22、t of 600 volts or less. These chargersare intended to supply power directly to the vehicle battery for the purposes of diagnostic testing of thebattery pack or to provide a recharge during or after servicing. These chargers are considered for indooruse only and are intended to be installed in accord

23、ance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.1.2 For the purposes of this Outline, the term “electric vehicle”, designated throughout by the initials “EV”,is considered to cover electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and plug-in versions of these vehicles.1.3 As these chargers are not

24、intended for use by the general public, and they are not intended for normalcharging of electric vehicle batteries, they are not considered to fall under the scope of Article 625 of theNational Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.4 These requirements do not cover battery chargers covered by the Standard for

25、Battery Chargers forCharging Engine-Starter Batteries, UL 1236, or the Standard for Industrial Battery Chargers, UL 1564.These requirements do not cover electric vehicle battery chargers covered by the Standard for ElectricVehicle (EV) Charging System Equipment, UL 2202. These requirements do not co

26、ver electric vehiclesupply equipment covered by the Standard for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, UL 2594.2 Glossary2.1 In the text of this Outline, the term “unit” refers to any product covered by this Outline. The letters “EV”refer to an electric vehicle, a hybrid electric vehicle, or plug-in ve

27、rsions of these vehicles in accordancewith 1.2. For the purpose of this Outline, the definitions in 2.2 2.33 apply.2.2 ACCESSIBLE Able to be contacted by an accessibility probe.2.3 BARRIER A part inside an enclosure that reduces access to a part that involves a risk of fire,electric shock, injury to

35、isk of propagation of flame, sparks, andmolten metal initiated by an electrical disturbance occurring within.2.13 EXPOSED Visible and able to be contacted by an accessibility probe.2.14 FIELD-WIRING LEAD Any lead to which a supply, load, or other wire is intended to beconnected by an installer.2.15

36、FIELD-WIRING TERMINAL A terminal to which a supply, load, or other wire is intended to beconnected by an installer.2.16 FIXED UNIT A unit that is intended to be permanently connected electrically.2.17 GUARD A part that reduces access to a component that results in a risk of injury to persons.See Enc

37、losures and Guards, Section 38.2.18 LEAKAGE CURRENT Electric current which flows through a person upon contact, betweenaccessible parts of a unit and:a) Ground, orb) Other accessible parts of the unit.2.19 LIMITED-ENERGY CIRCUIT An ac or dc circuit having a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts andthe en

38、ergy limited to 100 volt-amperes by either a secondary winding of a transformer, one or moreresistors complying with 22.10, or a regulating network complying with 22.11.2.20 LIVE PART A conductive part, such as metal, within the unit that during intended use has apotential difference with respect to

39、 earth ground or any other conductive part.2.21 LOW-VOLTAGE, LIMITED-ENERGY (LVLE) CIRCUIT A circuit involving an alternating currentvoltage of not more than 30 volts, rms (42.4 volts peak) or a direct current voltage of not more than 60volts and supplied by:a) An inherently limited Class 2 transfor

Examples of pressureterminal connectors are barrel and setscrew type, crimp-type barrel, and clamping plate and screw type.2.25 PRIMARY CIRCUIT Wiring and components that are conductively connected to a branchcircuit.2.26 RISK OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY HIGH CURRENT LEVELS

46、The capability for damage toproperty or injury to persons, other than by electric shock, from available electrical energy exists whenbetween a live part and an adjacent dead metal part or between live parts of different polarity, thereexists a potential of 2 volts or more and either an available con

47、tinuous power level of 240 volt-amperesor more, or a reactive energy level of 20 joules or more. For example, a tool, or other metal short-circuiting a component causes a risk of a burn or a fire when enough energy is available at thecomponent to vaporize, melt, or more than warm the metal.2.27 RISK

48、 OF ELECTRIC SHOCK A risk of shock exists at a part of a product under conditionswhere:a) There is current greater than the maximum permitted threshold current for the type ofprotector in a resistance of 500 ohms or more connected between the part in question and thegrounded supply conductor,b) The

49、device does not operate to open the circuit to the 500-ohm resistor within the timeallowed considering the type of current (DC, 60 Hz frequency, and similar types),c) A path to ground is detected on a device used on an ungrounded supply, ord) The grounding path is interrupted.2.28 RISK OF FIRE A risk of fire is determined to exist at any component unless an investigation ofthe supply delivering power to that component complies with the criteria in 22.4 22.12.2.29 SAFETY CIRCUIT Any primary or secondary ci
