Scope1.1 += This specification covers the requirements for certain types ofhermeti

Indicators furnished under this specification shall he products a71which are authorized by :he qualifying activity for listing on the applicablequalified product list at the time of award of contract (see 4.4 and 6.5).
23、3.2 Selection of standarda and specif icationa. Standards and specifications fornecessary commodities and services not specified herein shall he selected inaccordance with MIL-STD-970.3.3 Preliminary list of electronic parts. A preliminary list of electronic partsshall be furnished directly to the c
24、ontracting activity in accordance withMIL-E-5400 prior to ordering or fabricating parts for the production quantity. Theparts shall conform to MIL-E-5400. Nonstandard parta shall be approved by thecontracting activity prior to the fabrication of the completed item. Wheneverpracticable, nonstandard e
25、lectronic parts shall not constitute more than 30 percent .of the total quantity of electronic parts used in the construction of the indicator.3.4 Materials3.4.1 Nonmagnetic materials. Nonmagnetic materials shall be used for all parts ofthe indicator, except where magnetic materiala are essential.3.
26、4.2 Nonferrous materiala. Nonferrous materials shall be used for all parts of theindicator, except where ferrous materials are essential.3.4.3 Metals. Metals shall be of the corrosionresistant type or treated to resistcorrosion due to fuels, salt fog, or atmospheric conditions likely to be met insto
27、rage or normal service. a713.4.3.1 Dissimilar metals. Unleaa protected against electrolytic corrosion,diaaimilar metals shall not be used in intimate contact with each other. Dissimilarmetals are defined in MIL-STD-889.3.4.4 Toxic and Corrosive fumes. The indicator shall be of such material andconst
28、ruction that when the material la burned, fumes or gaaes that combine wfth theatmosphere to form acid or corrosive alkali will not be liberated.3.4.5 Protective treatment. Nhen materials are used in the construction of theindicator that are subject to deterioration when exposed to climatic andenviro
29、nmental conditions likely to occur during service usage, they shall beprotected against such deterioration in a manner that will in no way preventcompliance with the requirements of this specification. The uae of any protectivecoating that will crack, chip, or scale with age or extremes of climatic
30、andenvironmental conditions shall be avoided.3.4.6 Recycled and reclaimed materials. Recycled and reclaimed materials shall beencouraged to the msximum extent poaaible without jeopardizing the intended end useof the item.3.5 Design and construction. Unless otherwise specified, the requirements areap
31、plicable to all types of indicators covered by this specification.3.5.1 Function. The indicator shall operate f rcim a second harmonic input thatshall be received from its respective transmitter. The EFU-26/A aerlea indicators a71shall include a constant frequency pnwer supply to drive the respectiv

The EFU-26/A-
33、7, jA-8, and/A-13 and the EFU-43/A-7,/A-8, and /A-13 indicators shall include all of the circuitry and mechanismnecessary to convert a second harmonic signal from a TRU-98JA transmitter conformingto MIL-T-83027 to a pointer indication of fuel flow rate in pounds-per-hour ofaviation fuel. The indicat
34、or shall be designed to operate on the second harmonicsystem principle in which the moving element consists of nonenergized Permanent2-pOle msgnets. The toroidally wound stator is energized with 115V 400-Hzsingle-phase a-c power. Remote indicaton of the angular position of the turbine inthe TRU-98/A
35、 transmitter is obtained through the use of the coil and core operatingon the permanent magnet rotor ( turbine). Tbe direct-current resistent of thepickoff coil sections shall betemperature is 250 15 “C.3.5.2 Input signals3.5.2.1 Transmitter rotation.turbine will rotate 307” for abetween 290 and 350
36、 ohms perThe TRU-98/A transmitter issection when the coilcalibrated so that thefull-scale reading. For an increasing flow rate, theturbine shall rotate in a clockwise direction when viewed from the inlet end.3.5.2.2 Power. The indicators shall be designed to operate from 115V 10 percent400 Hz 10 per
37、cent single-phase power as specified in MIL-STD-704 for equipmenthaving Category B characteristics. In addition, the EFU-26/A-13 and EFU-43/A-13indicators shall operate from power having a frequency variation as great as 20percent except that the ratio of frequency to voltage shall deviate from norm
38、al(400/115) by more than :22 percent.3.5.2.2.1 Power consumption. Indicator power consumption (including the powerSUDDIY) shall not exceed 50 va for the EFU-26/A series indicators with the. . .transmitter load connected but excluding the lightingseries indicators.circuit and 15 va for EFU-43/A3.5.3
39、Output signals3.5.3.1 Power supply. The EFU-26/A series indicators shall supply either 34 4V rms8-HZ 0.05 percent 2-phase power or 65 to 126v 400 Hz single-phase a-c power, butnot both, to the TRU-98/A transmitter conforming to MIL-I-83027. The power supplyshall meet the applicable tolerances of tab
40、le I. The output of the power supplyaball be either untuned or broadly tuned and shall operate one transmitter.3.5.3.2 Power supply warmup. After a warmup period of not more than 1 minute, thepower supply shall meet the tolerances specified in table I over an operating rangeof -54” to 71”C.3.5.4 Cas
41、e. The case shall conform to MS33639 for tbe 2-inch size, shall befinisbed in durable dull black, and shall be hermetically sealed. The seal shall beso designed and constructed that it will not be dependent upon materials that mightbe affected by the action of any atmospheric conditions to which the
42、 case may besubjected. The front edge of the case shall not extend beyond the outer surface ofthe cover glass by more than 0.031 inch. The case length, dimenston L, shall notexceed 7.312 inches for the EFU-26/A series indicators and 3.5 inches for theEFU-43/A series indicators, exclusive of the elec
43、trical receptacle. The indicator shall be so designed that tbe design will notresult in a Category III or Category IV hazard as defined in MIL-STD-882, paragraphentitled Hazard Level, for the
49、 predicated operating life apecif ied in 3.5.16.3.6 Performance. The indicators shall be capable of meeting the requirementsspecified herein under tbe following conditions:a.
