Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 The following requirements apply for the manufactureof weight-shift-control aircraft. T

3、his specification includesAircraft Operating Instructions (AOI) and Flight TrainingSupplement (FTS) requirements for aircraft that were designedand manufactured in accordance with ASTM Standards.1.1.1 This specification covers the minimum requirementsfor information that shall be provided by the man

4、ufacturer orseller of new light sport aircraft, engines, or propellers as a partof the initial sale or transfer to the first-end user.1.1.2 This specification does not apply to the sale or transferof used light sport aircraft, engines, or propellers.1.2 This specification applies to aircraft seeking

5、 civil avia-tion authority approval, in the form of flight certificates, flightpermits, or other like documentation.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate

6、 safety, health, and environmental practices and deter-mine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internationally recognized principles on standard-ization established in the Decision on Principles for theDevelopmen

7、t of International Standards, Guides and Recom-mendations issued by the World Trade Organization TechnicalBarriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.2. Terminology2.1 Definitions:2.1.1 weight-shift-control, npowered aircraft with aframed pivoting wing and a fuselage, controllable only in pitchand roll by the

8、 pilots ability to change the aircrafts center ofgravity with respect to the wing. Flight control of the aircraftdepends on the wings ability to flexibly deform rather than theuse of control surfaces.2.2 Acronyms:2.2.1 AOIaircraft operating instructions2.2.2 FTSflight training supplement2.2.3 MIPmai

9、ntenance and inspection procedures3. Significance and Use3.1 The purpose of this specification is to provide theminimum information necessary for the proper identificationand operation of each light sport aircraft.4. Information Requirements4.1 The information given shall be included where appli-cab

10、le on the information plate as specified in 4.2. In addition,the documented operating and maintenance instructions speci-fied in Sections 5 and 6 are to be furnished by the manufactureror seller at the time of initial sale of each aircraft.4.2 Information PlateA manufacturer-issued fire proofinforma

11、tion plate, printed in English or as defined by thegoverning civil aviation authority or agency in which theaircraft was initially sold, shall be permanently affixed to theaircraft in a visible location and shall be designed to remainlegible for the expected life of the aircraft. The informationplat

12、e shall be made of steel and have the required informationeither stamped or engraved onto the plate.4.2.1 Serial NumberA manufacturer-issued unique identi-fying number or code affixed to the aircraft.4.2.2 Name and Manufacturer, including the name of themanufacturers city, state, and country.4.2.3 M

13、odelA manufacturer-issued unique identifyingname, number or code assigned to each manufactured type ofaircraft having the same structural design or components.4.2.4 Date of ManufactureThe date (month and year)determined by the manufacturer that the aircraft met hisrequired design and manufacturing s

14、pecifications.4.2.5 Markings and Placards:4.2.5.1 The aircraft must be marked with the followingplacard: The aircraft operating instructions must be carriedwith the aircraft. Occupants must be familiar with informationnecessary for safe operation.4.2.5.2 Each marking and placard must be displayed in

Aircraft Operating Instructions (AOI)5.1 Each aircraft mu

18、st include a set of aircraft operatinginstructions which includes:5.1.1 Operating LimitationsThe instructions shall includelistings of all appropriate air-speed limitations for stall andmaximum speed, maximum wind limitations, weight andbalance, and power plant limitations.5.1.2 Operating DataThe in

19、structions shall include infor-mation concerning normal and emergency procedures andother pertinent information.5.1.3 FormatThe AOI shall contain the following sectionsin order of listing:5.1.3.1 GeneralIncludes illustration of aircraft, lists theapproved engine(s), propeller(s), fuel, oil, and any

20、definitionsof abbreviations and terminology.5.1.3.2 LimitationsA listing of limits including, but notlimited to, the airspeed(s), approved maneuvers, and engineoperating limits.5.1.3.3 Emergency ProceduresA listing of emergencyprocedures for items such as engine failure, air restart, fire, andso for

21、th.5.1.3.4 Normal ProceduresThis section shall cover themanufacturers recommended procedures for normal opera-tions such as preflight inspections, takeoff, and landing con-figuration.5.1.3.5 PerformanceInformation related to the perfor-mance of the aircraft in various environmental and operatingcond

22、itions such as fuel range, takeoff distances, and landingdistances. Additional data shall be provided on performance at(at least one) different flight weight and at (at least one)different density altitude.5.1.3.6 Weight and BalanceInformation related to weightand center of gravity requirements for

23、the safe operation of theaircraft.5.1.3.7 Description of the Aircraft and its SystemsAgeneral description of the aircraft, controls, instruments, andoptional equipment.5.1.3.8 Handling, Servicing, and MaintenanceInformation related to the approved maintenance procedures,manuals, and approved sources

24、 for information ormaintenance, or both.5.1.3.9 For weight-shift-control aircraft, the following addi-tional information shall be provided in the AOI, as required:(1) Aircraft SpeedMaximum and minimum speeds inmiles per hour.(2) Aircraft WeightMaximum and minimum total aircraftflight weights.(3) Env

25、ironmental RestrictionsRecommendations for op-erational restrictions relating to environmental conditions suchas, but not limited to, wind, rain, and extreme heat or cold.5.1.4 SupplementsThis section shall include any addi-tional information that the manufacturer wishes to add.5.1.5 Data Location a

26、nd Contact Information, for recoveryof certification documentation, should the original manufac-turer lose its ability to support the make and model.5.1.6 Setup and BreakdownInstructions for setup,breakdown, and preflight inspection provided in the AOI mustbe sufficiently detailed for a trained pilo

27、t to be able to fulfillthese actions competently.6. Maintenance and Inspection Procedures (MIP)6.1 Each aircraft shall have an MIP document provided forthe aircraft that complies with an accepted standard.7. Aircraft Flight Training Supplement (FTS)7.1 Each aircraft shall have an FTS that describes

28、features,performance, and procedures unique to that aircraft model.8. Manufacturers Statement of Compliance8.1 Each aircraft, aircraft engine, and propeller shall includea statement identifying the ASTM standards used for thedesign, quality control, continued maintenance, and productionacceptance te

29、sting of the product, and attesting to the fact thatthe product is in compliance with the provisions of thosespecifications.9. Operators Responsibility9.1 The following statement shall be included in the AOI:“There are inherent risks in the participation in recreationalaviation aircraft. Operators a

30、nd passengers of recreationalaviation aircraft, by participation, accept the risks inherent insuch participation of which the ordinary prudent person is orshould be aware. Pilots and passengers have a duty to exercisegood judgment and act in a responsible manner while using theaircraft and to obey a

31、ll oral or written warnings, or both, priorto or during use of the aircraft, or both.”10.
