、Designation: A353/A353M 17Standard Specification forPressure Vessel Plates, Alloy Steel, Double-Normalized andTempered 9 % Nickel1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A353/A353M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or, in the case of

、 revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification2covers double-normalized and tem-pered 9 % nickel steel plates intended par

、ticularly for weldedpressure vessels for cryogenic service.1.2 Plates produced under this specification are subject toimpact testing at 320F 195C or at such other tempera-tures as are agreed upon.1.3 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the material to meet the specific

、mechanicalproperty requirements.1.4 This material is susceptible to magnetization. Use ofmagnets in handling after heat treatment should be avoided ifresidual magnetism would be detrimental to subsequent fabri-cation or service.1.5 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be re

The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result in nonconformance with the specifi-cation.1.6 T
