REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Standard sample. shall be equal to or better than the standard sample with respect to all characteristics for which the standard sample is referenced (see 6.3). 3.2 First article approval. specified by the Procuring Activity (see 6.2). The yarn for knitting and cover stitching the hood shall be made from long staple, fleece or pulled sheeps wool, not lower in grade than 56s U.S. Standard. The wool shall be carded, combed, spun,
12、and twisted into two-ply worsted yarn. The use of noils, laps or any other wool manufacturing by products is p.rohibited. The thread for all sewing operations shall be cotton, not finer than 50/3, conforming to type IA3 of V-T-276 and shall be vat dyed to match sage green USAF color shade No. 1509 (see 6.3). ha

The bottom of the hood shall be knitted with a 1 by 1 rib stitch for 6-3/4 inches, finished with a racked nonraveling selvage edge. The top of * 3.7 Fabrication. A 1-5/16 inch by 2-3/4 inch, contractors label conforming to type I, class 4 of DDD-L-20 shall be securely sewn to the inside at the top of the crown, position
32、ed to the right or left of the center seam and below the darts of each hood. both ends not less than 1/8 inch nor more than 1/4 inch from the ends of the label. The label shall be attached slack so that the material ofthe hood under the label may be stitched approximately 1/2 inch without constricti
