1、Designation: F609 05 (Reapproved 2013) An American National StandardStandard Test Method forUsing a Horizontal Pull Slipmeter (HPS)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F609; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year of originaladoption or, in the case of rev

2、ision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. A superscriptepsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers measurement of the slip indexof footwear sole, heel, or related materials o

3、n dry walkwaysurfaces in the laboratory and in the field.1.2 The dimensional values used in the test method aregiven in units of inches, pounds, or degrees Fahrenheit.Alternative equivalent values are in parentheses and are forinformational purposes only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address

4、 all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety, health and environmental practices and deter-mine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed

7、er3is a laboratory and fieldinstrument designed to provide information about the slipindex characteristics between walkway surfaces and a test footmaterial under dry conditions only. The HPS can not be usedon wet surfaces. Slip index can be affected by surfaceroughness, presence of water, contaminan

8、ts such as grease andother foreign materials, and floor surface wear over time. Slipindex, as determined by the HPS, most likely will not giveuseful information for evaluating liquid contaminated surfaces, and therefore, will not provide an effective assessment of apotential slipping hazard on a walk

9、way surface under theseconditions.4.2 The value reported by the Horizontal Pull Slipmeter iscalled the slip index. Slip index is ten times the staticcoefficient of friction. For example, a static coefficient offriction of 0.4 is displayed by a slip index of 4.0 whenmeasured by the Horizontal Pull Sl

No adjust-ment for slope is needed for measurements in the directionperpendicular to the slope and when averaging four measure-ments at one location taken according to step 10.14.5. When testing actual shoe materials, Neolite5shouldbe replaced with the desired test materials.7.2 A set of three test feet of the same material are requiredfor performance of the test.8. Calibration8.1 Place the s

Later model gages have replaced theswitch button with a peak hold mode feature.8.2 Grasp the slipmeter and hold in vertical position.8.3 Set the gage on zero by moving t

The slipmeter shouldhang freely.8.5 The needle on the dial of the gage should be withincalibration range as indicated on the dial. If it is not within thecalibration range, the HPS sho

Conditioning9.1 For testing in laboratories, condition test feet for at least18 to 24 h in atmosphere maintained at 73 6 3.6F (22.8 62C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity.9.2 When testing feet in the field or on fixed floor surfaces, conditioning of tes

23、t feet in accordance with 9.1 may not bepossible. The results obtained during the ruggedness testindicated that temperature could have a significant effect on themeasured slip index when tested at 50 and 85F. Procedure10.1 Insert a set of three test feet in the slipmeter recesses.Test feet can be held in place using all purpose glue.10.2 Mount the abr

Thesanding procedure should consist of five strokes of 5 to 6 in. inlength, parallel to the friction measurement direction, followedby five strokes of 5 to 6 in.

26、in length, perpendicular to thefriction measurement direction.10.4 Lightly brush the test feet using the non-static brush toremove loose surface particles.10.5 Place the slipmeter on its feet on the test walkwaysurface. The hook end shall face the power unit. Be sure allthree test feet rest on the l

For later model Chatil-lon DPP-5 gages with no s
