Devices that have beenidentified are as follows:a) Adapters and fittings, which include those that convert one connection to another;b) Excess flow and check valve adapters and fittings;c) Filling adapters;d) Gauge adapter and fittings;e) Quick-C
10、onnect Couplings (other than for low pressure couplings in accordance with theStandard for Quick Disconnect Devices for Use with Gas Fuel Appliances, CSA/ANSI Z21.41;f) Sight flow indicators;g) Breakaway couplings;h) Thermal shutoff adapters and fittings; andi) Unloading adapters.1.2 Devices covered

15、 specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this outline, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this outline.2.1.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended co
16、nditions ofuse.2.1.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performancecapabilities. Devices intended to be used downstream ofa LP-Gas pump, or dispensing unit shall be rated for use at a pressure not less th
24、an 350 psig.2.4.2 Adapters, couplings and fittings that are intended for use with natural gas, liquefied petroleum (LP)gases in the gaseous phase and LP-Gas-air mixtures shall be rated for 1/2, 2, 5 psig or higher than 5 psigin 5 psi increments up to and including a maximum operating pressure of 125
25、 psig.2.4.3 Devices other than noted in 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 shall be rated not less than the pressure rating of thepiping system to which they are intended to be installed.2.5 Temperature rating2.5.1 Adapters, couplings and fittings that are intended for use with LP-Gas or anhydrous ammonia at apressure
26、 greater than 20 psig shall be rated for outdoor use. All other devices may be rated for indoor oroutdoor use.2.5.2 Outdoor use shall include an ambient temperature range not less than the range of minus 40F(minus 40C) 130F (55C).2.5.3 Indoor use shall include an ambient temperature range not less t

28、or size of connection to another.3.3 BODY The principal structure of the device that contains and supports internal mechanisms andconstitutes the main gas passage.3.4 BREAKAWAY COUPLING A coupling that incorporates a weak section that is designed tofracture when a sufficient force is applied.3.5 BYP
29、ASS A passageway, orifice, or path that permits fluid flow entirely independent of the actionof a mechanism or valve.3.6 CHECK VALVE, BACKPRESSURE A device that permits fluid flow in only one direction.3.7 CONNECTION That part of the device that mates with the piping system component, e.g. valve,reg
30、ulator, hose assembly, another fitting or adapter, or piping component.3.8 EXCESS FLOW MECHANISM (VALVE) A device that is in an open position and closes when aspecified amount of flow (liquid or vapor) is obtained.3.9 GAUGING DEVICE A device that measures either pressure or liquid level in a contain
31、er orpiping system. Pressure type gauging devices may be considered leak detectors by indicating pressureloss in a piping system between two shutoff valves.3.10 LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LP-GAS OR LPG) Any material having a vapor pressure notexceeding that allowed for commercial propane that is compo
32、sed predominantly of the followinghydrocarbons, either by themselves (excluding propylene) or as mixtures: propane, propylene, butane(normal butane or isobutane) and butylenes.3.11 QUICK CONNECT DEVICE A device that consists of two parts, which provides a means formanually connecting and disconnecti
33、ng components of a piping or hose system or appliance, withoutthe use of tools.3.12 SIGHT FLOW INDICATOR A device that incorporates a means to visually inspect liquid flowconditions.3.13 THERMAL SHUTOFF VALVE A device that is in an open position and closes when the deviceis exposed to a specified te

36、required for its normal function.5.2 When an adapter, fitting or coupling is of a design that requires the use of special pipe flanges,gaskets, bolts, or other special parts to create a proper installation, such parts shall be furnished by themanufacturer with each device.Exception: Each portion of
37、a quick connect coupling can be provided separately.5.3 Adapters, fittings and couplings shall be constructed to discourage disassembly in the field beyondthat needed for regular maintenance.5.4 Parts of adapters, fittings or couplings that come in contact with a diaphragm shall not have sharpedges
38、that may damage it.5.5 Manual shutoff valves that are incorporated into adapters and couplings shall comply with therequirements of the Standard for Valves for Anhydrous Ammonia and LP-Gas (other Than Safety Relief),UL 125.5.6 An adapter shall not be constructed with a CGA V-1 Standard Connection No
39、. 510, 555, or 791 nippleand nut assembly, or a Connection No. 810 plug on one end and a Connection 600 valve outlet assemblyon the other end.6 Excess Flow Mechanisms6.1 An excess flow mechanism shall be constructed with mechanical means that will prevent gas flow inexcess of the manufacturers speci
40、fied maximum flow rate at maximum inlet operating pressure atstandard conditions.6.2 An excess flow mechanism for natural gas service, liquefied petroleum (LP) gases in the gaseousphase and LP-Gas-air mixtures not exceeding 1/2 psig shall incorporate an automatic reset feature thatresets only when d
41、esigned to do so.6.3 An excess flow mechanism in a Type I (CGA 791) or Type II (CGA 810) cylinder connection shallcomply with the Standard for Adapters and Cylinder Connection Devices for Portable LP-Gas CylinderAssemblies, UL 2061.6.4 An excess flow mechanism for use with LP-Gas or anhydrous ammoni

43、nism for LP-Gas service may employ either an automatic or manual resetfeature.6.6 An excess flow mechanism that incorporates a bypass shall have a bypass area not to exceed thatof a No. 60 size drill (0.040 inch diameter).7 Quick Connect Couplings and Adapters7.1 Quick connect couplings shall be equ
44、ipped with an automatic means to shut off the fluid supply, suchas a resilient seat check valve, when the two parts of the device are disconnected. A check valve mayalso be provided in the downstream portion.7.2 Quick connect couplings for natural, manufactured and mixed gases, or LP-Gas not exceedi
45、ng 1/2 psi(3.5 kPa) shall comply with the applicable requirements of Quick Disconnect Devices for Use With GasFuel Appliances, CSA/ANSI Z21.41.7.3 Adapters, fittings or couplings that incorporate a CGA V-1 Standard Connection No. 791 or 810components shall comply with the applicable requirements of
46、the Standard for Adapters and CylinderConnection Devices for Portable LP-Gas Cylinder Assemblies, UL 2061.Exception No. 1: Filling adapters are permitted to incorporate the profile dimensions of a CGA StandardV-1, Connection Nos. 791 or 810, without having thermal shutoff or excess flow valve compon
47、ents.Exception No. 2: An adapter that incorporates a CGA V-1 Standard Connection No. 791 nipple/couplingnut on one end and a No. 791 valve outlet on the other end shall only be required to incorporate a checkvalve in the No. 791 valve outlet portion of the adapter.8 Thermal Shutoff Devices8.1 Therma
48、l shutoff mechanisms in adapters, fittings, and couplings, other than those incorporated into aCGA Standard V-1, Connection Nos. 791 or 810, shall be of such a design that once activated shall closeand not re-open to allow flow.9 Sight Flow Indicators9.1 Glass covering an opening shall be of the non
49、-shattering or tempered type, secured in place so thatit cannot be readily displaced in service, and shall have a minimum thickness of 1/16 inch (1.6 mm).9.2 Glass shall be provided with self-closing mechanical protection or shall be able to withstand a 5 ft-lb(22.2 N) impact without cracking or breaking.
