Capacity

29、 8.1 The fuses shall carry 110 percent of rated current continuously. 8.2 It is judged that a fuse will carry the current continuously when it has carried the current long enough to produce constant temperatures as determined by a glass-bulb mercury thermometer in contact with the fuse. 9 Overload 9

30、.1 The fuses shall blow in less than 1 hour when carrying 135 percent of rated current. 9.2 Fuses shall blow in less than 10 seconds when carrying 200 percent of rated current. 10 Cycling Test 10.1 Fuses shall not blow during a 50,000 cycle load test. 10.2 Each cycle shall consist of the alternate a

31、pplication of 70 percent of rated amperes and zero load for 10 second intervals. MARKING 11 General 11.1 The manufacturers or private labelers name or identifying symbol and the ampere rating shall be stamped on one cap of each fuse. 11.2 If a manufacturer produces fuses at more than one factory, each fuse shall have a distinctive marking to identify it as the product of a particular factory.
