SCOPE
2、. This commercial item description covers treated and untreated crossarms. The crossarms shall be used for support and to space the wires on wooden telephone and electric poles. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: 2.1 TvDe. The crossarm typeluse and the width X depth shall be as specified in the contract or
3、 order. 2.2 Classification. Crossarms must be specified as treated or untreated. If treated, the crossarms preservative treatment of either creosote or pentachlorophenol shall be as specified in the contract or order. The retention of the preservative treatment must be specified in pounds per cubic
4、foot in accordance with AWPA Standards C1, C25, or C26. 2.3 Species. The species of wood, Douglas Fir or Dense Southern Pine, for the crossarms must be as specified in the contract or order. Douglas Fir may be furnished in either dense or close grain grade or a mixture of both grades. 2.4 -. Wood us
5、ed in the manufacture of the crossarms shall be kiln dried or air dried to a moisture content of 22 percent or less. Moisture content shall be determined prior to treatment. 2.5 Dimensions. The length, boring details, pin hole arrangement, brace bolt hole spacing, and incising shall be as specified
6、in contract or order. Tolerances for these dimensions shall conform to the requirement of ANSI 05.3. 2.6 Edges. The edges shall be rounded or chamfered as specified in ANSI 05.3 Beneficial comments, recommendations, additions, deletions, clarifications, etc. and any data which may improve this docum

8、35 501 m A-A-58207 2.7 Identification marking. Each crossarm shall be marked with typical brand and key information contained in AWPA M6. The information shall be permanently and legibly burn- branded on the crossarm or shall include the information of a recessed noncorrosive metal tag attached ther
9、eto. The code letters shall not be less the 1/2 inch high if burn-branded, and not less the 1/8 inch high if on a metal tag; the metal tags shall be attached after treatment, if treated. ABC0 = Suppliers brand 91 SPC 8 = Year of treatment, if applicable = Species of wood and preservative treatment =
10、 Retention pounds per cubic foot The issues of the ANSI and AWPA standards in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with the stated requirement. 3. REGULATORY REOUIREMENTS. 3.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials
11、 to the maximum extent possible in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Contractor Certification. The contractor shall certi and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics
12、of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. That the product offered is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof
13、 of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract or order. 5. PACKAGING REQUIREMENTS. 5.1 Packaaina. packina. and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and assure
14、acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handing, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as spe
15、cified in the contract or order. 6. NOTES. 6.1 Part Identification Number (PIN).
