First Article InspectionS2.1 When required, the first article inspection shall beperformed on one unit. The first article may be either a firstproduction item or a standard produc
16、tion item from thesuppliers current inventory, provided the item meets therequirements of the specification and is representative of thedesign, construction, and manufacturing technique applicableto the remaining items to be furnished under the contract.S3. Label PlatesS3.1 Ice making machines, icem
17、aker-dispensers, and icedispensers shall be provided with data-name plates and instruc-tion plates.S3.2 Data-Name PlatesIn addition to the manufacturerdata plate, machines shall be provided with data-name platesreadily visible to the operator during normal operating use andso as to not adversely aff
18、ect the life and utility of the unit.Plates shall be attached to the front of the unit in such a manneras to meet the applicable National Sanitation Foundationsanitary requirements for this equipment. The plate shallcontain the following information which shall be stamped,engraved, or applied by pho
19、tosensitive means:S3.2.1 National Stock Number, andS3.2.2 Government Approved Manual Number.S3.3 Instruction PlateAn instruction plate shall be madeof anANSI/UL accepted label material and shall be attached tothe front of the machine. The instruction plate shall bearinstructions for start-up, operat
20、ion, and shutdown.S4. Part Identifying NumberS4.1 The following part identifying numbering procedure isfor government purposes and does not constitute a requirementfor the contractor. Human Factors CriteriaS5.1 Human factors engineering criteria, principles, andpractices as defined in Practice F1166 shall be used in thed

Preservation, Packaging and Package MarkingS6.1 When other than commercial practice or conformanceto Practice D3951 is desired, the preservation, packaging, andpackage marking requirements shall be stated in the purchaseord

Manufacturers CertificationS7.1 If the manufacturer has successfully furnished thesame equipment on a previous contract within the past threeyears, further inspection will not be required. The manufacturershall certify in writing that the equipment to be furnished is thesame as th
24、at previously furnished and approved, and that nomajor design changes have been made to the equipment.S8. Naval Shipboard RequirementsS8.1 The following additional requirements apply whenequipment is to be used for shipboard purposes.S8.2 Power CompatibilityUnless otherwise specified (see5.1), ice m
25、aking machines, icemaker-dispensers, and ice dis-pensers shall be compatible with 115 Vac, 60 Hz, single phase,alternating current for shipboard as specified in MIL-STD-1399/300.S8.3 CondenserShipboard ice making machines andicemaker-dispensers shall have an air-cooled condenser con-structed of eith
26、er copper, aluminum, or steel.S8.4 AccessIce making machines, icemaker-dispensers,and ice dispensers shall pass through a 26-in. (660-mm) wideby 66-in. (1676-mm) shipboard hatch without major disassem-bly. Machines for submarines shall pass through a 25-in.(635-mm) diameter circular hatch without ma
27、jor disassembly.Access must be provided from the front of unit for replacementof components or parts and to accomplish any maintenancerelated work.S8.5 Shipboard Ice Bins:S8.5.1 Storage BinIce bins for shipboard use shall belined with 300 series stainless steel as specified in 6.1.1.S8.5.2 Bin Locks
28、/Key Lock SwitchesWhen specified forshipboard use, ice making machines shall be equipped with keylocking devices on the ice bin covers to prevent access tostored ice. Shipboard icemaker-dispensers and ice dispensersshall be equipped with key lock switches to prevent dispensingof ice. The bin locks/k
29、ey lock switch shall not interfere with themachines ice making capabilities.S8.5.3 MountingThe ice making machine storage binsshall be provided with four removable legs suitable for boltingto the deck. Legs shall be 6 612 in. (152 6 13 mm) longfabricated from 14 gage minimum stainless steel 300 seri
30、esadequately reinforced. Counter or dresser mounted icemaker-dispensers and ice dispensers shall be provided with four type300 series stainless steel round legs, each a minimum 1-in.(25-mm) in diameter, 4-in. (102-mm) in length, for securingthe unit to the dresser.S8.6 Environmental SuitabilityIce m
31、aking machines,icemaker-dispensers, and ice dispensers shall be capable ofwithstanding a ships vibration and motion. Controls, switches,moving parts, and electrical circuits shall operate under ship-board conditions without malfunction, binding, excessivelooseness, or damage (see S8.8.3).S8.7 Inclin
32、ed OperationIce making machines, icemaker-dispensers, and ice dispensers shall operate satisfactorily onsurface ships when inclined at an angle of 15 each side of thevertical in each of two vertical planes at right angles to eachother, with no spillage of fluid or product. For submarines theangle of
33、 inclination shall be 30.S8.8 Quality Assurance Provisions:S8.8.1 EMI Control TestsWhen specified, ice makingmachines, icemaker-dispensers, and ice dispensers shall betested by the contractor in accordance with test methods ofMIL-STD-461 for surface ships and submarines. The firstarticle or the init
34、ial production unit, as applicable, shall betested. The contractor shall furnish written certification that theequipment meets the requirements of MIL-STD-461. Non-conformance with the requirements specified shall constitutefailure of the test.S8.8.2 Inclined Operational TestThe ice making ma-chines
35、, icemaker-dispensers, and ice dispensers shall be boltedto a test platform similar to shipboard installation and inclinedat an angle of 15 (30 for submarines). The machine shall befilled to 75 % capacity with product, then operated for 60 seach at each side of the vertical in each of two vertical p
36、lanesat right angles to each other. Any non-conformance withspecified requirements of S8.7 shall constitute failure of thistest.S8.8.3 Shipboard Environmental TestWhen specified, theice making machines, icemaker-dispensers, and ice dispensersunder normal operating conditions shall be tested in accor
37、-dance with MIL-STD-167/1, type I equipment. The machineshall be secured to the test machine in the same manner that itwill be secured on shipboard. Failure of the machine toperform its function during or after testing or meet therequirements of S8.6 shall constitute failure of this test. Thegovernm
38、ent reserves the right to witness all tests of machinesprocured for Naval shipboard use, whether performed by thesupplier or an independent testing agency.F2432 125APPENDIX(Nonmandatory Information)X1.
