Scope1.1 These test methods cover test procedures forprefabricated, reinforced, self-adhesive (SA) polymer-modifiedbituminous shee

3、t materials designed for single- or multiple-plyapplication in roofing and waterproofing membranes.1.2 These test methods specifically address the self-adhesive characteristics of modified bituminous sheetmaterials, and are intended as a supplement to those found inTest Methods D5147/D5147M.1.3 The

4、values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, toensure conformance with the standard, each system shall beused independently of the other, and values from the twosystems

5、 shall not be combined.1.4 This standard may involve hazardous materials,operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport toaddress all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with itsuse. 9、ry Study toDetermine the Precision of a Test Method3. Significance and Use3.1 These test methods are used to evaluate the properties ofself-adhesive modified bituminous membranes. The resultsdetermine compliance with the applicable specifications, orthey can be used for comparative analysis.3.2 The

10、test methods apply to “as manufactured” materialand may not apply to material that has been weathered or ispast the manufacturers recommended shelf life.4. Sampling4.1 From each shipment or fraction thereof, select at randoma number of rolls equal to one half the cube root of the totalnumber rolls o

11、f the lot. If the calculated number is fractional,express it as the next highest whole number. For convenience,a table showing the number of rolls to be selected from the lotsof various sizes is given in Test Method D146/D146M.4.2 The minimum sample shall consist of five rolls. Therolls so selected

12、constitute the representative sample used forall subsequent observations and tests pertaining to the lot ofmaterial being tested.4.3 When mutually agreed upon by the concerned parties,other sampling frequencies may be used and reported withinthe framework of these procedures.5. Adhesion to Plywood5.

13、1 ScopeThis test method covers the determination of theadhesive properties of the product sheets to a standardizedplywood substrate, as set forth in Test Method D3167 except asnoted below. The method also allows for the evaluation of amembrane installation over the standardized substrate treatedwith

14、 a primer.5.2 ConditioningTesting and conditioning is to be per-formed at test temperatures 23 6 2C 73 6 4F and 4 6 1C1These test methods are under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D08 onRoofing and Waterproofing and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D08.04on Felts, Fabrics and Bitumino

The plywood must beconditioned at test temperatures for at least seven days prior t

18、oassembly. All other materials used to construct the assemblyshould be conditioned for at least 1.5 h 6 0.5 h prior to testing.Similarly, the test assembly (self-adhesive sheet adhered toplywood), the deadweight roller, and the primer (if used), mustbe conditioned at the test temperature for at leas

19、t 1.5 h 6 0.5h prior to testing.5.3 Specimen Preparation:5.3.1 The test specimen shall consist of one piece ofself-adhesive sheet, 75 by 200 6 3mm3by8618 in.,overlapped and bonded 75 by 100 6 3mm3by4618 in.to the top surface of a piece of plywood that is 100 by 200 63mm4by8618 in. Primer is optional

20、 and may be appliedto the substrate per manufacturer specification, appropriate forspecimen preparation temperatures. The grain direction of theplywood shall run the 200 6 3mm8618 in. length for thetest assembly. The overlap shall be such that the last 4 in. ofplywood (a strip 100 by 100 6 3mm4by461

21、8 in.) isexposed, and 100 6 3mm4618 in. of the self-adhesivesheet is available for gripping in the test machine (Fig. 1). Theplywood shall be 6 mm 14 in. minimum thickness, virola,birch, or equivalent smooth surfaced, veneered plywood. Testsurface shall be free of knots, repairs, or other similar im

22、per-fections.5.3.2 At no time shall the roller stop travel on the area to betested. Spacers should be used to allow the roller to travel offof the sample before it is returned. Uniformly press theself-adhesive sheet onto plywood by rolling three times backand forth on the aligned specimens in the di

23、rection of theplywood grain with a roller of a mass of 12 6 1kg266 2 lb,a diameter of 125 6 3mm5618 in., and a width of 125 63mm5618 in. Do not allow for any additional pressure tobe applied onto the self-adhesive sheets. The deadweight rollershould be rolled at a rate of 4 to 6 s per back and forth

24、 cycle.The test specimen shall be completely taut with no slack in theself-adhesive sheet.5.3.3 At least five specimens shall be tested for each testtemperature.5.3.4 The specimens shall be assembled individually. Cut-ting specimens to size after assembly may influence the testresults.NOTE 1Adhesion

25、 to other potential deck materials and substrates mayalso be determined by this test method.5.4 Apparatus:5.4.1 Perform the test in a constant rate of extension typetest machine.5.4.2 The rate of travel of the crosshead shall be 50 6 3mm/min 2 618 in./min. 26、Self-Adhesive Sample PreparationD7694/D7694M 182separation rate of 50 6 3 mm/min 2 618 in./min, shall beuniform throughout the test.5.5 Procedure:5.5.1 Conduct the test after the test assembly has beenconditioned at the test temperature for 1.5 h 6 0.5 h.5.5.2 Separate the free end of the sheet from

27、 the plywoodfor a distance of 100 6 3mm4618 in. leaving 100 6 3mm4 618 in. of bonded length. Maintain the specimen in theapproximate plane of the clamps during the test. Peel the wholebonded area, ensuring that proper peel behavior is taking placebefore and after the middle 50 6 3mm2618 in. of appli

28、edsample.5.6 CalculationDetermine the average peel strength be-tween the sample travel of 25.4 to 76.2 mm 1 to 3 in. as theaverage load line that accommodates the recorded curve.Record the load so indicated, corrected for initial off-zerostarting point caused by weight of the test assembly. (See Fig

29、.4.)5.7 ReportingFor each series of tests, report the number ofmeasurements, the test temperature, the average peel strengthand standard deviation between the sample travel of 25.4 to76.2 mm 1 to 3 in. in N/25 mm of width lbf/in. of width, andthe failure mode. If primer is utilized, the type of prim

30、er,product name, and quantity (volume/unit area) applied shall beclearly reported.5.8 Precision and Bias:5.8.1 The precision of this test method is based on anintralaboratory study of ASTM Work Item WK26070 Stan-dard Test Method for Testing Self-Adhesive Modified Bitumi-nous Sheet Material, conducte

31、d in 2015. Two laboratoriesparticipated in this study, testing various sheet materials overtwo different bases. Every “test result” represents an individualdetermination. The laboratories were asked to report fourreplicate test results for each base/sheet/temperature combina-tion. Except for the ext

32、remely limited laboratory participation,Practice E691 was followed for the design and analysis of thedata; the details are given in ASTM Resaerch Report No.RR:D08-1019.35.8.1.1 Repeatability (r)The difference between repetitiveresults obtained by the same operator in a given laboratoryapplying the s

33、ame test method with the same apparatus underconstant operating conditions on identical test material withinshort intervals of time would in the long run, in the normal andcorrect operation of the test method, exceed the followingvalues only in one case in 20.(1) Repeatability can be interpreted as

35、D7694M 183that is accepted as plausible due to random causes undernormal and correct operation of the test method.(2) Repeatability limits are listed in Table 1 and Table 2.5.8.1.2 Reproducibility (R)The difference between twosingle and independent results obtained by different operatorsapplying the

36、 same test method in different laboratories usingdifferent apparatus on identical test material would, in the longrun, in the normal and correct operation of the test method,exceed the following values only in one case in 20.(1) Reproducibility can be interpreted as maximum differ-ence between two r

37、esults, obtained under reproducibilityconditions, that is accepted as plausible due to random causesunder normal and correct operation of the test method.(2) Reproducibility limits cannot be calculated from singlelaboratory results.5.8.1.3 The above terms (repeatability and reproducibilitylimit) are

38、 used as specified in Practice E177.NOTE 2The data contained in 5.8 satisfies the requirement forruggedness testing. 41、ision statistics obtained in thisILS must not be treated as exact mathematical quantities whichare applicable to all circumstances and uses. The limitednumber of laboratories reporting replicate results essentiallyguarantees that there will be times when differences greaterthan predicted by the ILS

42、results will arise, sometimes withconsiderably greater or smaller frequency than the 95 %probability limit would imply. Consider the repeatability limitas a general guide, and the associated probability of 95 % asonly a rough indicator of what can be expected.5.8.2 BiasAt the time of the study, ther

43、e was no acceptedreference material suitable for determining the bias for this testmethod; therefore, no statement on bias is being made.5.8.3 The precision statement was determined through sta-tistical examination of 44 test results, from two laboratories, onthe materials described below.5.8.3.1 Ic

44、e ShieldPrefabricated, reinforced, self-adhesivepolymer-modified bituminous underlayment with a texturedskid-resistant polyethylene film.5.8.3.2 BasePrefabricated, reinforced, self-adhesivepolymer-modified bituminous sheet.5.8.3.3 CapPrefabricated, reinforced, granulated, self-adhesive polymer-modif

Side Lap Integrity (Head of Water Test)6.1 ScopeThis test method determines the waterproofintegrity of side lap seams formed according to the manufac-turers instructions or rolled as described in 5.3.2 at 23 6 2C73 6

46、4F.6.2 Specimens:6.2.1 The test specimen shall consist of two pieces of sheet,one with a selvage along the longer dimensions, 200 by 300mm 8 by 12 618 in. with the centerline of the selvagecentered on a piece of 10 mm 38 in. minimum thick, 300 by300 6 3 mm 12 by 12 618 in. APA Grade, Exposure 1plywo

47、od. The second sample (no selvage) shall have dimen-sions of 200 by 250 6 3mm8by10618 in.6.2.2 At least one specimen shall be tested for each sampleroll.6.3 Procedure:6.3.1 At room temperature (23 6 2C 74 6 4F), peel theentire release paper or film off the first self-adhesive sheet andplace the shee

48、t on the plywood. Roll the sheet as described in5.3.2. Place the second sheet (with release film partially peeledoff only to expose bottom coating to cover just the selvage)over the selvage positioned in a way to allow 25 6 3mm1618 in. of the selvage below to be exposed per Fig. 1 and pressdown the

49、edges of the sheet manually with finger pressure justhard enough to keep them from lifting. Roll over the lap asspecified in 5.3.2. The top sheet must only be adhered over theselvage, and must be loose over plywood past the selvage area.6.3.2 Cut the bottom out of a 4-L 1-gal can with a canopener and center it, bottom side down, on the membranecentering it with the inner edge of the selvage. Apply a 6-mm0.25-in. bead of silicone sealant completely around theoutside rim of
