、UL TECHNICAL GUIDANCE DOCUMENT This Document is prepared and published by UL. Product Category (CCN): FKVS, FKVS7 Standard Number: UL935 Edition Date: May 21, 2001 Edition Number: 10th Section / Paragraph Reference: 21.8 Subject: Adding new lamps to an existing fluorescent ballast certification GUID
、ANCE: When requested to add a new lamp to an existing fluorescent ballast certification: (a) If the ballast certification already covers a similar lamp(1)that draws more power(2), then you can waive all tests except for the Risk of Shock - Through Lamp Measurement. The input rating associated with t
、he similar lamp applies to the new lamp, except as noted in (c). (b) If the ballast certification already covers a similar lamp(1)that is easier to start(3), then you can waive the Risk of Shock - Through Lamp Measurement. (c) If the ballast manufacturer chooses to publish an input rating for the ne
、w lamp that is different than the rating published for the similar lamp, you would need to conduct Input Measurements with the new lamp to establish this rating. Notes: (1)A similar lamp is one with the same geometry (straight tubular, U-bend, compact, etc.), lamp base (T8, T12, etc.) and current cl
、ass (VO, VHO, etc.) as the new lamp. (2)To determine the relative power draw of two or more lamps, use the rated arc wattage as tabulated in ANSI/ANSLG C78.81 or IEC 60081. If no ANSI or IEC datasheet is available, the lamp manufacturers datasheet should be used. (3)The lamp datasheets in ANSI/ANSLG
、 C78.81 or IEC 60081 can be used to determine the lamp starting voltage. If no ANSI or IEC datasheet is available, the lamp manufacturers datasheet should be used. Generally, shorter length lamps, or lamps with lower listed starting voltages will start easier. UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED

Therefore, the ballast n
