11、e types are additionally noted in this document. The standard may not use all types of thesedeviations.D1 - These are deviations which are based on basic safety principles and requirements, elimination ofwhich would compromise safety for U.S. consumers and users of products.D2 - These are deviations

12、 based on safety practices. These are deviations for IEC requirements that maybe acceptable, but adopting the IEC requirements would require considerable retesting or redesign on themanufacturers part.DC - These are deviations based on the component standards and will not be deleted until a particul

13、arcomponent standard is harmonized with the IEC component standard.DE - These are deviations based on editorial comments or corrections.DR - These are deviations based on the national regulatory requirements.Each national difference contains a description of what the national difference entails. Typ

14、ically one of thefollowing words is used to explain how the text of the national difference is to be applied to the base IECtext:Addition / Add - An addition entails adding a complete new numbered clause, subclause, table,figure, or annex. Addition is not meant to include adding select words to the

15、base IEC text.Deletion / Delete - A deletion entails complete deletion of an entire numbered clause, subclause,table, figure, or annex without any replacement text.Modification / Modify - A modification is an altering of the existing base IEC text such as theaddition, replacement or deletion of cert

18、or less. Theseirons are intended to be employed in accordance with the National Electrical Code,ANSI/NFPA 70. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or otherliquids.3. Always turn the iron O

25、FF before plugging or unplugging the iron from theelectrical outlet. Never pull on the cord to disconnect the iron from the electricaloutlet; instead, grasp the plug and pull on the plug to disconnect the iron.4. Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces. Let the iron cool completely beforeputting the

26、iron away. Coil the cord loosely around the iron when storing.5. Always disconnect the iron from the electrical outlet before filling the iron withwater, emptying the water from the iron, and when the iron is not in use.6. Do not operate the iron with a damaged cord or in the event the iron has been

27、dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble theiron. Take it to a qualified serviceman for examination and repair. Incorrectassembly might result in a risk of electric shock when the iron is used afterreassembly.7. Close supervision is required for any appliance used

28、by or near children. Donot leave the iron unattended while the iron is connected or on an ironing board.8. Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Usecaution when you turn a STEAM IRON upside down there might be hot water in thereservoir.9. To avoid a circuit overload, do

29、 not operate an iron on the same circuit withanother high wattage appliance.10. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a cord with an ampere ratingequal to or greater than the maximum rating of the iron shall be used. A cordrated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shoc

30、k due tooverheating.
