This Part has been prepared under the direction of the Shipbuilding and Marine Standards Committee and is identical with ISO7221:1984 “Shipbuilding and marine structures Shipborne barges, series1, on barge carriers Principal technical requirements”, published by the International Organizati
7、on for Standardization (ISO). ISO7221 was produced as a result of international discussion in which the UK took an active part. Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a BritishStandard without deviation. Some terminology a
8、nd certain conventions are not identical with those used in BritishStandards; attention is drawn especially to the following. Wherever the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as “BritishStandard”. Textual error. When adopting the text of the Interna
9、tional Standard, the textual error given below was discovered. It has been marked in the text and has been reported to ISO in a proposal to amend the text of the International Standard. In clause1, line3, “carries” should be read as “carriers”. A British Standard does not purport to include all the

13、t on board barge carries 1) . 2 Reference ISO4175, Shipbuilding Shipborne barges, series1 Main dimensions. 3 Conditions of lifting Shipborne barges, series1, shall be built so that their strength is sufficient to permit repeated lifting by lifting posts with the barge fully loaded. 4 Stacking Liftin
14、g posts of shipborne barges, series1A,1B and1C, shall be equal in strength and withstand the mass loading of four barges, series1A, fully loaded while stacked in a barge carriers hold. In this case, the inertia loadings arising from oscillating and linear translatory motion of the barge carrier and
15、any uneven distribution of load in a barge should be taken into account. 5 Securing the barges in the hold and on deck of the barge carrier To secure the barges in the hold and on deck of the barge carrier they shall be fitted with special accessories and devices (supporting surfaces, lifting post f
16、ittings). The arrangement and construction of these accessories and devices shall be in accordance with ISO4175. 6 Deck openings All deck openings (including hatch openings) where operationally appropriate shall be provided with adequate weather-tight protection devices to prevent the ingress of rai
