6、uildingsfor commercial, industrial and residential use. These assemblies incorporate pre-installed branch circuitelectrical power distribution systems which are usually concealed and may not be accessible forinspection at the installation site. Some panels incorporate audio, lighting, ventilation fa
7、ns and otherutilization equipment.1.2 The panel systems are evaluated only for installation in ordinary locations in accordance with theNational Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. Special Occupancies as specified in ANSI/NFPA 70 are notaddressed by these requirements.1.3 Composite panel assemblies cover
8、ed by this outline are intended to be installed in accordance withthe National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, where the acceptability of the field assembled panel systemis determined by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.1.4 The surface flammability or fire resistance of the panel or panel system is

18、hanical anchoring systems, panel joining brackets or proprietary electrical materialssuch as electrical enclosures and electrical outlet box supports for use and installation with a compositepanel system.6.3 COMPOSITE PANEL Two typically parallel surfaces provided with an integral spacer material or
19、separate spacers to separate the surfaces. The panel may be provided with insulation materialsbetween the surfaces. For the purpose of these requirements the panels are provided with an electricalsystem that may be concealed after the panel is assembled.6.4 PANEL SYSTEM Two or more composite panels

21、Code,ANSI/NFPA 70, Chapter 3.7.2 Remote-Control, Signaling and Power-Limited Circuits shall be installed utilizing one of the methodsspecified in the National Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, Article 725.7.3 Grounding and Bonding shall be provided as specified in the National Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70
22、,Article 250.8 Interconnection of Panels8.1 Panels that are intended to be electrically interconnected shall also be mechanically interconnected.8.2 Panels that are intended to be electrically interconnected shall be provided with a means to routeconductors from one panel to the next electrified pan
23、el. The means shall be consistent with therequirements of Chapter 3 of the National Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. Some typical examples areshown in Figure 8.1. 25、he building wiring system. The means shall be consistent with therequirements of Chapter 3 of the National Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. Some typical examples areshown in Figure 8.1.8.4 If more than one panel in an interconnected panel system has provision for connection to the buildingwiring system
26、each connection point shall be marked as indicated in 13.5.8.5 Some panel systems may be connected to the building wiring system by cord and/or plug connection.Cords shall be of the extra hard usage “S” cord type. The connection of the cord to the panel shall be toa factory installed junction box ut
27、ilizing a standard conduit fitting, knockout or opening size. Thearrangement shall be such that it is possible to field disconnect the cord and field install a permanentwiring system by disconnecting and removing the cord and installing a suitable raceway. The cord shallbe provided with a suitable c
28、ord grip for strain relief that complies with the Standard for Conduit, Tubing,and Cable Fittings, UL 514B.8.6 The current and voltage rating of the cord shall not be less than that of the branch circuit overcurrentprotection required to supply the panel system. The cord shall comply with the Nation
29、al Electric Code,ANSI/NFPA 70, Article 400.8.7 The current rating of an attachment plug or cord fitting shall not be less than 125 percent of themaximum current input of the panel system circuit(s) it supplies.8.8 The field wiring connection point of the panel system shall be marked with the informa
30、tion necessaryfor the qualified installer to determine the proper wiring circuit configuration, conductor size, temperatureand branch circuit overcurrent protection required to supply the panel system. Refer to 13.5.9 Mechanical Accessories9.1 Outlet boxes intended to support utilization equipment s
31、hall be marked and evaluated for the purpose.Outlet boxes intended to support utilization equipment shall be subjected to the Outlet Box Support Test,Section 11.10 Electrical Accessories10.1 Electrical accessories shall not be cord and plug connected unless the installation of the accessorycomplies

The panel shallbe the size and configuration that offers the least support.Exception: Outlet boxes mounted to the composite panel in accordance with their installatio
34、nsinstructions are not required to be subjected to the test.11.2 The method of attaching a metallic outlet box to the panel system shall be subjected to the testmethod outlined in the Standard for Metallic Outlet Boxes, UL 514A for “Boxes intended to support afixture/luminaire or other product” or “
35、Ceiling-suspended fan support” as specified in the outlet boxmarkings and installation instructions.11.3 The method of attaching a nonmetallic outlet box to the panel system shall be subjected to the testmethod outlined in the Standard for Nonmetallic Outlet Boxes, Flush-Device Boxes, and Covers, UL
36、 514Cfor “Ceiling-Suspended Fan Support” as specified in the outlet box markings and installation instructions.MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION LINE TESTS12 Grounding Continuity Test12.1 Each composite panel or panel system shall be tested as specified in 12.2, as a routineproduction-line test, to deter
37、mine that grounding continuity exists between all portions of the electricalgrounding and bonding system.12.2 A continuity indicating device such as an ohmmeter, battery-and-buzzer combination, or similardevice is to be used to determine compliance with 12.1.MARKINGS13 General13.1 All required marki
38、ngs shall be permanent die-stamped, ink-stamped, or paint-stenciled lettering.Adhesive-backed label systems shall comply with the requirements for indoor-use labels in the Standardfor Marking and Labeling Systems, UL 969. Minimum letter height shall be 3/32 in (2.4 mm) as measuredby characters, such
39、 as b, 1, and H. A contrasting background shall be provided for legibility.13.2 A panel system shall be marked with the:a) Company name trade name, or trademark;b) The date or other dating period of manufacture not exceeding any three consecutive months;andc) A distinctive catalog number or the equi

41、ture not exceeding any three consecutive months;andc) A distinctive catalog number or the equivalent.Exception: The date of manufacture is in compliance when abbreviated or in a nationally recognizedconventional code or in a code affirmed by the manufacturer, only when the code:a) Does not repeat in
42、 less than 20 years andb) Does not require reference to the production records of the manufacturer to determine whenthe product was manufactured.13.4 Each accessory that is shipped separately from the panel system with which it is to be used shall bemarked as specified in 11.2 and shall be identifie
43、d with respect to its intended use and interrelationshipwith the Panel System; for example For Use with Composite Panel Series _ in which theappropriate series, or catalog number is designated. When accessories are factory-assembled andshipped together, only the complete assembly and not the accesso
44、ry is required to be marked.Exception: An accessory, the physical size of which is such that all the required markings are not ableto be physically placed on the accessory and maintain the minimum letter heights specified in 13.1, shallbe marked with the name, trade name, or trademark and the date o
45、r other dating period of manufacture.All other required markings shall be provided on the smallest shipping container.13.5 Each panel system field wiring connection point shall be marked with a schematic, wiring diagram,or the equivalent, indicating the circuits and conductors provided and the requi
46、red rating of the branchcircuit to which the system is intended to be connected. The diagram or equivalent marking shall belocated so that it is visible after installation of the assembly.13.6 A panel system with other than a single phase circuit shall have devices (receptacles, switches, fanspeed c
47、ontrollers, dimmers, etc.) and utilization equipment marked by a letter, number, color, or a similardesignation to indicate the circuit in the system to which the device or utilization equipment is connected.The identification shall be consistent throughout the system, and with any markings on the d
48、iagram forbranch-circuit connections as required in 13.5. The marking shall be visible without disassembly of theproduct.13.7 Each electrical accessory that is an electrical load on a circuit (such as a Luminaire, a motor, orsimilar accessories) shall be marked with its electrical rating in volts an
