10、or protection against short exposures to hotsurfaces, hot liquids, and flames in residential kitchen environments.1.2 The products covered may be either Class 1 or Class 2 where:a) Class 1 products are intended to provide limited protection against flame and heat during thehandling of pots, pans, an

11、d racks in a kitchen environment; andb) Class 2 products are intended to provide limited protection against flame, heat, and hotliquids which may be spilled or splattered during the handling of pots, pans, and racks in akitchen environment.1.3 These requirements do not cover all safety issues associ

12、ated with the use of protective kitchenapparel as personal protective equipment.1.4 These requirements do not intend to address any sanitary or food safety issues which may beencountered with the use of these products.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by th

13、is Outline of Investigation shallcomply with the requirements for that component.2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this outline, orb) Is supersed

14、ed by a requirement in this outline.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions ofuse.2.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities.Such components are intended for use only under limi

19、 Protective Performance (TPP) Test, and shall have an average TPP of not less than 50.0.6.2 Class 1 Oven Mitt composites shall be tested for thermal insulation as specified in Section 12,Conductive Heat Resistance Test, and:a) Shall have a second degree burn time of not less than 10.0 seconds; andb)

20、 Shall have a time to pain of greater than 6.0 seconds.6.3 Class 1 Oven Mitts shall be tested for resistance to heat as specified in Section 13, Heat and ThermalShrinkage Resistance Test, and:a) Shall not melt, separate, drip, crack or ignite; andb) Shall not shrink more than 5 percent in length or

22、r length of greater than 100 mm (4.0 inches);b) Shall not have an after flame time of greater than 2.0 seconds;c) Shall not melt or drip; andd) Shall not have the amount of consumed materials exceed 5 percent.6.5 Class 1 Oven Mitts shall be tested for resistance to shrinkage as specified in Section

23、15, CleaningShrinkage Resistance Test, and shall not shrink more than 5 percent.7 Class 2 Performance Requirements7.1 Class 2 Oven Mitt composites shall be tested for thermal insulation as specified in Section 11,Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) Test, and shall have an average TPP of not less th

28、UL7.6 Class 2 Oven Mitts shall be tested for resistance to water penetration as specified in Section 16,Water Penetration Resistance Test, and:a) Shall not melt, drip, separate or ignite; andb) Shall show no penetration of the test liquid for 60.0 minutes.TEST METHODS8 Room Temperature Conditioning8

29、.1 Samples shall be conditioned at a temperature of 21 3C (70 5F), and a relative humidity of 65 5percent for at least 24 hours.8.2 Testing shall commence within 5 minutes from removal from conditioning.9 Washing and Drying Conditioning9.1 Samples are to be subjected to five cycles of washing and dr

30、ying in accordance with the procedurespecified in Machine Cycle 1, Wash Temperature V, and Drying Procedure Ai of AATCC 135, DimensionalChanges in Automatic Home Laundering of Woven and Knit Fabrics.9.2 A 1.82 0.1 kg (4.0 0.2 lb) load is to be used.9.3 A laundry bag is not to be used.10 Wet Conditio

31、ning10.1 Samples are to be conditioned by complete immersion in water at a temperature of 21 3C (705F), for 2 minutes.10.2 Samples are to be removed from water, hung in a vertical position with glove pouch opening facingdown for 5 minutes, and laid horizontal with textile blotting paper both under a

32、nd over the specimen undera pressure of 0.035 0.003 kg/cm2(0.50 0.05 psi), for a period of 20 minutes.10.3 Blotting paper shall be in accordance with 7.2 of AATCC 70, Test Method for Water Repellency:Tumble Jar Dynamic Absorption Test.10.4 Sample testing is to commence within 5 minutes after removal

34、.1 For mitt body composites, samples for conditioning are to be in the form of a 200 mm 200 mm(8 inches 8 inches) pouch. The pouch is to be made of two glove body composite swatches. The twocomposite swatches are to be 200 mm 200 mm (8 inches 8 inches) and be constructed to simulate theactual layers

35、 of the glove arranged in proper order. Each of the two composite swatches are to be stitchedon all four sides using the same thread as used in the glove construction. The two composite swatchesare then to be sewn together, inner liner to inner liner, on three sides using the same thread as used int

36、he glove construction.11.2.2 After conditioning, the pouch and stitching are to be cut to form 175 mm 175 mm (7 inches 7inches) specimens for testing. Specimens are not to include seams where multiple layers are involved.Specimens are not to be stitched to hold individual layers together during test

37、ing.11.3 Conditioning11.3.1 Three samples are to be tested after conditioning per Section 8, Room Temperature Conditioning.11.3.2 Three samples are to be tested after conditioning per Section 9, Washing and Drying Conditioning,followed by conditioning per Section 8, Room Temperature Conditioning.11.

38、4 Apparatus11.4.1 The test apparatus specified in ISO 17492, Clothing for Protection Against Heat and Flame Determination of Heat Transmission on Exposure to Both Flame and Radiant Heat, is to be used.11.5 Procedure11.5.1 Thermal protective performance testing is to be performed in accordance with I

39、SO 17492, Clothingfor Protection Against Heat and Flame Determination of Heat Transmission on Exposure to Both Flameand Radiant Heat, with the following modifications:a) An exposure heat flux of 84 2 kW/m2, (2.0 0.05 cal/cm2) is to be used.b) The contact configuration is to be used for testing of al

41、RIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL11.6 Report11.6.1 The individual test TPP rating of each sample is to be recorded and reported.11.6.2 The average TPP rating is to be calculated and reported.11.6.3 Where a TPP rating is greater than 60, then the TPP rating is to be recorded and reported as60.11.7

42、Interpretation11.7.1 Pass or fail determinations shall be based on the average reported TPP rating of all samplestested for each precondition.11.7.2 Where an individual result from any test set varies more than 8 percent from the average result,the results from the test set are to be discarded and a

43、nother set of samples are to be tested.12 Conductive Heat Resistance Test12.1 Application12.1.1 This test method applies to Class 1 and Class 2 Oven Mitts.12.2 Samples12.2.1 Samples are to be representative of the glove body composite construction at the palm of thehand, palm side of the fingers, an

44、d at the back of the hand from the finger crotch to 25 mm (1 inch) beyondthe wrist crease and includes the back of the thumb.12.2.2 Samples for conditioning are to be in the form of a 200 mm 200 mm (8 inches 8 inches) pouch.The pouch is to be made of two glove body composite swatches. The two compos

45、ite swatches are to be200 mm 200 mm (8 inches 8 inches) and is to be constructed to simulate the actual layers of the glove,arranged in proper order. Each of the two composite swatches are to be stitched on all four sides usingthe same thread as used in the glove construction. The two composite swat
