SCOPE. This commercial item description (
3、CID) covers technical grade anhydrous sodium carbonate for use in various washing, cleaning, and scouring processes, with or without soap, as conditions may require when a moderately strong alkaline material is desired, and for the treatment of water. It is not intended for use in glass making. Anhy
4、drous sodium carbonate is commonly known as soda ash. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The anhydrous sodium carbonate shall conform to the following types (see 7.4(b): Type I - Light soda ash Type II - Medium soda ash Type III - Dense or heavy soda ash Type IV - Briquettes 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 Chemical

The anhydrous sodium carbonate shall display the chemical and physical properties listed in table I when tested in accordance with ASTM D 501, “Standard Test Methods of Sampling and
8、Chemical Analysis of Alkaline Detergents“. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4.2 Material safety data
9、sheets (MSDS). MSDS shall be furnished in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1200, “Hazard Communication“, and FED-STD-313, “Material Safety Data, Transportation Data, and Disposal Data for Hazardous Materials Furnished to Government Activities“, and submitted as directed in the acquisition order at the ti
10、me of acquisition award. 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in
11、 the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Market acceptability.
