12、describestheinstallationandmainte-nanceproceduresforhighmast,roadway,area,andsportlightingsystemsinstalledoutdoorsforcom-mercial,institutional,andindustrialapplications.ThisStandardappliestohighintensitydischargelightingluminairesrated600Voltsandlessandmountedonpoles. ThisStandarddoesnotapplytospeci

13、alizedapplicationsorinstallationswithspecialenvironmentalorregulatoryconditions.AllinformationinthispublicationisintendedtoconformtotheNationalElectricalCode(ANSI/NFPAStandard70). InstallersshouldalwaysfollowtheNEC,applicablestateandlocalcodes,andmanufacturersinstructionswheninstallingandmaintaining

Scopea73 2AreaLight Aluminairedesignedtobemountedonapoleandintend-edtoilluminateanareasuchasaparkinglot,driveway,oryard.HighMastLight Alightingstandardtypicallyinexcessof 30m(100ft)inheight,ofeitherthefixedorself-loweringluminaireringdesi

16、gn. Accesstofixedlumi-naireringhighmastlightsisprovidedeitherbyacraneandbucket,orwithclimbingringsandasafetyplatformforservic-ing. Accesstoself-loweringluminaireringhighmastlightsisaccomplishedbyloweringtheluminaireringtothegroundwheremaintenanceworkcanbeperformed. Uponcompletion,theluminaireringisr

17、aisedandlatchedintoplace.Lighting ThecompleteassemblyofaStandard lightingpole,bracketsormastarms,andluminaires.LowMastLight Alightingstandardtypicallybetween9mand30m(30and100ft)inheight,ofeitherthefixedorself-loweringluminaireringdesign. Accesstofixedluminaireringlowmastlightsisprovidedeitherbyacran

18、eandbucket,orwithclimbingringsandasafetyplatformforservic-ing. Accesstoself-loweringluminaireringlowmastlightsisaccomplishedbyloweringtheluminaireringtothegroundwheremaintenanceworkcanbedonesafelyandefficiently.Uponcompletion,theluminaireringisraisedandlatchedintoplace.Luminaire Acompletelightinguni

19、tcon-sistingofalightsourceorlampstogetherwiththeparts,reflec-tor,and/orrefractorusedtodis-tributethelight,asockettosupportandpositionthelamps,wiringterminals,andhousing.SportsLight Adirectionalluminairespeciallydesignedforlightingsportsfields.2. Definitions3.1 Receivinga) Upondeliveryofequipment,par

20、ts,andcompo-nents,visuallyinspectpackagingforphysicaldamage.Carefullyunpackmaterialssufficientlytoinspectforconcealeddamageresultingfromshippingandhan-dling. Ifdamagehasoccurred,notifythedeliveringcarrierandthemanufacturerinwritingimmediately.Requestacarrierinspection. Notetheconditionoftheshipmento

21、nallcopiesofthedeliveryreceipt.Fileaclaimwiththecarrier.b) Compareequipment,parts,andcomponentsreceivedwiththebillofmaterialstoverifythattheshipmentiscomplete. Verifythatequipmentandaccessoriesreceivedconformtoapprovedsubmittalsandmanufacturerquotations. Iftheshipmentisnotcompleteorisinerror,notifyt

22、hemanufacturerinwritingimmediately.c) Ifequipment,parts,andcomponentsaretobestoredpriortoinstallation,restoreoriginalpackingmaterials. Whenconditionspermit,leavepackingmaterialsandwrappingsintactuntilreadyforinstal-lation.3.2 Handlinga) Handleequipmentandaccessoriesinaccordancewithmanufacturerrecomm

23、endationsinordertoavoidpersonalinjuryandequipmentdamage.b) Obtaintheshippingweightandthetypeoftruckmakingthedeliverypriortoreceivingtheshipment.Verifythatthehandlingequipmentissuitableforthematerialdeliverymethod,andthattheliftingcapaci-tyismorethantheweighttobemoved.c) Movematerialbyhand,dolly,orot

24、herdeviceinamannersoasnottocausedamage. Handleequip-mentcarefullytopreventdamage,breakage,denting,andscoringfinishes. Useforkliftsorotherloadingequipmentonlyforpalletizedshipmentsandforlargeorheavyobjects,suchaspolesandmastarms.Provideadditionalpaddingwhenusingforkliftsorotherequipment.d) Usebeltsli

25、ngsorropestoprotectfinisheswhenhandling,raising,andsettingpoles. Handlepoleswithnonmetallicfinisheswithwebfabricstraps. Donotusemetallicchainsorcables. Donotdragtreat-edpolesalongtheground. Donothandlewoodpoleswithtongs,canthooks,orotherpointedtoolscapableofproducingindentationmorethan6mm(1/4in.)ind

26、epth. Donotapplytoolstogroundlinesectionofwoodpoles.3.3 Storagea) Followmanufacturerrecommendationsforpro-tectionandstorageofequipment,parts,andcompo-nents. Stackorotherwisestoretopreventdamage,observingwarningsandstackinginstructionsonpackagingorshippingmaterials.b) Protectfromenvironmentalconditio

27、ns,suchasrainandsnow,untilfinalassemblyiscompleted.Protectfromcorrosivegasesorfumes,dirt,dust,debris,foreignobjects,androdents. Moistureincombinationwithcementdustisverycorrosivetoelectronicequipment.c) Storeinamonitoredareatodiscouragedamage,vandalism,andtheft,andoutofthewayofconstruc-tiontraffic.d

Locatewater,sewer,telephone,firealarm,trafficsignal,powerlines,andotherundergroundutilitiesbeforeexcavating,tren

31、ching,anddirectionalboring.b) Checktheclearancebetweenproposedpolesandexistingoverheadutilities,suchaspowerlines,tele-phonelines,guywires,etc.,beforebeginningwork.Takenecessaryprecautionstopreventcontactwithoverheadlines.c) Coordinatewiththeelectricutilitywhenrequiredfornewservices. Coordinatetheloc

32、ationoftheutilityconnectionandprovideraceways,metercabinets,con-ductors,etc.,whenrequiredforutilityconnections.d) Scheduletherelocation,reconstruction,orotherimprovementstoexistingroadwaylightingtomain-tainilluminationduringhoursofdarkness,orpro-videtemporarylighting,ifnecessary.e) Establishastaging

33、area,suchasaclearportionofaparkinglot,driveway,orserviceyardneartheintendedinstallationlocation,forpoleassemblyandstaging. Usematerialssuchasplywood,wallboard,orthecardboardinwhichthematerialwasshippedtoprotectmaterials,andprovidesufficientlumberorrailroadties,tosupportthepolesduringassembly.Takepre

34、cautionstopreventdiscoloringorotherdamagetopolesandluminairescausedbystains,fin-ishes,ortreatmentsonthesupportmaterials.f) Notifythegeneralcontractor,engineer,orownerinwritingofadverseconditions. Donotproceedwiththeinstallationuntiladverseconditionshavebeenresolved.4.2 LocatingEquipmenta) Locatepole

35、sandequipmentinaccordancewithcontractdocuments,approvedshopdrawings,andmanufacturerrecommendations,andtomaintaintheminimumrequiredlightinglevels. Verifyallprojectdimensionsonsite.b) Adjustpoleandequipmentlocationstomaintainrequiredclearancesandtoavoidobstructions,unde-sirablefoundationconditions,etc
