7、IAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 This outline covers corrugated medical tubing systems intended for use in hospitals and healthcenters for distribution of nonflammable medical gas in accordance with the Standard for Health Ca

8、reFacilities, NFPA 99.1.2 CMT systems are intended for inside aboveground and in slab, when installed in approvednonmetallic conduit, applications only.1.3 This outline covers medical tubing systems up to 2 inches (50.8 mm), based on the nominal insidediameter of the tubing.1.4 These products have n

9、ot been evaluated for use after fires, natural disasters such as earthquakes, orexcessive physical damage beyond the expected assembly, installation and uses as identified in theserequirements.1.5 These products are intended to be periodically inspected and maintained for continued service, ortaken

10、out of service if necessary by qualified persons in accordance with industry recommended practicesand/or the manufacturers instructions.2 Units of Measurement2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. Values in parentheses are explanatory orapproximate information.3 Undated Reference

11、s3.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this outline shall beinterpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.4 Components4.1 Except as indicated in 4.2, a component of a product covered by this standard shall comply with therequiremen

14、ance capabilities.Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such as certain temperatures notexceeding specified limits, and shall be used only under those specific conditions.CONSTRUCTION5 General5.1 A product shall employ materials found by investigation and allowed by NFP

15、A 99 to be acceptable forthe intended application.5.2 Corrugated medical tubing systems shall be constructed entirely of new and unused parts andmaterials.5.3 A product shall be assembled so that it will not be adversely affected by the vibration of normaloperation.PERFORMANCE6 General6.1 Representa

16、tive samples of each size and specific construction of the CMT are to be subjected to thetests described in these requirements.6.2 CMT systems are to be tested on the following basis consistent with the intended use of the productand Table 6.1:a) Size or diameter;b) Minimum radius of bend (per manuf

18、 requiring pressure a calibrated pressure-indicating device is to be mounted to indicatepressures developed within the vessel. The pressure-indicating device shall comply with one of thefollowing:a) An analog gauge having a pressure range of at least 150 percent of the anticipatedmaximum working pre

20、ivalent to the devices in (a) or (b).7 External Leakage Test7.1 A CMT system shall not leak when tested as described below.7.2 One sample of each diameter, not less than 3 feet (914 m) in length, shall be installed with one endconnected to an air supply source and the other end plugged. The pressure

21、 is slowly increased to 1-1/2times rated pressure and maintained at that pressure for at least 1 minute.8 Hydrostatic-Strength Test8.1 A medical tubing system shall not leak nor rupture when tested as described below.8.2 One sample of each diameter per Table 6.1 having a minimum length of 24 inches

22、(610 mm) shall beused in this test. The sample is to be installed in a straight line, with one end attached to the pressuresource and other end plugged and free. Each sample is to be filled with water so as to exclude all air.8.3 The pressure is to be uniformly raised to 1-1/2 times rated pressure a

23、nd maintained at that pressurefor at least 1 minute. The tubing is then to be bent with a radius of curvature as specified in Table 6.1 andthe pressure maintained for one additional minute.8.4 With the tubing maintained in the bent position, the pressure is then to be increased to 3.5 timesmaximum r

24、ated at least pressure for 1 minute.9 Impact Test9.1 The medical tubing system shall withstand an impact of 30 ft-lb (40.67 Nm), using a 10 lb.(4.54 kg)weight falling 3 ft. (0.914 m) through a vertical guide tube, without external leakage, per Section 7, beforeand after having been tested as describ

25、ed below. The striking nose of the falling weight shall have a 0.5in (12.7 mm) spherical radius and shall be made of steel.9.2 A tubing assembly consisting of each type of fitting and 2 ft. (610 mm) long sections of each type sizeshall be assembled in accordance with the manufacturers installation i

26、nstructions.9.3 A V-block steel holder shall be used to support the tubing for impacting. The sides of the “V” shall beof sufficient length to support the tubing below the top edges of the “V.” The V-block and the samples tobe impacted shall be supported on a hard flat surface.9.4 A total of 5 speci

27、mens of the tubing shall be impacted, with each specimen being impacted once. 28、OUT PERMISSION FROM UL9.5 A total of five specimens of each type of fitting shall be impacted, with each specimen being impactedonce. The arrangement shall be such that the striking nose of the falling weight will impact at thecenterline of contact between the striking weight and the longitudinal ce

29、nter of the fitting.10 Axial Tension Test10.1 The CMT system shall withstand the tension without external leakage, per Section 7, before andafter having been tested as described below.10.2 Test samples consisting of each size of piping and each type of fitting on each end shall beassembled in accord

30、ance with the manufacturers installation instructions. The sample length shall bebased on a minimum length over internal diameter ratio (L/D) of 6, but shall be at least 6 in (152 mm) long.10.3 One end of the assembly shall be securely attached to a fixed hose to which a hydrostatic supplysystem and

31、 pressure gage was connected. The assembly shall be pressurized to its maximum operatingpressure. The other end was securely attached in a similar manner to a closed hose connected to amechanical means capable of applying a constant pulling force of 800 lb/in2of nominal inside tubediameter.10.4 The

32、required tensile load shall be applied at a rate smooth and continuous, and then maintained forat least 5 minutes. The tubing assembly is removed from the test apparatus and the external leakage testshall be repeated.11 Torsion Test11.1 The system shall withstand the maximum torsion stresses specifi

33、ed in Table 6.1. The ExternalLeakage Test, Section 7, shall be conducted before and after having been tested as described below.11.2 One sample not less than 24 inches (610 mm) in length of each tube was tested. One end was firmlysecured and the other end was anchored in a straight line such that it

34、 could be rotated. A torsional stressshall be gradually increased until the stress indicated in table 1 shall be applied to the rotatable end.11.3 The stress shall be then removed and the sample shall be subjected to the external leakage test.12 Temperature Test12.1 The CMT fitting shall withstand a

35、 temperature of 1000 F (538 C) for 30 minutes, without leaking inexcess of 6.0 ft3of air per hour. The External Leakage Test, Section 7, shall be conducted before asdescribed below.12.2 An assembly with one of each type of fitting shall be assembled in accordance with themanufacturers installation i

36、nstructions. The outlet of the assembly is sealed and the inlet is connected toa system capable of supplying clean dry air at the specified test pressure, and to a flow-measuring devicecapable of accurately indicating the allowable leakage rate. The flow-measuring device is located betweenthe air su

37、pply and the inlet of the piping assembly. A thermocouple shall be firmly attached to one fittingto monitor its temperature.DECEMBER 8, 2017 UL 1365 7UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL12.3 The assembly shall be placed in a prehea

38、ted 1000 F (538 C) test oven. The sample shall bearranged so that the inlet of the piping assembly extends through an opening in the oven wall andconnects to the air supply system.12.4 Air is admitted to the system and maintained at a minimum pressure of 55 psi (379 kPa) throughoutthe test, unless a

39、 leak is indicated by a drop in pressure. In this event the test shall be discontinued.12.5 When the temperature of the fitting reaches 990 F (532 C), the oven shall be adjusted asnecessary so that the fitting temperature is maintained at 990 F to 1010 F (532 C to 543 C) for at least1 hour. During t

40、his period, any leakage indicated by the flow-meter shall not exceed 6.0 ft3per hour whencorrected to standard conditions of 30 in Hg (101.59 kPa) column pressure and 60 F (15.5 C).13 Flame Test13.1 The medical tubing system, without jacket, shall not leak or show evidence of damage after beingsubje

41、cted to the flame test as described below. The External Leakage Test, Section 7, shall be conductedbefore and after having been tested.13.2 One sample of each diameter and at least 12 inches (305 mm) long between couplings is to be usedin this test. A lineal section of 6 inches (152 mm) is to be sus

42、pended horizontally at a vertical distance of3 inches (76.2 mm) above and parallel to a strip pipe gas burner.13.3 The burner is to be constructed of 3/4 inch Schedule 40 iron pipe (Standard for Welded andSeamless Wrought Steel Pipe, ANSI/ASME B36.10M) having a straight line of 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) dr

43、illedports, on 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) centers, located along the top for a distance of 8 inches (203 mm). A gaspressure equal to 1 inch (25.4 mm) water column is to be maintained in the pipe when gas equivalent tonatural gas having approximately 1000 Btu per cubic foot (37.3 MJ/m3) is employed.13.4 The

44、flame resulting from this apparatus is to burn under at least 6 inches (152 mm) of the exposedlength of tube and under one coupling or union at one end. The sample is to be exposed to the flame for5 minutes.13.5 At the end of the flame exposure, the sample is to be cooled to room temperature and is

46、pplied over a distance of 1 inch (25.4 mm) along the length of the pipe at three equally spaced locationsand not leak when subjected to a pressure 3.5 times the maximum operating pressure.14.2 One 18 inch (45.7 cm) sample of each diameter shall be tested. A hydrostatic pressure of 25 psig(172.4 kPa)

47、 shall be maintained within the sample when under test.14.3 With the sample supported uniformly along its length, a load of 1000 pounds (454 kg) shall besuccessively applied by a flat metal surface over a distance of 1 inch (25.4 mm) along the length of thetube at three equally spaced locations.14.4

48、 The load at each location shall be maintained for at least 1 minute.14.5 After the loads are completed the sample shall be subjected to a hydrostatic pressure of 3.5 timesmaximum rated pressure for at least 1 minute.15 Bending Test15.1 The medical tubing system shall withstand the effects of repeat

49、ed cycles of abnormal bending. TheExternal Leakage Test, Section 7, shall be conducted before and after having been tested15.2 One sample of each diameter having a length based on a minimum length over internal diameterratio (L/D) of 24, but shall be at least 2 ft (610 mm) long shall be supported uniformly along its length ason a table.15.3 The sample shall be successively bent to a 90 degree arc having a radius of 60 and 30 percent ofthe minimum radius per manufactures installation instructions. The bending at each of the two radii shallbe repeated 10 times.16
