10、Differences included in the UL adoptionof the corresponding IEC standard.In its IEC-based standards, UL uses the notations indicated below to identify national difference type, andthese types are additionally noted in this document. The standard may not use all types of thesedeviations.D1 - These ar

11、e deviations which are based on basic safety principles and requirements, elimination ofwhich would compromise safety for U.S. consumers and users of products.D2 - These are deviations based on safety practices. These are deviations for IEC requirements that maybe acceptable, but adopting the IEC re

12、quirements would require considerable retesting or redesign on themanufacturers part.DC - These are deviations based on the component standards and will not be deleted until a particularcomponent standard is harmonized with the IEC component standard.DE - These are deviations based on editorial comm

13、ents or corrections.DR - These are deviations based on the national regulatory requirements.Each national difference contains a description of what the national difference entails. Typically one of thefollowing words is used to explain how the text of the national difference is to be applied to the

14、base IECtext:Addition / Add - An addition entails adding a complete new numbered clause, subclause, table,figure, or annex. Addition is not meant to include adding select words to the base IEC text.Deletion / Delete - A deletion entails complete deletion of an entire numbered clause, subclause,table

15、, figure, or annex without any replacement text.Modification / Modify - A modification is an altering of the existing base IEC text such as theaddition, replacement or deletion of certain words or the replacement of an entire clause,subclause, table, figure, or annex of the base IEC text.SEPTEMBER 1

17、National Electrical Code8.1DV D1 Addition: Add the following to Subclause 8.1 of this Part 2:For all hedge trimmers:“DANGER KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM BLADE”8.12.1DV D1 Addition: Add the following clause to 8.12.1 of the Part 1:8.12.1.1ADV Additional safety instructions for hedge trimmers that comply with

18、19.101ADV.3.Hedge trimmer safety warning: Use both hands when operating the hedge trimmer. Using one hand could cause loss ofcontrol and result in serious personal injury.8.12.1.1DV DR Modification: Add the statement “Blades coast after turn off” after thethird sentence of the first bullet point. De

19、lete the second sentence, When transportingor storing the hedge trimmer always fit the cutting device cover, of the second bulletpoint. Add the following bullet point to this Part 2: DANGER Keep hands away from blade. Contact with blade will result in serious personalinjury.NOTE: Paragraph shown bel

20、ow to demonstrate where additional statement is to beinserted.Keep all parts of the body away from the cutter blade. Do not remove cut material or holdmaterial to be cut when blades are moving. Make sure the switch is off when clearingjammed material. Blades coast after turn off. A moment of inatten

21、tion while operating thehedge trimmer may result in serious personal injury.8.12.2.DV DR Modification: Add the following to item b) of Clause 8.12.2 of this Part 2:103A) Instructions for proper assembly of the handle and/or guard if the hedge trimmer isshipped without the handle or guard in place. I

Theuse of the hedge trimmer without the proper guard or handle provided may result inserious personal injury.19.101DV D1 Modification: Delete the last two paragraphs before the compliancestatement and add the following to this Part 2:19.101ADV Adjustable handles19.101ADV.1 Hedg

24、e trimmers with adjustable handle systems shall comply with therequirements of: 19.101ADV.2,or 19.101ADV.319.101ADV.2 Handles shall be positively locked in position. If they are adjustable indifferent positions, it shall not be possible to lock them in a position which contravenesother provisions of

25、 this standard.For handles that rotate axially from side to side and which are adjustable without the useof a tool, it shall not be possible to alter the handle position when the cutting device isoperating. When altering the handle position the cutting device shall be inoperable.Compliance is checke

26、d by inspection and measurement.19.101ADV.3 Handles that are adjustable without a tool while the cutting device isoperational shall comply with the requirements of 19.101ADV.3.1 19.101ADV.3.6.19.101ADV.3.1 The handles shall not exceed a maximum side-to-side axial rotation of 905 starting from the 0

27、centre position. See Figures 112DV and 113DV.The handle shall have positive locking detents at 0, see Figures 112DV and 113DV and ateach end of the maximum adjustment of the handle. Additional intermediate positivelocking detents between these points are acceptable. The handle shall automatically lo

28、ckinto each locking detent positions when adjusting the handle, unless the handle releasecontrol is pressed.19.101ADV.3.2 The hedge trimmer rotating handles shall comply with the requirements ofeither A or B, as follows:A) The free rotation of the blade shall be limited when the hedge trimmer is hel

29、dby any handle.Compliance is checked by inspection and the following test.The axis of the blade is orientated at 45 from the horizontal position, while thehedge trimmer is held in position by the handle. While the handle is held in anynon-detent position, the portion of the hedge trimmer that holds

30、the bladeunrestrained, the blade, or any other respective grasping handle shall not rotatemore than 5. 31、OUT PERMISSION FROM ULB) The rotating handle of the hedge trimmer shall have intermediate lockingdetent(s) limiting rotation to a maximum of 60 measured from the 0 centreposition in either direction. The detents may be intentionally overridden by ahandle release control.Compliance is checked by insp

32、ection and measurement.19.101ADV.3.3 An adjustable handle shall be provided with a momentary handle releasecontrol to disengage the handle from a locked position. Operation of the handle releasecontrol shall be possible without impairing physical control of the hedge trimmer.Compliance is checked by

33、 inspection.19.101ADV.3.4 The handle release control shall meet the requirements of 19.101ADV.3.4.1or 19.101ADV.3.4.2.19.101ADV.3.4.1 The handle release control shall be located outside the grasping area,indicated in 8.12.2 b) 103).Compliance is checked by inspection.19.101ADV.3.4.2 The handle relea

34、se control shall be designed so that it is not likely to beunintentionally pressed during intended left- or right-handed operation by meeting therequirements of 19.101ADV.3.4.2.1 or 19.101ADV.3.4.2.2 if the control is located within thegrasping area.19.101ADV.3.4.2.1 The handle release control shall

35、 require two separate and distinctmotions to release the handle.Compliance is checked by inspection.19.101ADV.3.4.2.2 The handle release control shall be recessed such that it is not likely tobe unintentionally pressed during use.Compliance is checked by the following manual test.The handle release

36、control shall not be actuated by a straight-edged utensil when theutensil is made to pass back and forth across the device in any direction. Thestraight-edged utensil may be of any convenient length sufficient to bridge the surface ofthe handle release control and any surface adjacent to the handle

37、release control.19.101ADV.3.5 A handle release control mechanism shall have adequate strength.Compliance is checked by inspection and the following test.A torque of 6 Nm shall be applied to the handle release control mechanism for 1 min. Whilethe handle is in the locking detent position, the torque

38、to the handle shall be applied in linewith the direction of its intended handle movement, and it shall be applied in each directionof movement, as applicable. The test shall be conducted with the handle positioned in eachlocking detent position.During the test, the handle shall not disengage from th

40、shall be designed to possess sufficient protectionagainst premature failure.Compliance is checked by the following test.The handle release control shall be cycled 10 000 times in the intended manner underconditions of its maximum travel at a minimum of 6 cycles per minute.At the conclusion of the co

41、nditioning, the handle release control shall perform as intendedand shall comply with the test of 19.101ADV.3.5.19.102DV DR Modification: Replace entire Clause 19.102 of this Part 2 with thefollowing:From any handle it shall not be possible to touch the moving cutter blade with fingersspread out.For

42、 tools of category 2 and 3, a guard shall be provided between the cutting blades andthe sections of the hedge trimmer contacted by the user when exercising physical controlof the hedge trimmer during use, to prevent fingers from touching the blade.Compliance is checked by inspection and measurement.

43、The total measurement (x1plus x2distances) shall not be less than 120 mm as shown inFigure 105ADV and shall be measured along the shortest path from the backside of thehandle, via the edge of the blade guard, to the nearest cutting edge of the cutter blade.The dimensions of the guard in relation to

44、the front handle shall be such that it providesa protecting barrier to the cutting device relative to the top and sides of the front handle.Compliance is checked by inspection and measurement.For hedge trimmers where the cutting device can be adjusted left or right along an axis ofrotation, the guar

45、d shall comply with the requirements of 19.102DV.1 and 19.102DV.2.For all hedge trimmers, the width of the guard, measured from the centreline of the cutterblade to each furthest left and right edge of the guard, shall be a minimum of 50 mm at aminimum height of 90 mm, measured perpendicularly from

46、the shearing plane of thecutting device in the 0 position. 47、tting device, the height of theguard shall be a minimum of 90 mm measured from the tip of the cutter blade tooth tothe top of the guard in any orientation measured in a direction perpendicular to theshearing plane of the cutting device in the 0 position.19.102DV.2 DR The width of the guard shall ext

48、end 25 mm beyond the blade tooth whenthe cutting device is adjusted to its full left and right rotational position. See Figure115DV. For hedge trimmers with an adjustable cutting device, the height of the guardshall be a minimum of 90 mm measured from the tip of the cutter blade tooth to the topof t
