4、uction et de surveillance en exploitation des matriels des chaudires lectro-nuclaires - AFCEN (French society for design, construction and in-service inspection rules for nuclear island components). The purpose of AFCEN is, in particular to: - draw up detailed and practical rules for the design, man
5、ufacture, installation, commissioning, and in-service inspection of components for nuclear islands used for power generating stations; - revise such rules on the basis of experience, technological advances and changes in technology; - publish such rules or revisions thereto. The French design and co
6、nstruction rules for mechanical components of PWR nuclear Islands (RCC-M) published in Code form by AFCEN primarily apply to safety class components. This Code is used as a basis for contractual relations between Client and Supplier, in which case it shall be accompanied by a list of components to w
7、hich the RCC-M applies. The rules given in the RCC-M draw on the achievements of development work undertaken in France and world-wide having resulted in French industrial practice. The rules for fabrication and examination given in the RCC-M are a description of current practice in the French nuclea
8、r industry based on its own nuclear and industrial experience. 9、of the RCC-M issued by AFCEN. It incorporates all the modifications and additions to the previous edition (1993) contained in the five addenda published successively in June 1994, June 1995, June 1996, June 1997 and June 2000. The revision results from 160 modification sheets (Nos. 731 to 890 inclus
10、ive) covering, in particular: ? the need to reduce costs by simplifying and standardising the requirements in line with current non-nuclear industrial practice while maintaining the high safety standards necessary for the type of components dealt with in the present code, ? the need to take into acc
11、ount improvements in industrial practice and to make the requisite additions regarding advances in technology, particularly in the fields of analysis (e.g. plasticity corrections), procurement and implementation (pre- and post-heating temperatures, automatic liquid penetrant testing, characterisatio
12、n of indications detected ultrasonically, etc.), ? the inclusion of revisions, additions and recommendations resulting from feedback from plant operation, in particular regarding design precautions (fatigue prevention, for example), procurement (residual element limits for chemical composition of ma
13、terials, use of Alloy 690 and related filler materials), and implementation (scope of surface inspections and conditions), ? the need to keep pace with changes to statutory rules and to standards, with ever-increasing reference to International and European standards, especially regarding materials,
14、 analysis methods, welder qualifications and welding processes, non-destructive examinations and certification of inspectors, ? changes included with the purpose of eliminating potential sources of misinterpretation. The authors have also set out to clarify the procurement equivalence conditions bet
15、ween different editions of the code. To this end, a new table A 1500 has been included, specifying these conditions for each addendum and modification sheet issued since the 1988 edition of the code up till the present time. This new edition will be subject to periodic updating in the same way as th
