、HOUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover foam liquid concentrates, proportioning equipment, and dischargingequipment for producing foam intended for fire extinguishment or control. For medium-expansion foam, the expansion ratio is 20:1 to 200:1. For high-expansion foam,

、the expansion ratio is 200:1 toapproximately 1000:1. These requirements are based on the premise that a specific foam liquidconcentrate shall be investigated for use with the intended foam equipment.1.2 Requirements for the design, installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of foam systems fo

、r fireprotection are included in the Standard for Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam, NFPA 11.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this Outline of Investigation shallcomply with the requirements for that component.2.2 A component is not required to comp

、ly with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this Outline of Investigation; orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this Outline of Investigation.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with i

、ts rating established for the intended conditions ofuse.2.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities.Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such as certain temperatures notexceeding specified limits, and shall

、be used only under those specific conditions for which they havebeen recognized.3 Units of Measurement3.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. Values in parentheses are explanatory orapproximate information.MARCH 13, 2018 UL 139 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER R
