Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements for 2-Bromo-3,3,3-Trifluoro-1-Propene (“2-BTP”) as a fire-fighting medium.1.2 This specification

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 2-BTP, n2-Bromo-3,3,3-Tri

10、fluoro-1-Propene(CF3CBr=CH2); a compound used to inert, extinguish, orsuppress a fire or explosion hazard.3.1.1.1 DiscussionThe terminology system for fluorine-containing compounds (described in detail in ASHRAE Stan-dard 34) provides a convenient means to reference the structureof individual compou

11、nds. By definition for unsaturatedcompounds, the first digit of the numbering system representsthe number of unsaturated bonds; the second digit representsone less than the number of carbon atoms in the compoundmolecule; the third digit, one more than the number ofhydrogen atoms in the compound mole

12、cule; and the fourthdigit, the number of fluorine atoms in the compound molecule.Unaccounted for valence requirements are assumed to bechlorine atoms. In those instances where bromine (Br) ispresent in place of part or all of the chlorine, an uppercaseletter B is added after the designation for the

13、parent compound.The number following the letter B represents the number ofbromine atoms present. Since thenumber of ato

19、ms required based on valence requirements aremet, there is no chlorine present. Example: CF3CBr=CH2isequivalent to R-1233B1.4. Material Requirements4.1 “2-BTP” shall conform to the requirements prescribedin Table 1 when tested by the appropriate test methods listed inSection 6.4.1.1 When a material

20、analysis is required, by agreementbetween the purchaser and the supplier, the total pressure in the2-BTP container, the fill density of 2-BTP within the containerand the maximum safe storage temperature shall be part of thematerial analysis (certification). The pressure shall be reportedin pound-for

21、ce per square inch gauge (preferred) or bar. The filldensity shall be reported in pounds per cubic foot at 70F(preferred) or kilograms per cubic meter at 21C. The maxi-mum safe storage temperature of the 2-BTP container shall bereported in degrees Fahrenheit (preferred) or in degrees Celsiusand shal

22、l conform to applicable regulations for the 2-BTPcontainer design and use.4.2 By agreement between the purchaser and the supplier,analysis may be required and limits established for elements orcompounds not specified in Table 1.4.3 Prolonged exposure to concentrations of 2-BTP inexcess of1%byvolume

23、in air during periods of elevatedadrenaline could produce cardiac arrhythmia in some person-nel.5. Sampling5.1 Samples of 2-BTP shall be taken from the liquid phasein a closed system (that is, the sample should not be exposed toair).5.2 The 2-BTP selected in accordance with 5.1 shall betested for qu

24、ality conformance in accordance with Table 1. Thepresence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.6. Test Methods6.1 PurityConduct the analysis in accordance with Prac-tice D6806.6.2 AcidityConduct the analysis in accordance with themethod specified in Procedure A of Test Method D2989.6.

25、3 Water ContentConduct the analysis in accordancewith the method specified in 2008 Appendix C to AHRIStandard 700-2014, Part 2.6.4 Nonvolatile ResidueConduct the analysis in accor-dance with the method specified in 2008 Appendix C to AHRIStandard 700-2014, Part 3. This material develops a stableresi

26、due, primarily comprised of oligomers containing up to fivemolecules of 2-BTP.6.5 Suspended Matter or SedimentWhile performing thenonvolatile residue analysis, examine visually for any sus-pended matter or sediment. Observation of any suspendedmatter or sediment shall constitute failure of the test.

27、6.6 StabilizersThis compound requires stabilizing addi-tives. The original manufacturer should be consulted.7. Container, Packaging, and Package Marking7.1 This material is not regulated as a hazardous material byDOT.7.2 Containers should be marked with the following infor-mation as a minimum:7.2.1
