24、by their mechanical equipment. This influ-ences the performance of rooms in terms of adequacy to purpose, economic efficiency and sustainability, and thus also in terms of the productivity of room us-ers. The functionality of the mechanical equipment of rooms is provided by room control. Room contro
25、l therefore is central to the planning and utilisation of buildings. Guideline VDI 3813 Part 1 has been the first to de-scribe the issue of room control and to specify the fundamental terminology. However, it has so far left aside the methodology for specifying room control functions in the planning
26、 context in an unambiguous and generally accepted manner so as to provide clear requirements for the calculation, execution and ac-ceptance of room control solutions. This methodol-ogy is now presented in this Part 2. It specifies room control (RA) functions across all trades as the basis for harmon

The technological implementation can be carried out according to eco-nomic and technical criteria, depending on the project requirements and the state of the art. In particular, this concerns the communication between room control and the respective plant automation required for media supply, a joint concept for higher-level operator control and display, and the integration
