The jug shall be complete and ready for use when connected to a suitable source of power. The jug shall be fabricated of
10、 parts which are sound and free from repair. Joints, where necessary, shall be smooth, even, and made by inert gas shielded arc welding in accordance witin MIL-W-8611. 3.3.1 Fasteniw devices. Al1 screws, pins, and similar parts shall be in- stalled with means to prevent loss of tightness. adjustment

14、d outer cases shall be fabricated of not less than 0.025 inch thick corrosion-resistant steel conforming to class 201, 202, 301, 302, or 304, condition A of C.Q-S-766. The sides of the outer case shall be reinforced by stiffening ribs or any other suitable means to prevent buckling. through the oute

16、ainer body and cover shall be lined with sufficient insulation to enable the container to satisfy the requirements of this specification, The insula- tion shall be polyurethane foam, glass wool, or equal and arranged so that it will remain in place throughout the life of the jug. 3.4.3 Spigot. The s

19、 the flow control mechanism shall be made of a suitable non-metallic material of low thermal conductivity, having a minimum impact strength of 0.6 foot-pound per square inch of notch (hod). If a lock-ring, push-button arrangemenr: is used, the lock ring shall be threaded to the spigot barrel with a
20、standard acme thread conforming to Handbook H28. To facilitate cleaning and sanitation, the con- figuration shall provide maximum ease of disassembly and reassembly and mini- mum accumulation of food deposit. The spigot shall be easily attached, 3.4.4 Cover. The cover shall be fabricated of the same
21、 material as the con- tainer body. The cover shall have suitable quick connect and disconnect latches or clamps for attaching the cover to the body. The latches or clamps shall be specifically approved by the procuring activity, The cover shall have an indentation to accommodate the handle when it i
22、s not in Che carrying position. A suitable diameter metal tube, fabricated of the same material as the container, shall be inserted through the cover to equalize the pressure inside the container with the atmosphere. 3.4.5 Handle. A handle as shown in Figure 1, shall be provided on the cover and sha
23、ll be fabricated of either round or flat stock steel. If round stock is used, it shall conform to class 202, 302, or 304, condition A of Qt-S-763 with cold rolled surfaces. The handle shall have a minimum diameter of 3/16 inch except for the hand grip which shall have a minimum diameter of 318 inch.

The well shall be fabricated of the same material as the cover and shall have sufficient capacity to hold at least 1 112 pou
27、nds of dry ice, A screw-cap shall be provided on the lid for adding the dry ice. 3.4.7 Washers, gaskets and seals. The materials used for the lid gasket, spigot washer, and spigot shaft seal shall not become sticky in normal ser- vice, shall not swell to limit the functionability of the spigot, and
28、shall not be attacked by or impart toxic properties, tastes, or odors to liquid foods during the service life of the container. 3.4.8 Thermostat. The jug shall haue a thermostat of suitable power rating to maintain the temperature of the contents within the range specified when the container is oper
29、ating at any point within the ambient temperature range of plus 10 degrees to plus 180 degrees Fahrenheit. The thermostat shall be either a snap-action type or shall be equipped with a condenser of 0.5 MFD, lOO-volt, direct current capacitance to insure proper operation of the thermostat and to prev
30、ent burning and fusion of the thermostat contacts. 3.4.9 Electrical. All wiring and electrical connections shall be made in accordance with the applicable portions of MIL-W-5088. The jug shall con- form to the electrical interference requirements of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD- 462. 3.4.9.1 Heating elem
31、ents. Each jug shall be equipped with standard 130- watt, maximum, output heating elements for use with 28-volt (within limits of 25 to 29 volts) direct current and also for use with a 115-volt (within limits of 102 to 124 volts) alternating-current power supply. 3.4.9.2 Plug and receptacle. manufac
32、tured by the Cannon Electric Co., Los Angeles, California, or equal. The plug shall mate with receptacle part number 16707 manufactured by the Cannon Electric Co., or equal. The plug shall conform to part number 16706-1 3.5 Performance, Each jug shall meet the following performance criteria. 3.5.1 T
33、emperature control and operation. The thermostat and heater shall maintain the water temperature within the range of 170 to 190 degrees Fahren- heit when tested in accordance with 4.5.1. 3.5.2 Heat retention, perature of not more than 200 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of the con- tents shall n

The jug shall function satisfactorily after 32 volts are applied to the 28-volt terminal and 125 volts are applied to the 115-volt terminal in accordance with 4.5.4. 3.5.5 Leakage. of the jug when tested in accordan

The jug shall withstand the application of 900-volts between the live parts and dead neta1 parts when tested in accordance with 4.5.6. 3.5.7 Handle and cover. There shall be no distortion, bending, cracking,
37、 or fastener failure of the handle or the cover when the jug is loaded and tested in accordance with 4.5.7. 3.5.8 Drainage. o liquid when tested in accordance with 4.5.8. 3.6 Identification. Eqiiipment, assemblies, and parts shall be mrked for identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130. Identific

The container sh
39、all be uniform in quality and all compo- nents shall be assembled in a neat workmanlike manner. Parts shall be free from fractures, splits, punctures, dents, deterioration and shall not be bowed or malformed. Each unit shall be free of corrosion and all welds shall be smooth and complete. 4, QUALITY
40、 ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the con- tract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise speci- fied, the supplier may use his own or any facilities
41、 suitable for the per- formance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 43、n (see 4.2.1) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.2.2). 4.2.1 First article inspection. When first article approval is required under 3.1, first article inspection shall be performed. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), first article inspection shall comprise the examinations in 4.4.1 and 4.4
44、.2 and all tests in 4.5. Failure of the item to pass any examination or test shall be cause for disapproval of the first article. 4.2.2 uality conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection shall be performed on sample units selected in accordance with 4.3. Unless other- wise specified (see
45、6.2), quality conformance inspection shall consist of the examination in 4.4.2 and the tests in 4.5.1, 4.5.4,.4.5.5, and 4.5.6, The acceptable quality levei shall be as specified in 4.3.1 for the examinations and 4.3.2 for the tests. 4.3 Sampling. Sampling lots for examinations and tests shall be se
46、lected in accordance with the provisions set forth in MIL-STD-105, except where other- wise indicated herein. For sampling purposes, a lot shall consist of all insulated jugs offered for delivery to the Government at one time under a specific contract. insulated jug. A sample unit shall consist of o
