12、 the regulations set forth in ICC A117.1-2017 Accessible and UsableBuildings and Facilities. The person who is serious about effectively designing, constructing and regulat-ing buildings and structures for accessibility will find the Commentary to be a reliable data source and ref-erence to almost a

13、ll components of the built environment.This Commentary covers all chapters and sections of the standard. It provides in a small package and ata reasonable cost thorough coverage of many issues likely to be dealt with when using ICC A117.1-2017Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilitiesand then su

14、pplements that coverage with historical andtechnical background.Throughout all of this, effort has been made to keep the vast quantity of material clear and its method ofpresentation useful. With a comprehensive yet concise summary of each section, the Commentary providesa convenient reference for r

15、egulations applicable to the construction of buildings and structures for accessi-bility. In the chapters that follow, discussions focus on the full meaning and implications of the standardtext. Discussions suggest the most effective method of application and the consequences of not adhering tothe s

Illustrations are provided to aid understanding; they do not necessarily illustrate the onlymethod of achieving compliance with the standard.The format of the Commentary includes the reproduction of each section, table and figure in the stan-dard, followed immediately by the commentary

17、 applicable to that section, table or figure. At the time ofprinting, the Commentary reflects the most up-to-date version of ICC A117.1-2017 Accessible and UsableBuildings and Facilities. Each sections narrative includes a statement of its objective and intent, and usu-ally includes a discussion abo

18、ut why the requirement commands the conditions set forth. Standard text andcommentary text are easily distinguished from each other. All standard text is shown as it appears in thestandard itself, and all commentary is indented below the standard text and begins with the symbol .The Commentary is to

Alsointroduced are acoustic standards for class-rooms, features allowing for better communi-cation for persons using sign language,provisions addressing the recharging of wheel-chairs in assembly venues and hotels, access togaming machines and tables, and provisions forwa

32、the Accredited Standards Committee A117 onArchitectural Features and Site Design of Public Buildingsand Residential Structures for Persons with Disabilities.ANSI approved the 2017 edition on March 28, 2017.
