3、fittings with factory assembled stainless steel press sleevesincorporating 3 view holes for use with cross-linked polyeth-ylene (PEX) tubing in nominal sizes516,38,12,58,34,1,114,112, and 2 that meet the requirements for Specification F876or F3253. These fittings are intended for use in 100 psi (689

4、.5kPa) systems operating at temperatures up to, and including,180 F (82 C). The requirements for materials, workmanship,dimensions, and markings to be used on the fittings and sleevesare also included. The components covered by this specifica-tion are intended for use in residential and commercial,

5、hot andcold, potable water distribution systems as well as sealedcentral heating, including under-floor heating/cooling systems,and residential fire sprinkler systems.1.2 UnitsThe values stated in inch-pound units are to beregarded as standard. Terminology3.1 Unless otherwise specified, definitions, abbreviationsand initialisms are in accordance with Terminology F412 andTerminology D1600.3.2 Defi

18、nitions:3.2.1 metal press insert fitting, nA type of fitting joint thatattaches directly to the plastic tubing by mechanically pressingand deforming an outer stainless steel sleeve over the plastictubing which then compresses and displaces plastic onto theinsert fittings barbs creating a seal and a

19、permanent connec-tion. The seal is realized between the outer diameter of theinsert fitting and the inner diameter of the plastic tubing.Mechanical pressing is achieved by the use of a press tool.3.2.2 press sleeve, nCylindrical shaped stainless steel ringwhich is compressed with a pressing tool whi

20、le located overthe PEX tubing securing it permanently to the underlying insertfitting.3.2.3 press tool, nA device by which the stainless sleeveis compressed by a forming die that is radially closed down onthe press sleeve by either hand powered or electro-mechanicalpressing action.4. Classification4

21、.1 This specification covers one class of fittings andstainless steel press sleeve suitable for use with PEX tubingthat meet either the requirements of Specification F876 orF3253.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsThe fittings shall be made from one of thefollowing metals:5.1.1 Cast Copper Allo

22、ysCast copper alloy fittings shallbe made from material meeting the requirements of Specifica-tion B584, copper alloy UNS Nos. C87710 or C87850 orStandard EN 1982, copper alloy EN Symbol CuSn4Zn6Pb3C.5.1.2 Machined Copper AlloyMachined Copper Alloyfittings shall be made from material meeting the req

25、certified for conformance with NSF/ANSI Standard 61 or thehealth effects portion of NSF/ANSI Standard 14 by an accept-able certifying organization when required by the regulatoryauthority having jurisdiction.5.3.1 NSF/ANSI Standard 372, limiting lead content of awater contacting component to 0.25 %,

26、 is a mandatoryrequirement within the current version of NSF/ANSI Standard61.NOTE 1Not all alloys listed in 5.1 are NSF/ANSI 61 or NSF 372compliant.5.3.2 Corrosion ResistanceFittings intended for potablewater applications shall comply with dezincification resistanceand stress corrosion cracking resi

27、stance requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 14.6. Requirements6.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, press sleeves, and PEX tubing. Fittingsand press sleeves shall meet the material and dimensionalrequirements of this specification. PEX tubing shall meet therequir

28、ements of Specification F876 or F3253. Use separate setsof assemblies for each performance test requirement.6.1.1 Fittings manufactured according to this specificationfor use with PEX tubing shall comply with Specification F877Requirements, Test Methods, and Retest and Rejection.6.2 DimensionsThe di

29、mensions and tolerances of fittingsand press sleeves shall be in accordance with Table 1 as shownin Fig. 1, and Table 2 as shown in Fig. 2 when measured inaccordance with 6.2.1.6.2.1 MeasurementsAny randomly selected fitting orfittings, and press sleeve or press sleeves, shall be used todetermine di

30、mensions. Measurements shall be made in accor-dance with Test Method D2122, except when measuringdiameters of the after pressed sleeves, which shall be measuredperpendicular to the jaw closure plane as shown in Fig. 4 andshall be in accordance with Table 3.4Available from American Society of Mechani

44、ress assembly and taking directmeasurements or by taking depth measurements from the frontface of the press sleeve to the end of the insert barb and to themiddle of each pressing band width (PBW). See Fig. 3.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 Fittings shall be made from materials that are hom

45、oge-neous throughout, uniform in appearance and free of visiblecracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or otherdefects that are visible to the naked eye and may affect fittingintegrity. All sealing surfaces shall be smooth and free offoreign material.7.2 Stainless steel press sleeves fin

46、ish and appearance shallbe of bright polished appearance and void of anydiscolorations, visible seams, dents, nicks, or scratches.8. Assembly8.1 Pressing JointsInsert fittings shall be joined by thecompression of a stainless steel sleeve around the outercircumference of the tubing, forcing the tubin

47、g material intoannular spaces formed by ribs on the fitting. Insert fittings andpress sleeves shall meet the dimensional and material require-ments of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet the requirementsof either Specification F876 or F3253. The dimensions of thepress sleeve after it has been press

48、ed and press location shall beaccordance with Table 3.8.1.1 Pressing ProcedureTo affix the insert fitting with anattached press sleeve to the tubing, the pressing procedure shallbe as follows: with the press sleeve in the factory assembledposition, insert the press fitting into the end of the square

49、ly cuttubing until the tubing contacts the shoulder of the fitting ortube stop. Tubing shall be fully visible in at least two viewholes and partially in the third located on the sleeve. Usingonly a manufacturer approved pressing tool, locate the jaws ofthe tool so their press profiles align with the fitting ribs asidentified in Fig. 3.
