This Outline of Investigation contains basic requirements for products covered by UnderwritersLaboratories Inc. (UL) under its Follow-Up Service for this category within the limitati

4、ons given below andin the Scope section of this Outline of Investigation. They are subject to revision as further experience andinvestigation may show is necessary or desirable.B. The observance of these requirements by a manufacturer is one of the conditions of the continuedcoverage of the manufact

A product which complies with the text of this Outline of Investigation will not necessarily be judged tocomply with the Outline of Investigation if, when examined and tested, it is found to have other featureswhich impair the level of safety contemplated by these requirements.D. 11、ghting cables for use in accordancewith Articles 520, 525, and 530 and other applicable parts of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA70.SINGLE-CONDUCTOR CABLES2 Construction2.1 Single-conductor cable shall be 8 AWG 250 kcmil in size. The conductor in82AWGcables shallbe of flexible-stranded coppe

12、r using 36 30 AWG strands as specified in UL 62. The conductor in 1 AWG 250 kcmil cables shall be of ASTM Class K or M stranded copper that is, of rope-layconcentric-stranded copper using 30 or 34 AWG strands.2.2 The conductor shall be covered with integral insulation and jacket or with insulation a

13、nd a separable,nonintegral jacket. In each case, the material(s) and thicknesses shall be for 600 volts and a maximumdry temperature rating of 60, 75, 90, or 105C and an optional wet rating of 60 or 75C. The ampacity ofthese cables shall be as assigned for the temperature rating in NEC Table 400.5(B

Cables rated for105C are not intended to carry currents exceeding the values in NEC Table 400.5(B) for 90C.2.3 The average and point thicknesses of nonintegral insulation and jacket shall not be less thanindicated in Table 2.1.Table 2.1Thicknesses of insulation and jacket in single-conductor noni

16、n thetest-program performance of the cable, with emphasis on the crushing, impact, and abrasion tests (thesetests are described in itemsDGof5.1andeach is marked with an asterisk). Thicknesses are basedon performance but, in no case, shall the thicknesses be less than the values indicated in Table 2.

Use of the word Type is optional.c) The AWG or kcmil size of the conductor.d) The temperature rating if higher than 60C. In addition, for 105C cable: Max amps NECTable 400.5(B) for 9

19、0C.e) 600 V or 600 volts.f) Water Resistant, followed by temperature rating, if applicable.g) 50C, 60C,or70C if applicable. 40C is acceptable but not required.h) Oil Resistant 60C or Oil Resistant 75C if applicable.4 Tag Markings4.1 The tag markings shall be surface marking itemsahof3.1plus the foll

21、ed in the applicable table inSection 50 of UL 1581.C) SUNLIGHT RESISTANCE Eighty percent retention per UL 62 after 720 hours ofconditioning per Section 1200 of UL 1581.*D) See 2.4 CRUSHING RESISTANCE WITH CONDUCTOR AT ROOM TEMPERATURE(INTEGRAL CONSTRUCTION ONLY) Method per Section 595 of UL 1581. It

22、 is to take atleast 2500 lbf to crush 2 AWG cable to the point that the buzzer sounds and at least 3500 lbffor 4/0 AWG cable. The results of tests of these two sizes are to be considered representativeof the performance of all sizes.*E) See 2.4 CRUSHING RESISTANCE WITH CONDUCTOR AT RATED TEMPERATURE

23、(INTEGRAL CONSTRUCTION ONLY) Test as in item D but with the conductor carryingcurrent to maintain it at rated temperature during the test and for 60 minutes or more prior tothe test. The temperature of the conductor is to be determined by means of a thermocoupleplaced under the insulation. It is to

24、take at least 450 lbf to crush 2 AWG cable and at least 550lbf to crush 4/0 AWG cable.*F) See 2.4 IMPACT RESISTANCE (INTEGRAL CONSTRUCTION ONLY) Method similar toSection 22 of UL 1277. The weight is to be 10 lbs for 2 AWG cable and 50 lbs for 4/0 AWGcable. The 10-lb weight is to fall from a height o

25、f 4 feet onto each 2 AWG specimen to deliveran impact energy of 40 ft-lbf to the cable. The 50-lb weight is to fall from a height of 1-1/2 feetonto each 4/0 AWG specimen to deliver an impact energy of 75 ft-lbf to the cable. A total of twoor fewer ruptures and/or contacts in ten trials is acceptable

26、 in each case. The results of tests onthese two sizes are to be considered representative of the performance of all sizes. Rupture ofthe insulation is to be considered to have occurred if the conductor is visible. Contact is to beconsidered to have occurred if the weight or rod touches the conductor

27、 as indicated by thelighting of a 3-watt neon lamp connected in series with the conductor, the earth-groundedweight and rod, and a 120-volt a-c supply.*G) See 2.4 ABRASION RESISTANCE (INTEGRAL CONSTRUCTION ONLY) Method asspecified in paragraphs 22.1 22.4 of UL 719 modified to use a 5-pound weight. 33、n6.1 Multiple-conductor cable shall contain27identical insulated conductors that are 8 AWG 250 kcmilin size. The conductors in82AWGcables shall be of flexible-stranded copper using 36 30 AWGstrands as specified in UL 62. The conductors in 1 AWG 250 kcmil cables shall be of ASTM Class K orM stranded

34、copper that is, of rope-lay concentric-stranded copper using 30 or 34 AWG strands.6.2 Each conductor shall be covered with insulation of a material and thicknesses (see Table 6.1) for 600volts and a maximum dry temperature of 60, 75, 90, or 105C and an optional wet rating of 60 or 75C.The overall ja

35、cket shall be of the thicknesses indicated in Table 6.1. The ampacity of these cables shallbe as assigned for the temperature rating in NEC Table 400.5(B).
