6、HOUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These cables are rated 300, or 600v, 60C (140F) or 75C (167F). The insulated-conductor sizesare 30V 22 14 AWG, 150 300V 20 8 AWG, 600V 18 2 AWG and single conductor 300V or 600V18 2 AWG solid or stranded copper.1.2 This outline covers the construction an

7、d performance requirements for sprinkler systems wireintended for direct burial service for satellite solenoid control on golf courses and lawns, terminated toType UF or USE cable.1.3 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those cove

8、red by the requirements in this Outline of Investigation, and that involves a risk of fire,electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component andend-product requirements to maintain the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of thisOut

9、line of Investigation. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systemsconflict with specific requirements or provisions of this Outline of Investigation does not comply with thisOutline of Investigation Revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformanc

13、an those described in 5.1 shall have materials in thicknesses describedin Table 5.1 and with temperature ratings appropriate for the specific construction of the sprinkler systemswire in which they are to be used. The materials shall be evaluated for the requested temperature ratingas described in L

14、ong-Term Aging Section of the Reference Standard for Electric Wires, Cables, andFlexible Cords, UL 1581. Investigation of the electrical, mechanical, and physical characteristics of theseinsulated conductors shall show these conductors to be comparable to the conductors described in 5.1.The investig

The insulated conductors sh

17、all be cabled.The length of lay is not specified. 18、RDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL7 Shields7.1 A shield is not required but is acceptable over an individual insulated conductor, over a pair ofinsulated conductors, over one or several groups of insulated conductors in any group, or over the entirecable assembly. Several shields may be used i

19、n a given cable.7.2 A shield shall be of metal and shall consist of one or more of the following:a) A laminated shield tape of polymeric material and metal(s) with or without a bare metal-coated or uncoated (uncoated not acceptable with an aluminum-faced tape) copper drain wire incontact with the me

20、tal(s) part of the tape. The tape may be applied with the metal(s) side in orout. The size of a drain wire is not specified. A drain wire may be solid or stranded.b) A corrugated or smooth single-metal or bi-metal tape applied longitudinally, helically, orinterlocked with or without a bare metal-coa

21、ted or uncoated (uncoated not acceptable with analuminum tape) copper drain wire in contact with the metal. The tape may be polymer-coatedon one side if there is a drain wire or on both sides if a drain wire is not used. Any inward-facing coating may bond to the insulation but, where the metal tape

22、is applied over more thanone conductor or member, any inward-facing coating shall not bond to the conductors in thecable. The size of a drain wire is not specified. A drain wire may be solid or stranded.Interlocked aluminum tape shall comply with the requirements for a metal covering but, if thecabl

23、e has an overall cable jacket, the strip thickness and width are not specified.c) A serving, wrap, or braid of aluminum wires or metal-coated or uncoated (uncoated notacceptable in contact with aluminum wires) copper wires.8 Jacket8.1 A jacket of LDPE, HDPE, or PVC (Class 43), and of the thicknesses

30、onductors shall not be more than 25.0 milligrams mass per square inch of exposed surfaceor shall not be more than 3.9 milligrams mass per square centimeter of exposed surface, whenspecimens of the insulated conductors are tested as described in UL 1581.f) Cold-Bend Test Conducted on samples of the s

31、ingle conductor and of the complete cablethat have been in a cold chamber for 4 hours at a temperature of -25.0 2.0C (-13.0 3.6F)using the methods described in the Standard for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL83. The complete cable shall be wrapped for 180 degrees around a mandrel whose

32、diameter isfive times the diameter of the finished cable. The single conductor shall be wrapped for sixturns around a mandrel whose diameter is the same as the diameter of the finished singleconductor.g) Crushing Resistance An average of no less than 225 lbf or 1000 N or 102 kgf shall berequired to

33、crush solid 14 AWG Type TW, THW, and THWN wires until contact is establishedbetween the conductor and the earth-grounded flat steel plate or steel rod when ten specimensof the finished wire are subjected to the crushing procedure described in the CrushingResistance Test of UL 1581.DECEMBER 28, 2015

35、n energy of 2 ft-lbf or 2.7 J or 0.277 kgf-m from exposing the conductor to view orcausing the lamp to light when specimens are subjected to the impact procedure described inthe Impact Resistance Test of UL 1581.MARKINGS10 Cable Markings10.1 The cable shall have the information described below shown

36、 on the outer surface of the wire bymeans of indelible ink printing or indent or raised printing. The ink printing shall be investigated fordurability as specified in the Durability of Indelible-Ink Printing test in the Reference Standard for ElectricalWires, Cables, and Flexible Cords, UL 1581. The

37、 sequence is not specified. A marker tape is appropriatein addition to the surface printing. Other information where added, shall not confuse or mislead and shallnot conflict with these requirements. See 12.1 for date marking.a) Manufacturers and Factory Identification The name of the Manufacturer,

38、the Manufacturerstrade name for the product, or both, or any other appropriate distinctive marking by means ofwhich the organization responsible for the product is readily identifiable. Where the organizationthat is responsible for the product is different from the actual manufacturer, both the resp

39、onsibleorganization and the actual manufacturer shall be identified by name or by appropriate codingsuch as by trade name, trademark, the assigned electrical reference number. The meaning ofany coded identification shall be made available by the organization responsible for the cable. Itis appropria

However, where the cable is coiled on a reel ori

42、s in a carton, it is appropriate for the tag to be glued, tied, stapled, or otherwise attached to the reel orcarton instead of to the cable or for the tag to be eliminated and the information printed or stencileddirectly onto the reel or carton. Other information, where added, shall not confuse or m

43、islead and shallnot conflict with these requirements. See 12.1 for date marking.a) Manufacturers and Factory Identification The name of the Manufacturer, the Manufacturerstrade name for the product, or both, or any other appropriate distinctive marking by means ofwhich the organization responsible f
