15、ope1.1 This outline of investigation covers multi-point interconnection power cable assemblies. They mayconsist of power cable assemblies, male and female power cable fittings, panel-mounted powercable/conductor fittings and feeder-tap power cable fittings used with industrial machinery in accordanc

16、ewith the National Fire Protection Association Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, NFPA 79 thathave system voltages up to and including 1000 V.1.2 These interconnection power cable assemblies may be used in an industrial environment to distributethe power to branch circuits, including moto

17、r branch circuits, of industrial machinery.1.3 Devices covered under this outline of investigation are only intended for indoor use, unless otherwiseidentified.1.4 The power cable assemblies covered under this outline of investigation are rated 1000 V or less, andare intended to be used on industria

18、l machinery in accordance with the National Fire ProtectionAssociation Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, NFPA 79 that have system voltages up to andincluding 600 V. Each power cable assemblies and fittings are rated in volts and amperes. The electricalratings are marked, on each device o

19、r on a flag label affixed to each individual power cable assembly.1.5 The cable assembly fittings and panel-mount fittings are intended to be installed in accordance withthe manufacturers installation instructions. The cable assembly fittings are intended to be assembled ormolded on flexible cord. T

20、he power cable assemblies and mating fittings are not intended to be used asa substitute for the fixed wiring of the building structure. The power cable assemblies and mating fittingsmay be connected to the fixed wiring of the building structure; using a feeder tap fitting or male/femalecable fittin

21、g.1.6 Power cable assemblies and fittings covered under this outline of investigation are not intended tomake or interrupt current under load conditions. These power cable assemblies and fittings have beeninvestigated to their marked short-circuit current rating. Power cable assemblies and fittings

22、may specifya maximum ampere rating, type of overcurrent protective device, or both. Unless otherwise marked, thepower cable assemblies and fittings are intended to be supplied from an overcurrent protective device ofthe maximum ampere rating permitted by the Relationship Between Conductor Size and M

23、aximum Ratingor Setting of Short-Circuit Protective Device for Power Circuits Table, Table 7.2.10.4, of the National FireProtection Association Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, NFPA 79.1.7 This outline of investigation does not cover male-to-male cable assemblies or multi-outlet fitting

24、s.1.8 These devices are intended for use only with the manufacturers same line of products covered underthis outline of investigation.1.9 These devices are not intended for disconnect use only not for current interrupting. Devices may beinvestigated for disconnecting means, if so requested and compl

26、f investigation the following definitions apply.2.2 FEEDER-TAP POWER CABLE FITTINGS Feeder-tap fittings are intended for feed-throughtermination to tray cable or other appropriate cable together with either a female interconnection device toterminate to a cable assembly or to connect to flexible cor

27、d or cable suitable for hard use that is the samesize and ampacity as the feeder cable.2.3 FEED-THROUGH FITTING A male and female device directly connected through the pins orcontacts. This device is not assembled on a flexible cord, cable or AWM.2.4 GROUNDED CONDUCTOR The circuit conductor that is

28、identified and intended for connection tothe grounded circuit.2.5 GROUNDING-CONDUCTOR The circuit conductor that is identified and intended for connection tothe grounding circuit.2.6 GROUNDING-CONDUCTOR PATH A path between the grounding pin or contact and/or terminal tothe grounding conductor.2.7 MA

29、LE AND FEMALE POWER CABLE FITTINGS Fittings intended to be field-wired onto flexiblecord or cable with either a male or female insert. The diameter and the wire size of the flexible cord orcable to which the fitting is intended to be assembled is marked on the individual fitting or on the smallestun

30、it-shipping container.2.8 PANEL-MOUNTED POWER CABLE/CONDUCTOR FITTINGS These fittings consist of apanel-mounted assembly with either a male or female insert. Each assembly is provided with a means tosecure to an enclosure, a panel, of the industrial machinery.2.9 POLARIZED DEVICE A device constructe

31、d for connection to a mating fitting only in the position thatconnects related poles of an electrical circuit.2.10 POWER CABLE ASSEMBLIES Cable assemblies consist of a length of cable or flexible cord witha molded-on or assembled-on male or female power cable fitting on at least one end of the cable

32、.2.11 SPLITTER A male fitting that terminates in two or more female fitting which may or may not becord connected.2.12 SYSTEM VOLTAGE The rated supply or line voltage to which the end product will be connected.2.13 TERMINAL, CRIMP TYPE A terminal in which an electro-mechanical connection is made bet

33、weenthe terminal lug and a conductor by compressing the lug onto the conductors.2.14 TERMINAL, INSULATION-DISPLACEMENT A terminal having a contacting member that forcesthe conductor insulation aside and presses to contact the current-carrying conductor.JANUARY 29, 2018UL 22376UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL

35、connection between one or moreconductors and a terminal plate by means of mechanical pressure without the use of solder. The terminalis one of the following types:a) Clamp-type A terminal in which the conductor is held under a pressure plate or saddleclamp by one or more screws. This type of termina

36、l may be provided in combination with awire-binding screw terminal.b) Setscrew-type A terminal in which the pressure is applied by the end of the screw bearingon the conductor, either directly or through a wire-protecting pad.2.17 TERMINAL, WIRE-BINDING SCREW A terminal in which the conductor is ben

37、t around the screwand is clamped directly under the head of the screw when it is tightened.2.18 UNIT CONTAINER The smallest carton, package, or container, in which a fitting is packaged. Aunit container may contain more than one fitting if the devices are not intended to be removed from thecontainer

38、 for individual sale.3 Components3.1 Except as indicated in 3.2, a component of a product covered by this outline of investigation shallcomply with the requirements for that component. See Appendix A for a list of standards coveringcomponents used in the products covered by this outline of investiga

39、tion.3.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this outline of investigation, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this outline of investigation.3.3 A

46、eneral7.1.1.1 A part that functions as electrical insulation or as an enclosure of a device shall be made ofinsulating material rated for the particular application.7.1.1.2 Vulcanized fiber shall not be used as the sole support of live parts. Vulcanized fiber is acceptablefor insulating washers, sep

47、arators, and barriers. Vulcanized fiber shall comply with Moisture AbsorptionTest, Section 21.7.1.1.3 Tubing used to enclose live parts shall have a flammability rating of VW-1 in accordance with theStandard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94.

48、Thetubing shall be rated for voltage and temperature for the conditions of use.7.1.2 Flammability7.1.2.1 A polymeric material used for electrical insulation or enclosure of live parts shall have aflammability classification of HB, V-2, V-1, V-0, VTM-2, VTM-1, VTM-0, 5VA, or 5VB in accordance withthe

49、 Standard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94.The flame class rating of the material shall be determined at the minimum thickness employed at the wallsand barriers in the device, which are critical to the functioning of the insulation or enclosure of the device.Exception No. 1: This requirement does not apply to a small part:a) With a volume that does not exceed 0.122 in3(2 cm3),b) With no dimension exceeding 1.18 in (3 cm), andc) That is located such that the part does not propag
