Abstract. This Commercial
2、Item Description covers the requirements for cotton and polyester/cotton pillowcases intended for use by the military services and non-military agencies of the Federal Government. 15、ng and seaming shall be white or matching (as specified), either cotton soft finish, machine thread, Ticket No. 50 (40 tex, nominal), 3 ply; or cotton-covered polyester thread, Ticket No. 70 (33 tex, nominal), 2 ply; or polyester spun, Ticket No. 70 (30 tex, nominal), 2 or 3 ply. The color of the thread for hemming Types III, IV, V, and VI pillowcases shall be shade Orange TL, C.A. 66076. The thread shall show “good“ colorfastness to laundering, dry heat, and light in a
17、ccordance with applicable AATCC test methods. All sewing shall be done with 10 to 16 stitches per inch. Dimensions. 20、ed tolerances for the width and length dimensions shall be - + 1/2 in each direction. Hems. The hem shall be of uniform width as specified in Table III. The hem shall be produced by turning the edge of the material under 1/2 2 1/4 inch, folding it back over the body of the material and stitching the
21、 turned and folded portion of the body of the material with one row of single-needle, straight-lock stitches at a minimum of 10 stitches/in. Seams. When one or two selvages are seamed, a lock stitch or chain stitch shall be used. Stitching shall be 1/8 - 5/8 inch from the selvage edge. As an alterna
22、te, a 5/32 - 1/4 inch overedge stitch, or a lock stitch or chain stitch, 3/8 - 5/8 inch from the edge may be used. The pillowcases shall be seamed and the seams shall be straight when pillowcases are laid flat. When one selvage and one nonselvage of material are joined, they shall be stitched with a
23、 5/32 - 1/4 inch overedge, or a chain stitch 3/8 - 5/8 inch from the material edge. A lock stitching, when not caught in other seams and stitches, shall be bartacked not less than 1/2 inch at seam ends and stitching. Thread breaks shall be secured by stitching the back of the break not less than 1/2
24、 inch. Label/markinq. The marking shall be a heat transfer (decalcomania), with direct printing, stamping or stenciling. The print shall be well defined, clearly legible; and shall not show smearing, bleeding, or off-setting. Printing shall not show any strike-through to the outside of the cloth. Un
25、less otherwise specified, the printing shall be black and the label cloth shall be white. The cloth shall be either undyed cotton or polyester, or a blend of undyed cotton and polyester. Each pillowcase shall have the block letters “US“ 1/2 -+ 1/16 inch in height. Medical procurements shall have a c
26、aduceus 1-7/8 t 1/8 inch in height centered between the black letters “U“ and “S“ 1/2 1/16 inch in height in accordance with Type I of MS 16686. Markings shall be done on the inside. As an alternate, the marking may be done with a sewn-in label. Markings shall show colorfastness to laundering, dry a
27、nd wet heat, accelerated laundering, dry cleaning, and weathering (wool method) in accordance with applicable AATCC test methods. Label/taq. Each pillowcase shall be individually bar-coded with the Type VIII, Class 17 label/tag of DDD-L-20. The label/tag bar code shall be located so that it is compl

29、ith the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. Workmanship. The finished pillowcases shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers sha
30、ll submit samples of their intended production. The product demonstration model will consist of units independently developed. Product demonstration models will be analyzed and evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product demonstrati
31、on models will be retained by the government. One (1) product demonstration model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing standard for the corresponding production items delivered under this contract. Offerers are advised that the product demonstration model does
32、not relieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. Pillowcase lots shall be inspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedure and Tables for Inspection by Attributes,“ ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality Control. Visual Examination.
36、The pillowcases shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of pillowcases. The sample unit is one pillowcase. The inspection level shall be I and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.0. Defects.

The finished pillowcases shall conform to the dimensions specified. Any dimension that is not within the established toleranc
41、e shall be classified as a defect. The sample unit shall be one pillowcase; the inspection level shall be S-3; and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.0. Packaqinq Examination. The fully packaged shipping containers shall be examined in accordance with defects listed
