Scope1.1 The purpose of this guide is to identify evaluationvariables that can be used to determine whether existingcoating qualification test
3、 data (for example, design basisaccident or DBA, chemical resistance, fire resistance, thermalconductivity, etc.) meet the respective nuclear power plantqualification requirements or whether requalification is re-quired. Guidance on developing a coating qualification testplan/procedure to qualify a
4、new coating is beyond the scope ofthis standard.1.2 This guide is intended for use in new construction andfor refurbishing existing coating systems applied to concreteand metal substrates within containment.1.3 This guide is intended for the use by, or under thesupervision of, a person knowledgeable

Significance and Use4.1 For conformance with the intent of the criteria listed in2.2 and 2.3, coating qualification tests are founded on plant-s
20、pecific test parameters that realistically reflect or bound thematerial and process variables that can reasonably be expectedto influence qualification testing performance.4.2 This guide provides guidance for evaluating existingcoating system qualification data for applicability to thenuclear plant
21、desiring to use a coating system not previouslyused in the plant or to qualify an existing coating system.4.3 It is recognized that new-build plants, as well as smallmodular reactors currently under development, may havedesign features that differ from those of the operating plantsthat formed the ba
22、sis for the existing test data. Therefore,careful review is required to assure that coating performancerequirements critical to the new design are adequately ad-dressed in the existing data or the need for additional coatingtesting is identified.5. Variables and Their Use5.1 Variables that can be us
23、ed to evaluate existing test dataare provided in Table 1. Also provided in Table 1 are criteria toassess the test values for each variable and a brief explanationof the significance of the variable relative to qualification of thecoating system. Each variable should be used to compare theexisting qu
24、alification test data to the respective nuclear plantslicense basis and coating qualification requirements. If com-parison of the existing test data for a given variable to theplants qualification requirements shows that the test data doesnot satisfy the criteria described in Table 1, the existing t
25、estdata is not applicable.5.1.1 Example: The existing test data shows that the test wasconducted at a peak temperature of 207F, but the plants DBApeak temperature is 238F. The DBA test data are not appli-cable to the plant because the DBAtest peak temperature is lessthan the postulated peak temperat
26、ure for the plants DBA.5.2 An example approach to evaluating existing qualifica-tion test data for applicability: A plant wants to use a singleproduct coating system to repair the existing coating systeminside reactor containment. The coating has not previouslybeen applied in the plant. The followin
27、g describes one possibleapproach to evaluating the existing qualification test data forapplicability to the plant using the variables in Table 1. Otherapproaches may be used. The specific variables to be used mayvary with the particular scope of the search; not all variablesmay be applicable or nece
28、ssary.5.2.1 Step 1: Search the existing DBAtest reports and selectthose applicable to the coating system.5.2.2 Step 2: Review the reports selected in Step 1 andusing the variable assessment criteria for DBA testing, selectthe reports that satisfy the criteria applicable to the plant.5.2.3 Step 3: Re
29、view the reports selected in Step 2 and usingthe variable assessment criteria for Irradiation, select thereports that satisfy the criteria applicable to the plant.5.2.4 Step 4: Review the reports selected in Step 3 and usingthe variable assessment criteria for Coupon Preparation, selectthe reports t
