32、COVERAGEThis specication covers one grade of intermediatestrength steel plates, though 21/2in. thick, for use in weldedconstruction of offshore structures. These steels are intendedfor fabrication primarily by cold forming and welding as perAPI Spec 2B. The welding procedure is of fundamentalimporta

Conversely, thesteel should be amendable to fabrication and welding undershipyard and offshore conditions. These steels are suitable foruse in selected portions of offshore structures, which mustresi

When hot or warmforming or PWHT above 1100F is anticipated for acceler-ated cooling (AC) or quenched and tempered (QC) plates, S9should be invoked, (italics added per ASTM A913).1.2 PRIMARY APPLICATIONThe primary use of these steels is for Class B applica-tions

API Specs 2H, 2W, and 2Ycover other steels providing improved mechanical propertiesand toughness for Class A applications and should be usedwhere substantial z-direction stresses are expected.2 ReferencesThe applicable editions of standards referenced herein areas follows:API
