The requirements for electrodes include chemical composition of the

4、electrode for solid electrodes and of weldmetal for metal cored electrodes. Requirements for fluxes include the mechanical properties and soundness of weldmetal taken from a groove weld made with a particular electrode using a prescribed welding procedure. Standard elec-trode sizes, marking, and pac

5、kaging requirements are included.This specification makes use of both U.S. Customary Units and the International System of Units (SI). 7、odes, specifications, recommended practices, methods, classifications, and guides) of the AmericanWelding Society (AWS) are voluntary consensus standards that have been developed in accordance with the rules of theAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI). When AWS standards are either incorporat

8、ed in, or made part of, docu-ments that are included in federal or state laws and regulations, or the regulations of other governmental bodies, theirprovisions carry the full legal authority of the statute. In selecting rational metric units, the ANSI/AWS A1.1, Metric Practice Guide forthe Welding Industry, and ISO 864, Solid Wires for Gas Shielded Metal Arc Welding of Mild Steel, are

38、 used as guides. Ta-bles and figures make use of both U.S. Customary and SI Units, which with the application of the specified tolerancesprovide for interchangeability of products in both U.S. Customary and SI Units.The current document is the second revision of this specification, as shown below:Do
