6、 parallel or round multiple-conductor wires and cables utilizing copper-clad aluminum(CCA) conductors. Wires and cables are rated either 0.5mA/15W maximum or 30V/15W maximum. Themaximum temperature rating of the wire or cable shall not exceed 80C (176F). The wires and cablesare suitable for installa

13、e-conductor insulated CCA conductor(s) without a jacket,or one or more insulated CCA conductors cabled or laid together under an overall nonintegral or integraljacket. The cable may contain any number of coverings, fillers, binders, and/or shields under the jacket.6 Conductors6.1 Conductors shall be
14、 CCA and shall conform to the tensile strength and elongation, resistivity andcopper thickness as indicated in the Standard Specification for Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire, ASTM B566.The conductor size shall be between 36 AWG and 13 AWG inclusive. The annealed conductors shallcontain nominal 10 or 15 pe
15、rcent copper by volume.7 Insulation7.1 The insulation shall be thermoplastic or thermoset.8 Overall Jacket8.1 The overall jacket shall be thermoplastic or thermoset.MARKING9 On the Cable9.1 The surface marking on the insulated conductors shall consist of a series of dots and dashes asshown below con

The copper thickness shall be measured in accordancewith, and meet the requirements of ASTM B566 for Class 10A and Class 15A.11.1.2 The average thickness and the minimum thi
23、ckness at any point of the insulation and jacket (ifpresent) shall be measured in accordance with the Thickness test in UL 2556.11.1.3 The resistivity of the conductor shall meet the requirements shown in the Standard Specificationfor Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire, ASTM B566 when tested in accordance wi
24、th the Standard Test Methodfor Resistivity of Electrical Conductor Materials, ASTM B193.11.2 Physical properties11.2.1 The tensile strength and elongation of the conductor material shall be tested in accordance withand meet the requirements of the test Tensile strength and Elongation as described in
25、 StandardSpecification for Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire, ASTM B566. The test speed shall be 12 in/min (300mm/min).11.2.2 Tensile and elongation of the insulation and jacket (if present) shall be measured in accordancewith the test, Physical Properties (ultimate elongation and tensile strength) as descr
26、ibed in UL 2556. Theunaged tensile strength shall be at least 500 psi. The unaged elongation shall be at least 100 percent.After aging in accordance with Table 11.1, the aged tensile strength shall be at least 50 percent of theunaged value with no value shall be less than 500 psi. The aged elongatio

28、ION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL11.3 Dielectric withstand and breakdown11.3.1 The finished individual insulated conductors of a multi-conductor cable and completed singleconductors shall be capable of withstanding for 60 seconds, without breakdown, the application of analternating (rms) voltage of 500
29、 V between each insulated conductor and water in accordance with the testDielectric Voltage-Withstand Method 1 in UL 2556. After 1 minute of dielectric withstand, the voltage shallbe increased at a rate not to exceed 500V/sec until breakdown occurs.11.3.2 The test is to be repeated on specimens that
30、 have been subjected to the aging time andtemperature indicated in Table 11.1. The specimens shall be capable of withstanding for 60 seconds,without breakdown, the application of an alternating (rms) voltage of 500 V between each insulatedconductor and water. The dielectric breakdown voltage after a
31、ging shall be at least 50 percent of theunaged value.11.4 Horizontal flame test (optional)11.4.1 The finished wire or cable shall be tested with, and meet the requirements of the HorizontalSpecimen Appliance Wire Flame Test as described in UL 1581.11.5 FT2 flame test (optional)11.5.1 The length of t
32、he charred portion of the specimen of the finished cable shall not exceed 3.9 inches(100 mm), nor shall flaming particles ignite cotton. Compliance shall be determined when tested inaccordance with the test, FT2/FH/Horizontal flame, in UL 2556. In parallel constructions, the majordiameter shall be i
33、n the vertical plane for testing.11.6 FT1 flame test (optional)11.6.1 Finished cables shall not convey flame, continue to burn for more than 60 seconds after five 15second applications of a standard test flame. Compliance shall be determined in accordance with the test,FT1, in UL 2556. A specimen sh
34、all be considered to have conveyed flame if more than 25 percent of theextended portion of the indicator is burned. In parallel construction, the major diameter shall face theburner.11.7 Cable flame test (optional)11.7.1 The finished wire or cable shall be tested with, and meet the requirements of t

37、ameter shall facethe burner.11.9 Durability of ink-print test11.9.1 Printing on the surface of the wire shall remain legible after being subjected to the test Durabilityof ink printing as described in UL 2556. One specimen shall be conditioned at a temperature of 60 2C(140 3F) for a period of 168 ho

The second specimen shall be maintained at a temperature of 2510C (77 3F) for a minimum of 24 hours.MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION LINE TESTS12 Spark Test12.1 The Spark Test shall be performed by the manufacturer on 100 percent of the individual insulatedintended for incorporation in completed ca
39、bles, and on completed single conductor cables.
