8、ed by the contracting officer.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Preproduction. T h i s specification makes provision for preproduction testing. 3.2 Components. Specifications and standards for necessary commoditi

10、es and services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 2 3.4 Materials- Materials shall be as specified herein, Materials not definitely specified shall be of the best commercial quality and entirely suitable for the pur- pose. Materials shall be free from all defects

11、 and imperfections that might affect the serviceability of the finished item. 3.4.1 Thermal insulation material. All insulating material shall maintain its shape and not settle, sag, pack, absorb water, or disintegrate under the vi- brations and temperatures encountered in use. All insulation shall

12、be fire resistant. 3.5 Design and construction. Thecrane shall be so designed and constructed that no parts will work loose in service. It shall be built to withstand the strains, jars, vibrations y and other conditions incident to shipping, storage, and service. 3.5.1 Reliability. The crane shall h

13、ave a minimum MTBF (mean-tinie-between- failures) of 43 hours with a minimum reliability of 0.98 for a l-hour mission at a confidence factor of 0.90 (see 6.3.1 and 6.3.2). 3.5.2 Maintainability. The crane shall be designed and constructed as specified herein and to provide the following: a. Minimum

Permit adjustments, servicing, re- placement of parts and components, and

16、 other maintenance with minimum distur- bance to other equipment parts or com- ponents. Parts and components shall be located for ample and rapid access unless performance or reliability will be ap- preciably degraded by the accessible lo- cation. In performing maintenance, if en- gineering reasonin

17、g or data determines that physical or visual interference be- tween items cannot be avoided, the item predicted to require the most maintenance shall be located for best accessibility d. Permit maintenance with general- purpose tools and equipment normally available commercially. Use of special- pur

18、pose tools and e quip m en t shall be subject to approval by the pro- curing activity e. Minimum number of tools required for maintenance by design practices such as reducing-the variety of bolt head sizes to the practicable minimum f. Foolproofness - Where improper in- stallation of an item could c

19、ause mal- function of the item or the equipment in which it is installed, an unsymmetrical mounting means shall be provided where practical. That mounting shall allow the item to be installed only in its proper operating position. If an unsymmetrical mounting means is not practical, the item shall b

20、e so mounted that its proper operating position can be readily and visibly determined by service maintenance personnel. 3.5.3 Safety features 3.5.3.1 Guards. All rotating and recip- rocating parts that are located in a position which constitutes a hazard to operating personnel shall be fully enclose

21、d MIL-C-27 840C (USAF) or properly guarded. All exposed parts that are subject to high operating tem- peratures or electrically energized shall be insulated, fully enclosed, or adequately guarded. A guard shall be provided for the engine fan. 3.5.3.2 NonskkQurfaces. All running boards, steps, and wa

22、lkways external to the cab shall be skidproof. 3.5.3.3 Boom capacity indicators 3.5.3.3.1 Boom angle indicator. A pen- dulum type boom angle indicator shall be provided and so mounted as to be easily read in the crane cab. 3.5.3.3.2 Boom length indicator. A boom length indicator shall be provided fo

23、r the crane operator to readily determine boom length. 3.5.3.3.3 Boom capacity chart. A boom capacity chart shall be provided in the crane cab to be used in conjunction with the boom length indicator and boom angle indicator. * 3.5.3.4 Safe load control device. A de- vice shall be provided to limit

24、the lifting operations to -loads of not greater than 85 percent of insipient tipping loads at all radii, both with and without use of the outriggers. This device shall govern the cranes operations to prohibit over- loading at all radii, with maximum to minimum boom lengths, when the max- imum safe l

25、oad-radius c o m b i n at i o n is reached. Visual and audible warnings shall be provided to warn the operator of the approach to the safe load limits. * 3.5.3.5. Deadman control and automatic brakes. With manual release of any cran- ing motion, the operators control shall automatically apply brakes

Each boom actuating mechanism shall be provided with safety features to prevent

27、descent of the load in the event of power failure or failure of the hoist line mech- anism, boom angle mechanism, or boom length mechanism. An additional locking device shall be provided to automatically prevent change of boom angle in the event of boom angle mechanism failure. 3.5.3.6 H o i s t sys

28、tem failure. Means shall be provided to prevent injury to the operator in the event of breakage of either the boom hoist system or the load hoist cable. * 3.5.4 Lubrication. The crane shall be designed and constructed to operate sat- isfactorily when lubricated with the stan- dard military lubricant

29、s specified in MIL-M-8090. * 3.5.4.1 Lubrication fittings. Lubri- cation fittings shall conform to MILF- 3541 and shall be located in accessible, protected positions. Extended fittings shall be provided to lubricate parts or as- semblies that are not readily accessible for direct lubrication or whic

30、h are likely to be overlooked because of in- accessibility. * 3.5.4.2 Lubrication chart. A lubrica- tion chart shall be provided directing attention to all lubrication fittings and shall specify the range and grade of lubricant required for critical tempera- tures. The chart shall be permanently att

31、ached to the unit in an accessible and convenient location. 3.5.5 Steps or ladders. Steps or ladders shall be provided and properly located - to provide- safe and easy access to both the truck and crane. 3.5.6 Air transportability. The crane shall be designed for air transportability in the assemble

32、d condition -in a Type C-124 aircraft in accordance with MIGA- 8421. 3.6 Performance 3.6.1 E nv i r o nme n t al co n d i t io n s. The crane shall be capable of operating without winterization aids in ambient tem- peratures ranging from +125 to -20F. 3.6.2 Mobility. When fully equipped, the crane s

33、hall attain the performance, on dry, level concrete or asphalt surfaces, as specified in MILT-45354. * 3.6.3 Lifting capacity. The crane with outriggers extended shall be capable of handliig a 4,000-pound load withthe load at a radius (see 6.3.3) of 16 feet, lift- ing and lowering the load verticall

34、y at speeds up to 45 fpm. Without the out- riggers extended, the crane shall be capable of lifting a 2,000-pound load at a radius of 16 feet, lifting the load vertically until the hook is 6 feet above the ground. With these loads suspended just above the ground, the crane shall be capable of rotatin

35、g 270“ at a speed up to but not exceeding 4 rpm. The re- volving motion shall be capable of stopping at any position relative to the chassis. The distance between the hook and the rear of the truck chassis or outriggers shall be at least 5 feet during this rotation. For . precision operation, the cr

36、ane shall permit hoisting and lowering of all rated loads at a slow rate, single line speed of 2 fpm or less. Free spooling of line will not be permitted. Operation at any given hoist- ing or lowering speed and at varying speeds shall provide smooth and steady movement of a load. Under any of these

49、ge diameter, double-row ball bearings, or equal. The bearings and raceways shall be packed in grease and protected by a grease labyrinth seal. The swing gear circle shall transmit all crane loads to the crane base. 3.7.3.2 Revolving frame. The revolving frame shall be of heavy structural steel members rigidly fastened to the upper portion of the ball bearing swing gear circle. It shall be properly shaped and con- structed to mount and carry the loads of all components w
