1、Designation: C736 12 (Reapproved 2017)Standard Test Method forExtension-Recovery and Adhesion of Latex Sealants1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C736; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of l

2、ast revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers a laboratory procedure for thedetermination of the extension-recovery and adhesion of latexseal

After an agingperiod, the joint width is increased 25 %, the force is removed, and the specimen is permitted to recover. The amount ofrecove

Conditioning9.1 Cure the six

17、test specimens for 7 days at standardconditions, then for 7 days at 50 6 1C (122 6 2F). After the14-day cure period, condition the specimens for2hatstandardconditions.10. Procedure10.1 Remove the spacers (Fig. 1(c) and insert each speci-men in turn in the extension machine. At the rate of 12.7mm/min

18、 (0.5 in./min), extend the joint width 25 % to 15.9 mm(0.625 in.) and hold at this width for 5 min, meanwhileinspecting the sealant for cohesive or adhesive failure, or both.10.2 Release the force and allow the specimen to recover. Ifthe specimen must be removed from the machine to recover, insert a

19、15.9-mm (0.625-in.) spacer bar during the transfer andthen immediately remove for recovery.10.3 Allow the specimen to stand with the sealant surfaceuppermost undisturbed for a period of 2 h. Measure the jointwidth at the end of this period and determine the percent ofadhesive failure to both glass a

Calculation and Interpretation of Results11.1 Percent RecoveryDetermine the percent recovery, D,as follows:D 5 A 2 B!/A 2 C!# 3100 (1)where:A = extended joint width = 15.9 mm (0.625 in.) (by defi-nition of procedure),B = joint width after recovery (as measured), andC = original joint

Precision and Bias413.1 PrecisionThe precision calculations for this testmethod are based on the results of four laboratories testingthree materials, each in triplicate. The results are given inTables 1 and 2.13
