Where a particular subclause ofUL 62841-1 is not mentioned in UL 62841-3-1000, the UL 62841-1 subclause applies.1 ScopeThis clause of Part 1 is applicable, except as follows:Addition:This part of UL 62841 applies to transportable CO2laser engravers with a l

11、aser power not exceeding 60watts intended to cut, incise a design, engrave, ablate, burn, color, and perform similar processes onmaterial samples inserted into the equipment.This standard does not apply to fiber laser engravers and laser engravers intended for industrial use.2 Normative referencesTh

18、cept as follows:8.2 Addition:Laser engravers shall be marked with safety information which shall be written in one of the officiallanguages of the country in which the laser engraver is to be sold or marked with the appropriate symbol.For all laser engravers: WARNING Fire hazard. Never operate the l

19、aser system unattended. Combustiblematerials exposed to the laser beam may ignite. 21、strations and specifications provided withthis laser engraver. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/orserious injury.Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.1) Work area safetya) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark ar

22、eas invite accidents.b) Do not operate laser engraver in explosive atmospheres, such as in thepresence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Laser beam may ignite the dust orfumes.c) Set up and operate the laser engraver in a well-ventilated area. Place laserengraver on flat nonflammable surface and

23、away from flammable material.Provide at least 8 inches of unobstructed spacing around laser engraver to allowventilation. Laser engravers may create fumes that irritate eyes and airways.Obstructing airflow into or out of laser engraver may result in serious personal injury.d) Always use a properly c

24、onfigured, installed, maintained, and operating fume/smoke exhaust system as recommended by the manufacturer when operating thelaser engraver. Caustic fumes and smoke from the cutting and engraving process mustbe extracted from the laser system and exhausted outside or properly filtered to reducethe

25、 risk of personal injury.e) Always keep a properly maintained and inspected fire extinguisher in the area.Typically, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) chemical fire extinguishers should be used.f) Laser engravers must be operated only by persons familiar with their operationand manufacturers instructions. Operat

26、ion of laser cutters by persons unfamiliar withtheir operation and manufacturers instructions can result in electric shock, fire and/orserious injury.g) Do not allow unsupervised children and bystanders to interact with the laserengraver while it is operating. Persons unfamiliar with the operation o

27、f the laserengraver may change its setup, which may increase the risk of electric shock, fireand/or serious injury.2) Electrical safetya) Laser engraver plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in anyway. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) laser engravers.Unmodified plugs

29、iators, ranges and refrigerators. There is anincreased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.c) Do not expose laser engravers to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a laserengraver may increase the risk of electric shock.d) Before every operation of a water-cooled laser engra

30、ver, make sure that thecoolant connections and laser tube are leak-free. Water leaks may increase the riskof electric shock.e) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unpluggingthe laser engraver. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.Damaged or entang

31、led cords increase the risk of electric shock.f) Do not operate laser engravers in damp locations. Use of laser engravers indamp locations may increase the risk of electric shock.3) Personal safetya) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating alaser engraver. Do not use

32、 laser engraver while you are tired or under theinfluence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operatinglaser engravers may result in serious personal injury.b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection appropriatefor class of laser engraver. Protective

33、equipment such as heat and cut resistantgloves used when work pieces are hot or have sharp edges will reduce personalinjuries.c) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothingand gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can becaught in movin

34、g parts.d) Be careful removing work pieces from the laser cutter. Cutting with a laserincreases the temperature of the work piece and the temperature of the workpiece may remain high after laser cutter stops operating. Touching hot work piecesbefore they cool down may result in burns.e) Do not let f

35、amiliarity gained from frequent use of laser engravers allow you tobecome complacent and ignore laser engraver safety principles. A careless actioncan cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.4) Laser engraver use and carea) Prevent idle laser engraver from being used by children and do not

36、 allowpersons unfamiliar with the laser engraver or these instructions to operate thelaser engraver. Laser engravers can be dangerous in the hands of untrained users.b) Maintain laser engravers. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,breakage of parts, coolant leaks and any other conditio

37、n that may affect the laserengravers operation. If damaged, have the laser engraver repaired before use. 38、BUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULc) Use the laser engraver in accordance with these instructions, taking intoaccount the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the laserengraver for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardoussituation.5) Servicea) Have your

39、laser engraver serviced by a qualified repair person using onlyidentical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the laser engraver ismaintained.8.14.1 Addition:The additional safety instructions as specified in Clause 8.14.1.101 shall be given. This part may beprinted separately from

40、 the General Power Tool Safety Warnings.8.14.1.101 Safety instructions for laser engraversLaser engraver safety warnings:a) WARNING: Never expose yourself to the laser beam since it may cause physicalburns and can cause severe eye damage. Proper use and care of this laser engraver systemare essentia

41、l to safe operation.b) Never operate the laser engraver system without constant supervision of the cuttingand engraving process. Exposure to the laser beam may cause ignition of combustiblematerials and start a fire.c) Never use PVC or other nonconductive duct materials for the exhaust system. Stati

42、ccharges may build up and may cause a risk of fire or explosion.d) Always use fire rated rigid or flexible metal or metalized ducting in the exhaustsystem. Non-fire rated exhaust ducting may increase the risk of fire.e) Always inspect the exhaust fan and duct work for obstructions and ensure proper

43、airflow exists before each use. Unobstructed and properly maintained exhaust fan and duct workwill reduce the risk of fire and effectively extract caustic fumes and smoke.f) Never engrave or cut any unknown material. Only engrave materials recommended bythe manufacturer. The vaporization/melting of

44、many materials, including but not limitedto PVC and polycarbonates, can give off hazardous fumes. Always refer to the Safety DataSheet (SDS) from the material manufacturer to determine the response of any work material toextreme heat (burning/fire hazard) to prevent hazards.g) Always use the air ass

45、ist as recommended by the manufacturer, especially whilecutting. Cutting movements are relatively slow and apply an extremely large amount ofheat to the work piece. Avoid the build-up of heat in order to reduce the risk of fire.h) Keep the interior of the laser cutter, including the table tray, clea

46、n and free of debris.Clean the laser. A build-up of cutting and engraving residue and debris is dangerous and mayincrease the risk of fire.i) Never look into the beam of the alignment laser. 47、CTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULj) Never operate the alignment laser without the focus lens or other optical elements oflaser engraver in place. The unfocused beam may be reflected out of the chassis andincrease the risk of eye injury.k) Do not operate the laser machine with any of th

48、e panels removed. Remember that thelaser beam is invisible! Exposure of the laser beam will greatly increase the risk of injuryand/or fire.l) Before using the laser machine, test the residual current device (RCD) provided withthe supply cord to insure it is operating correctly. A properly operating

49、RCD reduces therisk of electrical shock.NOTE 101 It is possible to replace the term residual current device (RCD) with the term ground fault circuitinterrupter (GFCI) or earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB).NOTE 102 The above warning is omitted for lasers that are not cooled with water.m) Do not attempt to modify or defeat the safety interlock system for any reason. Thiscould result in exposure to hazardous laser radiation.n) Do not use laser engraver with extension cords. The RCD on the machine power cordwill not prevent electrical shock from th
