The TMs are to be prepared in single or subdivided format, or as achapter of a maintenance/operation or ov

5、erhaul manual, as specified by the acquiring activity (see 6.2 b. ).Thisspecification provides for electronic delivery of data through use of the Document T ype Definition(DTD) prescribed in paragraph A.1 of Appendix A.1.2 D e t a i l . The level of detail contained in this detail specification is n

6、ecessary to comply with therequirements of the Joint Computer aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (JCALS) system.2 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS2.1 G e n e r a l . The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 , and 4 of this specification.This section does not include documents cited

Nothing in this document, however , supersedesapplicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.3 REQUIREMENTS3.1 P r e p a r a t i o n . The genera

17、l manner of preparation shall be in accordance with the requirements ofMIL - STD - 38784. The contractor shall use the DTD prescribed in paragraph A.1 of Appendix A forelectronic delivery of this manual (see 6.2 e. ).3.1.1 E l e c t r o n i c p r e s e n t a t i o n . Electronic presentation require

18、ments prescribed herein shall apply only to thedevelopment of T ype 1 linear data for electronic viewers. For development of Portable Document Format(PDF) data, print presentation requirements herein shall apply , as applicable.3.1.2 P r i n t p r e s e n t a t i o n . IPB manuals shall be prepared

19、in the 8.5 by 1 1 - inch size.3.2 M a n u a l l a y o u t . When the maintenance instructions for the equipment are in a single manual, the IPBshall also be in a separate single manual, except as specified in 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. All parts of the end itemshall be listed in accordance with the requiremen

20、ts found elsewhere in this specification, regardless of thelevel of coverage (or ganizational, intermediate, or depot) of the associated maintenance manual(s).3.2.1 C o m b i n e d m a n u a l s . When specified (see 6.2 f. ), the IPB shall be included in the maintenanceinstructions manual as the la

21、st chapter or last W ork Package (WP) and numbered in accordance withMIL - DTL - 87929 (MIL - STD - 38784 for legacey). However , if dif ference data sheets are to be included, theIPB shall precede them. The Chapter 1 material shall be included in the manual foreword or , whenusing MIL - DTL - 87929

22、 format, in the IPB WP foreword. The Chapter 3 and 4 material shall follow theMaintenance Parts List (MPL).Electronic presentation: Page count restrictions do not apply .Print presentation: Combined manuals shall not exceed 800 page units (including foldouts).3.2.2 S u b d i v i d e d m a n u a l .

23、When specified (see 6.2 g. ), the IPB manual MPL chapter shall be subdivided tofollow the chapter or WP structure of the maintenance manuals. Each subdivision shall be assigned aseparate T echnical Order number , for example, 1X - XX - 4 - 1, 1X - XX - 4 - 2, 1X - XX - 4 - 3, etc.Electronic presenta

24、tion: Page count restrictions do not apply .Print presentation: Chapters 1, 3, and 4 shall be combined in the first TM if it will not cause the manual toexceed 800 pages. The sequence shall be Foreword, Numerical Index, and Reference Designation Index. Ifcombining chapters would cause the first TM t

25、o exceed 800 pages, Chapter 1 shall be included in thefirst TM and Chapters 3 and 4 in the last TM.3.3 A r r a n g e m e n t . The manual shall contain as applicable:Front MatterChapter 1 - ForewordChapter 2 - Maintenance Parts ListChapter 3 - Numerical IndexChapter 4 - Reference Designator Index an

26、d System Subsystem Sub - subsystem Number (SSSN)Index if used3.4 F r o n t m a t t e r . Front matter shall be prepared in accordance with the requirements of MIL - STD - 38784with the following exceptions:3.4.1 T a b l e o f c o n t e n t s . The illustrations shall be listed by title in alphabetic

27、al order . When portions of anIPB are divided into groups, systems, etc., illustration titles shall be listed below group, system, etc.,titles. For combined manuals, the illustrations shall be listed in the manual s list of illustrations, if used.Otherwise, they shall be listed as previously describ

Foreword/preface/introduction requirements of MIL - STD - 38784 shall be contained inCha

30、pter 1, Foreword.3.4.2.1 L i s t o f r e l a t e d p u b l i c a t i o n s ( L R P ) . In addition to the requirements of MIL - STD - 38784, separateIPB manuals for accessories, components, assemblies, vendor items, etc., shall be listed. The list shallinclude the part number and listed in alphanume

31、ric sequence by part number . Model or type numbershall be used when no part number has been assigned. If applicable, the publication number and titlefor a power package buildup manual with IPB shall also be listed.Electronic print requirement: LRP entries shall be linked to the books which they app

32、ly when applicable.3.5 C h a p t e r 1 , F o r e w o r d . Chapter 1 shall contain the following:3.5.1 M o d e l ( s ) c o v e r e d . A listing of the models, types, configurations, modifications, task numbers, andseries or blocks of the end item covered by the manual.3.5.2 S e r i a l i z a t i o

The serialization table, when required by the acquiring activity , shall be used tospecify “Useable On“ codes (see 6.2 h. ).3.5.3 F i n d i n g p a r t n u m b e r s , i l l u s t r a t i o n , d e s c r i p t i o n .Electronic presentation requirement: An illustrated explanation (see figure 1 )

34、 shall be included whenMPL contains at least 200 part numbers.Print presentation requirement: When the MPL exceeds 16 pages, an illustrated explanation (see figure 1 )shall be included to describe:a. How to find a part number or description using the T able of Contents and illustration titles.b. How

35、 to find the illustration or description if a part number or reference designator is known.3.5.4 L i s t i n g o f s i m i l a r a s s e m b l i e s . An explanation of the method used to list parts of similar assembliesshall be included (see 3.6.9.7 ).3.5.5 P a r t s i n k i t s o r q u i c k c h a

36、 n g e u n i t s . When repair parts are supplied in the form of kits or quick changeunits, an explanation shall be included, and shall include information on determining what parts are included.3.5.6 S y m b o l s . An explanation of the dash ( -) (see 3.6.7.1.4 ), number sign (#) (see 3.6.9.2 and

37、3.6.10.3 ),asterisk (*) (see 3.6.9.9 ), and “F“ (see 3.7.2.2 ) symbols shall be included.3.5.7 S h e e t n u m b e r e x p l a n a t i o n . If multisheet illustrations are used, an explanation shall be includedthat the sheet number follows the index number and is separated with a slash (/) (see 3.6

38、.7.1 ). Theexplanation shall also state that, if an indexed item is on more than one sheet of an illustration, thefirst and last sheet numbers on which the item appears are given.3.5.8 U s e a b l e o n c o d e s . Definitions of the useable on codes used in the MPL of the manual shall beprovided. A

39、n explanation that codes are omitted for assemblies and parts installed in all configurations ofthe end items covered in the manual shall be included. Codes shown shall not be limited to the initialproduction configuration of a part or assembly .3.5.9 S o u r c e , M a i n t e n a n c e , a n d R e

40、c o v e r a b i l i t y ( S M R ) c o d e s . The following statement shall be included:“This manual contains Joint Military Service Uniform Source, Maintenance, and Recoverability (SMR)codes. Definitions of these SMR codes are available in T O 00 - 25 - 195.“3.5.10 N u c l e a r h a r d n e s s . I

41、f equipment covered has nuclear survivability requirements (for example,Over Pressure and Burst, Thermal Radiation, Electromagnetic Pulse, or T ransient Radiation Ef fects onElectronics), all Hardness Critical Items (HCI) shall be marked with . Unless otherwise specified bythe acquiring activity , a

42、ll HCIs shall be marked with the symbol immediately preceding the descriptionof the item (see 3.6.7.4.1 ). When approved by the acquiring activity , the symbol *HCI* may beused in lieu of the boxed HCI symbol (see 6.2 i. ).4Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without

43、 license from IHS-,-,-MIL - DTL - 38807D3.5.10.1 N u c l e a r h a r d n e s s s y m b o l e x p l a n a t i o n . Chapter 1 shall include a listing and explanation of the HCIsymbol and other pertinent information, as necessary , to emphasize the uniqueness of hardness features. Thisshall include an

44、 explanation that the HCI symbol establishes special requirements limiting changes andsubstitutions, and that the specific parts listed must be used to ensure hardness is not degraded. Thisstatement shall be preceded by a CAUTION heading. All changes to, or proposed substitutions of, HCIsmust be app

45、roved by the acquiring activity (see 6.2 j. ).3.5.1 1 E l e c t r o s t a t i c D i s c h a r g e S e n s i t i v e ( E S D S ) p a r t s . If equipment covered contains ESDS parts, theyshall be marked as shown in T O 0025234 (see figure 8 ). Unless otherwise specified by the acquiringactivity , all

46、 ESDS parts shall be marked with the ESDS symbol immediately preceding the descriptionof the item (see 3.6.7.4 a. ). When approved by the acquiring activity , the symbol *ESD* may beused in lieu of the ESDS symbol (see 6.2 k. ).3.5.1 1.1 E S D S s y m b o l e x p l a n a t i o n . Chapter 1 shall in

47、clude a listing and explanation of the ESDSsymbol: Other pertinent information shall be included as necessary to emphasize the uniqueness of ESDSparts. This shall include an explanation that the ESDS symbol requires that all ESDS parts be handledin accordance with the ESDS device handling procedures

48、 in T O 00 - 25 - 234. This explanation shallbe preceded by a CAUTION heading.3.5.12 P a r t s s t a n d a r d i z a t i o n . The following paragraph shall be included in the foreword chapter:“Parts Standardization. Authority for use of a part number dif ferent than the part number listed inthis IP

49、B is established by the Department of Defense (DoD) Interchangeability and Substitution(I the remaining space shall form thedescription column. Parts shall be listed to show parts relationship and in the sequence of disassembly ,except where that sequence cannot be maintained.FIGUREwhen the same partappears more than once in an illustration, the same index number shall be assigned to all identical parts.3.6.7.1.2 I n d e x n u m b e r s f o r a t t a c h i n g p a r
