1、 ANSI/ASAE S355.5 SEP2015 Safety Practices for Agricultural Front-End Loaders American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers ASABE is a professional and technical organization, of members worldwide, who are dedicated to advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food, and biol

2、ogical systems. ASABE Standards are consensus documents developed and adopted by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers to meet standardization needs within the scope of the Society; principally agricultural field equipment, farmstead equipment, structures, soil and water reso

3、urce management, turf and landscape equipment, forest engineering, food and process engineering, electric power applications, plant and animal environment, and waste management. NOTE: ASABE Standards, Engineering Practices, and Data are informational and advisory only. Their use by anyone engaged in

4、 industry or trade is entirely voluntary. The ASABE assumes no responsibility for results attributable to the application of ASABE Standards, Engineering Practices, and Data. Conformity does not ensure compliance with applicable ordinances, laws and regulations. Prospective users are responsible for

ASABE Standards, Engineering Practices, and Data initially approved prior to the society name change in July of 2005 are designated as “ASAE“, regardless of the revision approval date. Newly developed Standards, Engineering Practi

6、ces and Data approved after July of 2005 are designated as “ASABE“. Standards designated as “ANSI“ are American National Standards as are all ISO adoptions published by ASABE. Adoption as an American National Standard requires verification by ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, an

Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review, substantial agreement has been reached by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more than a simple majority, but not nece

CAUTION NOTICE: ASABE and ANSI standards may be revised or withdrawn at any time. Additionally, procedures of ASABE require that action be taken periodicall

10、 Agricultural and Biological Engineers 1 ANSI/ASAE S355.5 SEP2015 Revision approved September 2015 as an American National Standard Safety Practices for Agricultural Front-End Loaders Developed by the ASAE Agricultural Loader Subcommittee; approved by the ASAE Power and Machinery Division Standards

11、Committee; adopted by ASAE as a Recommendation June 1972; revised and reclassified as a Standard December 1976; reconfirmed December 1981, December 1986; revised editorially July 1989; reconfirmed December 1991; revised November 1996; reaffirmed December 2001; revised December 2002; revised editoria

12、lly February 2004; reaffirmed February 2008; revised October 2010; approved as an American National Standard November 2010; revised and approved by ANSI September 2015. Keywords: Front-end loader, Loaders, Safety, Safety signs, Tractors 1 Purpose and Scope 1.1 This Standard provides a uniform method

13、 of warning owners, bystanders, and operators of the potential hazards encountered in the operation and servicing of agricultural tractors equipped with agricultural front-end loaders. 1.2 This Standard emphasizes that hazard control and accident prevention are dependent upon the awareness, concern

14、and prudence of personnel involved in the operation, transport, and maintenance of equipment. Annex A includes safe practice messages to enhance safety in the operation and servicing of such equipment. 2 Normative References The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of

17、orials General principles 3 Safety Requirements 3.1 Agricultural front-end loaders shall conform to applicable provisions of ASAE S318. 3.2 Safety sign(s) shall be affixed to a portion of the loader in such a manner that they will be readily visible to the operator, either seated in the operating po

18、sition, as the operator mounts the machine, or in the proximity of the hazard. The safety sign(s) should address, but not necessarily be limited to, the following hazards: rollover, ANSI/ASAE S355.5 SEP2015 Copyright American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers 2 falling loads, falling

19、loader arms, falling from the loader, attachment quick coupler latching, and contact with electric power lines. 3.3 Safety sign(s) shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/ASABE AD11684:1995. 3.4 Agricultural front-end loaders shall conform to applicable provisions of ASAE S583. Annex A (informativ

They may not cover all possible hazardous situations; hence, they should be interpreted judiciously and not nec

A.2 Improper use of a loader can cause serious injury or death. A.3 The tractor shall be equipped with an approved rollover-p

22、rotective structure (ROPS) or ROPS cab and seat belt. Foldable ROPS must be kept up at all times for loader applications, with the exception of low overhead applications. Use seat belt as specified by tractor/ROPS manufacturer. A.4 Operate the loader from the operators seat only. A.5 Add wheel balla

Additional counterweight require

A.6 Set wheels to widest permissible settings to increase stability as prescribed in ASAE EP562, Procedure for Determining Recommended Ballast and Minimum Rear Wheel Tread Setting for Agricultural Tractors with Agricultural Front Loa

25、ders. A.7 For better stability, use a tractor with a wide front axle rather than a tricycle-type (narrow) front axle. A.8 Do not lift or carry anyone on loader or work from bucket or attachment. A.9 Move and turn tractor at low speeds during loader operation. A.10 Carry loader arms at a low position

26、 for improved visibility and a lower center of gravity. Never travel at high speeds with the attachment loaded. A.11 Avoid loose fill, rocks and holes: they can be dangerous for loader operation or movement. A.12 Use extra caution when working on inclines. A.13 Avoid overhead power lines or obstacle

27、s when loader is raised. A.14 Check for underground utilities before digging below grade level. A.15 Allow for the loader length when making turns. A.16 Stop the loader arms gradually when lowering or lifting. ANSI/ASAE S355.5 SEP2015 Copyright American Society of Agricultural and Biological Enginee

28、rs 3 A.17 Use proper loader attachments when handling loose, shiftable loads such as round bales. A.18 Do not walk or work under raised loader or bucket or attachment unless it is securely supported. A.19 When parking or servicing loader, lower bucket all the way to the ground so that the bucket and

29、 linkage will not move when the hydraulic control levers are manipulated while the tractor engine is stopped. A.20 Make sure detached loaders are parked on a hard, level surface. Engage all safety devices. For proper stability, park the loader with attachment(s) as recommended by the manufacturer. A

30、.21 Special care should be taken to park or store attachments with points or sharp edges in a safe manner. A.22 Visually check for hydraulic leaks (use cardboard not your hands to detect leaks) and broken, missing, or malfunctioning parts and make necessary repairs. A.23 Escaping hydraulic oil under

31、 pressure can have sufficient force to penetrate the skin, causing serious personal injury. If injured by escaping fluid, obtain medical treatment immediately. A.24 Before disconnecting hydraulic lines, relieve all hydraulic pressure. A.25 Be certain anyone operating the loader is aware of safe oper

32、ating practices and potential hazards. A.26 Be certain lights and safety markings as provided by the tractor manufacturer are clean and operating when transporting the tractor/ loader on public roads. Be certain that the slow moving vehicle (SMV) emblem is visible. Check with local law enforcement f

33、or specific requirements. A.27 Be certain that attachments are securely and properly fastened, especially on loaders equipped with an attachment quick coupler. A.28 Make sure to engage loader valve travel lock, if equipped, when transporting, before dismounting tractor and whenever loader is not being used.
