3、 for Ultraviolet Lamps Used for Reduction of Grease LadenVapors from Cooking Equipment) and Scope changed to better align withNFPA 96; b) Glossary is expanded for clarity; c) 7.2 allows other materialthan metal and to evaluate the suitability of the barrier by test; d) 7.3allows filters and other UV

4、 attenuation barriers to be evaluated by test; e)7.4 requires UV attenuation barriers also serving as filters to comply withUL 1046 or UL 710 as appropriate for the filter; f) 7.5 requires thatattenuation barriers with adjustable features to be adjusted to the worstcase position for test; g) 7.12 al

14、ooking equipment when installed within Listed Exhaust Hoods forCommercial Cooking Equipment.1.1 effective March 22, 20091.2 These requirements are not intended to address the effectiveness of the UV radiation to reducegrease-laden vapors from cooking operations.1.2 effective March 22, 20091.3 This O

15、utline applies to UV lamp assemblies for use in locations that are intended for installation onbranch circuits of 600 V nominal or less between conductors in accordance with the National ElectricalCode (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70.1.3 effective March 22, 20092 General2.1 Exhaust hoods provided with UV lamp a

34、 Assembly7.1 Exhaust hoods provided with an ultraviolet (UV) radiation source shall be provided with an UVattenuation barrier in accordance with 7.2 7.5.7.1 effective March 22, 20097.2 A UV attenuation barrier shall be constructed of metal or other materials found to be UVA, UVBand/or UVC resistant

35、(as appropriate for the radiation source) and comply with the performance tests ofthe Standard for Exhaust Hoods for Commercial Cooking Equipment, UL 710. There shall be no visibledegradation to the material when subjected to the Abnormal Flare-up or Fan Failure tests as specified inUL 710.7.2 effec

36、tive March 22, 20097.3 An attenuation barrier comprised of a removable filter, pre-filter or secondary filter or any combinationshall be provided with an interlock that de-energizes the UV lamp power source when any portion of thefilter assembly is removed or omitted. The filter assembly shall be ma

37、rked as shown in 17.5.7.3 effective March 22, 20097.4 A filter assembly also serving as an attenuation barrier shall comply with UL 1046 for filter assembliesor all the fire performance tests of UL 710 if of the priority integral slot baffle type.7.4 effective March 22, 20097.5 An attenuation barrie

38、r that has any adjustable components shall be adjusted to allow the maximumUV radiation to be emitted past the barrier7.5 effective March 22, 20097.6 A removable UV attenuation barrier shall be provided with an interlock device in accordance with 7.7.7.6 effective March 22, 20097.7 Access panels and

39、 components, removable or operable for normal operation, cleaning and servicingin exhaust hoods provided with UV lamps shall be provided with an interlock device in accordance with7.8 when the following applies:a) The removal, displacement or operation of such panel or component shall comply with th

40、eUltraviolet (UV) Irradiance Test, Section 12 in any position of adjustment.7.7 effective March 22, 20097.8 An interlock device shall de-energize the UV lamp power source whenever the UV attenuator, accesspanel, or component is removed or displaced. Compliance is determined by:a) The power being rem

42、DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL7.9 The actuator of an interlock device shall be located so that unintentional operation does not occur.See 7.11 7.13.7.9 effective March 22, 20097.10 The interlock device shall be located or guarded so that it cannot be defeated or bypassed bymoving a 2-inch d

43、iameter sphere at any angle to the device actuator.7.10 effective March 22, 20097.11 Operation of an interlock in normal use shall not inconvenience the operator so as to encouragedeliberate defeat of an interlock.7.11 effective March 22, 20097.12 The actuator of an interlock shall be positioned so

44、that it is unlikely that food or cooking materialswill accumulate and defeat the actuator or interlock in normal use. Consideration shall be given toaccessibility for manual cleaning or self-cleaning of the actuator.7.12 effective March 22, 20097.13 A pressure actuated interlock device shall de-ener

45、gize the UV lamp power source whenever thepressure port or ports are plugged. A pressure interlock system shall comply with Section 16, Test forPressure Interlock Devices.7.13 effective March 22, 20097.14 An interlock system shall comply with Section 15, Endurance Test for Interlock Devices.Exceptio
