It establishes standards covering material,manufacture, mechanical and chemical properties, coating, testmethods, inspection, certification, product markings,dimensions, and dimensional tolerances for closet fla
4、nges.These closet flanges are not intended for pressure applications,as the selection of the proper size for sanitary drain, waste,vent, and storm drain systems allows free air space for gravitydrainage1.2 The EDP/ASA numbers indicated in this section repre-sent a Uniform Industry Code adopted by th
5、eAmerican SupplyAssociation (ASA). A group designation prefix, 022, is as-signed to hubless products followed by the four-digit identifi-cation assigned to individual items and a check digit. Thissystem has been instituted to facilitate EDP control throughdistribution channels, and is to be used uni
6、versally in orderingand specifying product items. Those items with no EDPnumbers are either new, special, or transitory and will beassigned numbers on subsequent prints of this specification.1.3 This specification covers closet flanges of the followingpatterns (7.1.1) and, when so designated, shall

Materials and Manufacture4.1 The closet flanges shall be iron castings suitable forinstallation and service for sanitary drain, waste, and ventpiping applications. The closet flanges shall meet all applicablerequirements and tests
18、given in this specification.4.2 The castings shall be made of cast iron produced by anestablished commercial method that provides control overchemical and physical properties. Cast iron is a generic termfor a series of alloys as defined in Terminology A644, andincludes gray iron as well as ductile i
19、ron. The castings shall besound, true to pattern, and of compact close grain that permitsdrilling and cutting by ordinary methods. The interior surfaceshall be reasonably smooth and free from defects that wouldmake the castings unfit for the use for which they are intended.4.3 To minimize the possib
20、ility of introducing radioactivematerial to a melting operation, ferrous scrap, pig iron, and anyrecycled ferrous material shall be screened by the manufacturerfor radioactivity with detection devices operated in accordancewith the detection manufacturers instructions. Writtenoperating, calibration,
21、 and maintenance procedures for thedetection equipment shall be provided to the purchaser forreview when requested. Records shall be maintained by load ofthese tests for a period of seven years.4.3.1 Only radiation devices designed specifically for thepurpose of screening ferrous material shipments
22、shall be usedfor the purpose of conforming to this requirement. Handheldradiation detectors (Geiger counters) are not appropriate andshall not be used for the purpose of conforming to thisrequirement.4.3.2 Material that is found contaminated with radioactivityshall not be used to produce products co
23、vered by this specifi-cation.4.3.3 Analysis of castings after the time of production shallnot be used to determine compliance to this specification.4.4 Foundries manufacturing products to this specificationshall comply to all local, provincial, state, and national safetylaws and regulations and to t
24、he requirements of PracticeE2349.4.5 Closet flanges shall not be patched, filled, or welded tocorrect cosmetic or material defects that occur during thecourse of manufacturing.5. Mechanical Properties5.1 Mechanical Tests for Gray IronThe manufacturershall perform tests to determine mechanical proper
25、ties of thegray iron used in the manufacture of gray iron soil pipe andfittings. Tension test specimens shall be employed, in accor-dance with details in 10.1.1. The manufacturer shall maintain arecord of mechanical tests for a minimum of seven years.5.1.1 Tensile Strength TestThe tensile strength s
26、hall be notless than 21 000 psi (145 MPa).5.1.2 Tension test reports shall include breaking load of testbars, machined diameter of test bar, and calculated tensilestrength.5.1.3 Analysis of castings or test bars after the time ofproduction shall not be used as evidence of compliance to thisspecifica
27、tion.6. Chemical Tests for Gray Iron6.1 The manufacturer shall perform tests to determine thesignificant chemical constituents of the gray iron used in themanufacture of gray iron soil pipe and fittings and closetflanges. Analysis shall be performed at the minimum of onceper lot as defined in this s
28、pecification. The manufacturer shallmaintain a record of chemical tests performed for a minimumof seven years. The test results shall conform to the followingrequirements as to chemical composition:Phosphorous (P) 0.38 % maximumSulfur (S) 0.15 % maximumChromium (Cr) 0.50 % maximumTitanium (Ti) 0.10
29、% maximumAluminum (Al) 0.50 % maximumLead (Pb) 0.015 % maximumCarbon Equivalent 4.10 % minimum by massNote: Carbon equivalent for gray iron = %C+%Si/3+%P/36.1.1 Chemical tests shall be performed at the time ofproduction of the castings covered by this specification.6.1.2 Analysis of castings after t

Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 Closet Flanges:7.1.1 Dimensions of Closet FlangesAll closet flangesshall conform to the dimensions specified in Fig. 1.7.2 Hubless Closet Flange RiserFor information on
31、hub-less closet flange risers, refer to Fig. 57 of Specification A888.8. Coating8.1 The closet flanges shall be uniformly coated with amaterial suitable for the purpose that is adherent and not brittle.The coating shall be applied in accordance with the coatingmanufacturers requirements. External to
32、uch marks frompoints of contact during the coating process are permitted. Thecoating shall not contain asbestos above current MSDS report-able levels. Safety data sheets shall be furnished by the coatingmanufacturer when requested. The coating shall be evenly andsmoothly applied to all surfaces, exc
33、ept in threaded openings,unless the coating is specifically designed for threaded open-ings.8.2 Closet flanges coatings shall not contain lead whichexceeds levels above 0.06 % (600 ppm).8.2.1 The manufacturer shall annually prepare and submitsamples to a qualified laboratory for test in accordance w
34、ithPractice E1645. The manufacturer shall prepare and submitsamples when changing sources of supply or the coatingmanufacturer changes formulations for the coating.8.3 Closet flanges coatings shall not contain levels ofvolatile organic hazardous air pollutants (VOHAPs) whichexceed levels of 2.6 lb o
35、f VOHAPs per gallon 0.31 kg perliter of solids in accordance with Practice D3960.A1111 1828.3.1 The manufacturer shall annually certify that the coat-ing meets the VOHAP requirement. It is permissible for thecoating manufacturer to provide the certification.8.4 Records shall be maintained for a peri
36、od of seven years.8.5 Copies of the coating test shall be furnished whenrequested.9. Sampling9.1 Chemical and mechanical tests shall be made regularlyand at sufficiently close intervals for adequate determinationsof the significant chemical constituents and properties of thecast iron. A specimen tak
37、en from a finished product often doesnot produce the same results as a specimen formed by themethod used for sample preparation and is not acceptable forthe purpose of testing to this standard. Records of chemicalanalysis shall be maintained by the manufacturer by lot. Copiesof these analyses shall
38、be furnished to the purchaser whenrequested.9.2 A lot shall consist of one of the following:9.2.1 All the metal poured from a single heating in abatch-type furnace.9.2.2 All the metal from two or more batch-type meltingfurnaces poured into a single ladle or a single casting.9.2.3 All the metal poure
39、d from a continuous meltingfurnace for a given period of time between changes in charge,processing conditions, aim-for chemistry, or 4 h (hours),whichever is the shorter period.10. Test Methods10.1 Gray Iron:10.1.1 Tensile Strength TestTest bars shall be cast inaccordance with the requirements of Sp

44、8311. Inspection11.1 Inspection and Test by the ManufacturerClosetflanges shall be inspected to verify compliance with thisspecification. The manufacturer shall maintain a record of allinspections.11.2 Closet Flange InspectionAt regular intervals (not toexceed 12 h) during the course of production,
45、sample pieces ofeach size and configuration of closet flange being producedshall be selected randomly for inspection. Each closet flangeselected shall be measured by suitable gages to verify that thelength and all applicable dimensions detailed in Fig. 1 complywith the requirements of this specifica
46、tion. The inspectionrecords shall be maintained by the manufacturer for a period ofseven years.11.3 Marking InspectionInspection shall include verifica-tion that the markings on pipe and fittings comply with Section13 of this specification.12. Certification12.1 Upon request, the purchaser, design pr
47、ofessional, orthe administrative authority having jurisdiction where theproducts are being installed shall be furnished certification bythe manufacturer stating samples representing each lot havebeen tested and inspected as indicated in this specification andthe requirements have been met. If reques
48、ted by the purchaser,design professional, or the administrative authority havingjurisdiction where the products are being installed, certificationshall be accompanied by test reports as prepared in accordancewith Sections 10 and 11 of this specification. Tension testreports shall include breaking lo
49、ad, machined diameters of testbars, and calculated tensile strength. Certification shall includethe legal name and address of the manufacturer.12.2 Third-party certifiers or inspectors shall utilize theprocedures detailed in Annex A1 when conducting inspectionsat the manufacturing locations.13. Product Marking13.1 Each closet flange shall be plainly marked with thecountry of origin, the manufacturers name, or registeredtrademark by which the manufacturer can be readily identifiedafter installation.
